Chapter 469 - Tianbao had returned from overseas looking very distressed. (3)

JingJing and Tianbao felt that it was only right for Shu Yan to give more of her fixed assets and cash to Xiao Bao. In fact, they felt that Xiao Bao got the shorter end of the stick. Feng Zeyu wasn’t their real father and did not need to give his company to the two of them. Shu Yan, however, was his real mother but she had given her two companies to the two of them, leaving Xiao Bao out of it. Compared to the companies, what was Shu Yan’s remaining inheritance?

Xiao Bao’s thought process was even simpler. He had been close with his brother and sister since he was a child. Besides, he had no interest in the companies at all, including his dad’s. His dream was to be a star.

Naturally, Feng Zeyu objected to his dreams when he found out. He had thought about sending his son into the military for a few years for some training before taking over his company. As it turned out, the boy fuzzed about wanting to learn to sing and dance. That was quite different from what he had in mind.

He was short of tying him up and giving him a beating*, but was stopped by Shu Yan. She told him that he could go take singing and dancing lessons as long as he could score in the top 3 at school. As it turned out, Xiao Bao’s passion for singing and dancing was real and was able to, somehow, score in the top 3 from being middle of the pack.

As he liked it so much, Shu Yan did not stand in his way. That was Feng Zeyu and Shu Yan’s first fight. Well, it wasn’t really a fight, more a heated discussion.

Of course, Shu Yan was the one who won in the end. Mainly because Feng Zeyu didn’t want to force his own child. He was not loved by his parents and had wanted his child to have what’s best. And what was the best? That was what the child liked the best.

Xiao Lan came out of the kitchen when she heard noises.

“Xiao Bao is back already and practicing dancing on the second floor. Should I give him a call to come upstairs?”

Aunty worked at Shu Yan’s house for 6 years. After her daughter had graduated college and was assigned a position, she wanted Aunty to leave with her, but Aunty had refused to go with her. Partly because she didn’t want to part with Shu Yan and her children and, more importantly, she figured that her daughter had just started her first job and wasn’t making a lot of money. Having supplemental income was nice. She made a lot of money at Shu Yan’s and could help out her daughter.

Her daughter got married and had a child later on. Her son-in-law and her daughter worked in the same department. Her son-in-law’s parents had yet to retire and with both of them working, they did not have time to take care of their child. Aunty finally resigned from Shu Yan’s to go and take care of her daughter and her grandchild.

Xiao Bao was much older then and Xiao Lan was fine on her own. Shu Yan had a couple of domestic help coming occasionally to help with the cleaning but never looked for another nanny.

Xiao Lan was 25 years old with just one daughter when she started working for Shu Yan. Her husband had passed away a few years after Xiao Lan had started working in City Nan. Shu Yan had offered for her to bring her daughter to City Nan and attend school here. There would be a lot of extra rooms after they moved to Hu Ruixue’s little district. They could give a large room to Xiao Lan and that would be more than enough for her and her daughter.

Unfortunately, her in-laws worried that she would take her daughter away and would not let her bring her daughter to City Nan.

With no other choices, Xiao Lan had her grandparents take care of her daughter. She was going to send her monthly salary back to her grandmother, but Shu Yan stopped her.

It really didn’t cost a lot to raise a child in the village nowadays. They grew their own food and there was no tuition cost. Xiao Lan would bring clothes back to her. They didn’t need that much money. A hundred yuan a month was more than enough.
