Chapter 239: The Meeting In Helheim [ 3 ]

In all honesty, I thought something like this was going to happen.

Obviously, the thought was minor, and I genuinely never decided to even humor it, because what were the odds that we would actually hold our meeting in another realm?

Still, just because I wasn’t completely prepared didn’t mean I was helpless.

"You seem a little troubled. Is it because you don’t want to attend the meeting?" Merilyn asked.

Letting out a chuckle, she added:

"If you don’t want to, then that’s fine. I’ll let them know that one of the main catalysts won’t be present. After all, you’re already late, so it’s fine."

"Haha. I’m curious. Did you think you were going to intimidate me with this?" I asked.

I took a step forward and then stopped just a few inches away from Merilyn.

"I’m going through."

A slightly surprised look appeared on her face.

If I were her, I’d be surprised as well. After all, the main reason why this meeting was set in the Demon Realm was because they wanted to test whether or not I had enough resolve to actually go through.

And normally, I wouldn’t have much resolve, considering that getting out of the Demon Realm was pretty damn hard.

But during the course of the week, alongside practicing Atomic Anchoring, I was very adamant about practicing one thing in particular.

That thing being none other than my connection with Morr, and especially the ’ability’ he had to pull someone out of tough situations.

At first, I thought it was just some kind of teleportation ability. However, after Morr showed it to me firsthand, I was left a little bit skeptical.

The way it worked was that Morr would place some kind of anchor. Whether it was a bit of his energy, or just an object infused with energy, anything could work. It’s just that, for it to work, the object or energy needed to have similar weight as me.

Obviously, I can bypass that requirement since I can just lower or increase my weight with Telekinesis.

Still, if the conditions are met, all Morr needed to do was trigger a burst of energy in my heart, and that energy would react with the anchor, thus switching my position with that anchor.

It was like teleportation... but not really teleportation? I’ve never actually seen something like this in the game, but it’s really easy to do. The distance didn’t really matter much either, which is why I had sent out Morr a few days prior to prepare hundreds of anchors all around the world.

And I trusted Morr this time, since after testing, there’s no range limit, energy barrier, or anything else that can stop it... unless there’s a Divine Beast there or something.

So with that in mind, I just gave Merilyn another smile.

"So, are we going to enter, or not?"

She just stared at me for a few moments, then sighed.

"Yeah. I guess we will. One second..."

She closed her eyes, and I quickly realized some kind of faint thread of energy escaped her body. I followed the thread without alerting her, and quickly found that it was headed straight toward the rooftop just behind me.

Atop that roof was some kind of demon who I didn’t recognize, but once he had gotten whatever energy thread that was, he immediately vanished out of sight, much faster than my perception could even keep track of.

"Alright. We’re ready. Come."

With those words, Merilyn began walking up the giant staircase, and I followed after her.

Sure, I was nervous. How could I not be? The Demon Realm had always been a DLC inside the game. And even then, the only times I was able to actually enter it were in small bursts.

Like, if a portal opened up, I sometimes needed to go in to clear the demons from within. But the area was limited, and I couldn’t explore freely when inside. Basically, the place where I’m going right now I only know about because I read all the lore books.

Aside from that, I had no idea.

But then again, I already had much more information than anyone in my position would. After all, I’m the only transmigrator in this world... that I know of, at least.

Nonetheless, we climbed the steps, and despite the strange looks we got, we eventually arrived at the top. There were a couple of powerful demons up there guarding the portal, since even though the Demon Realm was considered lawless, at least in the books, order was still maintained.

So not just anyone could enter it. If a demon was born out here, entering the Demon Realm would be a pain in the ass, much like it would for me had I not had Merilyn right in front of me, sweet-talking her way with the guards, and eventually causing the guards to move aside and let us through.

We walked even closer to the portal, and once I was only a few steps away, I felt my skin crawl. My heart beat slightly faster, and I felt like someone was watching me. Despite where I looked though, I couldn’t sense who it was.

Seeing that, Merilyn chimed in:

"Demonic Energy is also known as miasma. What you’re feeling right now is the most potent form of miasma."

Right...

"Basically, the souls of deceased demons are whispering into your mind. It’s only going to get worse inside the Demon Realm, so it’s still not too late to back out now," she added.

I shook my head.

"I’m fine."

"You don’t look fine. Listen, I’ll give you the benefit of doubt since you’re still somewhat human. Take this."

She reached into her dimensional ring and pulled out some weird gas mask. It was my first time seeing something like this here, but I had seen it plenty of times inside of the game.

This wasn’t just any ordinary gas mask, but it was some weird sex toy.

Whoever put that on would have weird fumes pumped straight into their nose, making them suffocate. If there were no fumes though... it would filter the air around it into some kind of aphrodisiac.

So in short, this bitch was trying to drug me.

"I’ll pass. Let’s just go already."

Merilyn let out a chuckle and shrugged. Storing the sex toy, she went ahead and turned toward the portal. Then, as the two of us glanced at the demons who had just gone through, she stepped forward and vanished through the portal.

I was still a little bit hesitant, but despite that, I took a step forward and finally entered the Demon Realm as well.
