Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 231: An Ordinary Date [ 2 ]
"A date? Now?" Clementine mumbled, puzzled. ππ£π²ππ¨π²ππ»πΌπ―π²π.π°ππ¦
"Donβt you think nowβs a bit of a bad time to go out on a date?"
I just shrugged.
"Truth be told, I really donβt have any ideas. We could visit a few tombs and maybe, just maybe, find a few cool weapons we could use. Maybe even trigger some quests that would give us stats and whatnot... but I really doubt it."
After all, reaching such power before the main event of the game was already impressive. Wanting any more was just stupid, and I knew it was practically impossible to get much stronger than this.
"You actually want to take me out on a date?" she repeated.
"Yeah. I donβt think weβve actually ever had a normal date before. Also, could I get the enchanting book? Thereβs something I want to learn before the demons descend," I replied.
At my words, she just grumbled.
"I guess we can go out on a date... Oh, and here."
She tossed the book over to me, and once I caught it, I immediately stored it inside my dimensional ring.
"But are you sure a date is really the best idea? What if we just go out andβ"
I grabbed her hand, interrupting her. Then, I pulled her closer to me, causing her to turn flustered.
"Stop overthinking things. Come on, letβs go."
Before she could answer, I teleported to a thin strand of my Black Lightning over at Lenice, the same city where I had been living as Mikael.
Itβs just that the moment I reappeared, a bit of blood dripped down my nose. My injuries were still there, and me overusing my energy like this wasnβt making things any better for me either.
Spotting my new injury, Clementine pouted and began healing me again.
And once I was fine, I set her down and glanced out of the alleyway. Knowing that we couldnβt just step out as is, Clementine and I altered our appearances before finally leaving the alleyway.
Since she was basically still nursing me, Clementine took the initiative. Wherever I wanted to take her, she just went the opposite way, and in the end, we ended up in front of some kind of lunch place.
"Lunch, really?" I asked.
Clementine harrumphed at me, clearly not liking my attitude. Despite that, she grabbed my hand more fiercely and stepped inside the inn. It was cozy, and there werenβt that many people there, so she just sat us in the very corner of the inn and then whistled for the waitress to come over.
From then on, Clementine pretty much did everything. She ordered food for us, paid for us, and lastly, she even checked out my injuries one final time. I honestly wanted this date to be more of a date where we did something special, since I had a few things in mind.
But clearly... that wouldnβt be possible.
After just a few minutes, the food arrived, and it was just a basic yet really tasty steak. Clementine enjoyed it a little more than I did, as it seemed like she hadnβt eaten in ages.
She glanced up at me while eating and said:
"Sorry if this isnβt as romantic as you imagined. Iβm drained from the earlier fight."
I let out a chuckle.
"Donβt worry about it. This doesnβt have to be a romantic date. Weβll have plenty more times for that. Instead, do you want to go get some clothes after this?"
Clementine paused for a few seconds, then nodded. When I saw that, I just smiled at her and began eating as well.
The food was really delicious, and judging by how she already knew the menu like it was the back of her hand, she wasnβt a first-time customer.
Once we were done, we stepped out and immediately headed to a clothing shop. Obviously, she wanted to pick and choose, but it seemed like she forgot that we were pretty damn wealthy, so I went ahead and just bought all the clothes I could.
And lastly, we simply began roaming around the city, holding hands as we had nothing else planned. I wasnβt sure how I felt about this kind of date, but just being beside her was enough.
Though, for some reason, the more we walked around the city, the more I realized that there were fewer and fewer people.
Was today some kind of holiday?
Maybe it was? Well, just because Aldraazan went to shit, doesnβt mean these people canβt celebrate something.
Though the people werenβt in their homes, nor were they in inns.
It was almost like they were simply disappearing.
Clementine seemed to notice that too.
She paused for a few seconds and narrowed her eyes at the sky. As if sensing something, she suddenly turned the corner and led me into an alleyway.
When she stopped, I spotted the puzzled and slightly fearful look on her face, causing my expression to harden.
"Whatβs wrong?"
"Thereβs some kind of energy circling around the city. I canβt feel what exactly it is... can you?"
I furrowed my brows and then used my Mystic Eyes, trying to find what she was talking about. However, I couldnβt sense anything off.
"The energy is gone?" Clementine mumbled, tightening her grip on my hand slightly.
Everything seemed to quiet down for a moment.
But just then, her eyes widened.
And mine did too in the very next instant, as out of nowhere, a fierce amount of demonic energy suddenly burst outward from the very center of the city, covering the whole city instantly.
Just in time, I covered Clementine and myself in a thin veil of energy, warding off all that Demonic Energy from reaching us.
Then the people who I thought had vanished reappeared in the sky. Even from the narrow alleyway, I could see them hovering in the sky, their necks broken and their limbs twisted at odd angles.
But most important of them all was the fact that their chests abruptly began to twist and open, revealing a black, goo-like portal leading to elsewhere.
Realizing the similarities, I felt like a pit had suddenly formed in my stomach.
...That elsewhere was none other than the demonic realm.
And all the people up above were just people who had been turned into half-demons who could open portals at will.
I acted immediately.
I kicked off the ground, launching myself into the air. Once I was above the houses, I finally got a bigger picture of just what was happening, and it was even more brutal than it looked from the alley.
There were several halo-like rings consisting of people circling the entire city. But the Skyward Continent wasnβt the only one affected, as further beyond, I saw a nearby town have the exact same halos above it. Even further, another city.
Focusing my Mystic Eyes more deeply, I even saw the coastal city of Elodrenia suffer the same fate.
Everything and everyone was affected.
I knew what I had to do, so I raised my hand and tried to use my Telekinesis to kill every single one of these half-demons.
Yet the moment I snapped the neck of one person, a stinging sensation ran down my spine as for a moment, I felt like I had been paralyzed.
Only then did I feel a sharp prick in the lower end of my spine... almost like someone had stabbed me with a thin needle.
And that very same person soon jumped up from the alley, picked me up, and after enveloping me in her energy, abruptly pulled me down to the edge of the city.
In that very same instant, the bodies of every single human contorted as black goo spat outward, causing hordes of demons to spur out from within. The bodies of the humans were ripped to shreds, but as if they didnβt feel any pain, they kept the portals open, down to their very last breaths.
Barons, Viscounts... Earls and stronger demons that even Clementine and I would have trouble facing...
All of them had suddenly descended and began raising hell, killing every single remaining person in Lenice before I could even take a single breath or process what was happening.
I wanted to help, but I couldnβt. I was way too weak. Clementine was also drained.
So in the end, I was forced to watch it all unfold in front of me.
...It was just like in the game.
I felt my chest tighten even further and my breath quicken.
The demons were descending.
They were actually here.
Itβs just that... back when the demon descent happened in the game, the sky had turned red.
A very dark red that made it seem like it was the actual end of the world.
But it wasnβt red now.
Deep down, I knew that even though the demons had descended ahead of time, with the meeting still on the table... This wasnβt the complete descent.
It would only be complete once the main catalysts like myself and Kai played their role.
But complete or not...
The demons had descended.
