Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches-Chapter 278Vol. 1 - - A Deeper Meaning
Lately, HuMing had been quite the sensation at school. No matter whether it was coming to or leaving class, there were always a fair number of girls trailing behind him.
From the outside, it looked like his popularity was soaring. But clearly, something about it felt off—at least, to HuMing himself. He didn’t think this kind of attention was anything good.
Because, along with all these girls flocking around him, HuMing had also caught wind of a lot of unpleasant chatter.
Apparently, some of the male classmates had started grumbling behind his back. Saying things like how HuMing just transferred in and already acts like he’s hot stuff, cold and aloof on the surface, but secretly reveling in the attention from all those girls.
Of course, HuMing had never said anything of the sort. But it was clear—this is what they all believed deep down.
Things escalated to this point, HuMing could more or less piece together what was happening.
“HuMing, looks like people are starting to isolate you.”
Xia Chen had just returned to his seat, his brows furrowed as he glanced over at HuMing.
A few moments ago, he’d noticed HuMing handing something to someone, but the person barely gave a half-hearted response—like they didn’t want anything to do with him.
That hadn’t been the case when HuMing first arrived.
HuMing didn’t bother responding to Xia Chen’s comment. Anyone with eyes could tell—it was Gu ZhaoChuan pulling strings behind the scenes.
He and Gu ZhaoChuan were cut from different cloth. Gu ZhaoChuan’s popularity was effortless; people agreed with him willingly. Whereas HuMing felt like he was being forcibly propped up, praised to the skies, and then expected to keep up the act.
It was like being shoved onto a pedestal he never asked for.
At this point, no matter how much he tried to explain, people would only cling harder to what they already believed.

In their head, they’d made up their minds: HuMing was exactly that kind of person. And the fact that girls kept gravitating toward him only made things worse.
“Xia Chen, who was the last guy at this school that constantly had a crowd of girls hanging off him? Wasn’t it Gu ZhaoChuan?”
“…Yeah, probably. You Gu family types are always flashy like that, anyway. Comes with the name.”
“Looks like the Gu family really carries weight around here, huh?”
HuMing said casually, glancing over just in time to catch sight of Gu ZhaoChuan passing outside the classroom. Their eyes met briefly—Gu ZhaoChuan offered a faint, easy smile, looking as composed as ever.
HuMing didn’t get angry. It was clear enough—another little trick Gu ZhaoChuan had left behind.
It seemed Gu ZhaoChuan had tamed quite a few students at this school. Anytime someone who might pose a threat to him showed up, the rumors would start flying. And the scary part was, no one seemed to notice they were being manipulated by him.
Hard to say whether these people were pathetic… or just pitiful.
Right then, Gu YunZhou walked in from outside, brows knitted, clearly not in the best mood. He made his way straight to HuMing’s desk, lowering his voice.
“HuMing, have you heard the rumors going around about you? They’re saying you’ve been stringing girls along, then dumping them.”
“You said it yourself—rumors. So why are you here asking me? You think I have time for that nonsense?” HuMing raised a brow, lips quirking into a smile.
The latest version of events was getting more and more ridiculous. But frankly, HuMing was starting to find the whole thing amusing.
He was even curious—how far would it spiral?
Gu YunZhou, however, felt like HuMing was taking things far too lightly. He knew HuMing hadn’t done anything like that. But if these stories kept spreading, it wouldn’t end well for him.
Didn’t HuMing care how it might affect his life here?
“HuMing, do you want me to clear things up for you?”
“Clear up what? Explaining is just covering up. Covering up only makes it look like you’ve actually done something. Why should I waste my breath? YunZhou, when something happens, don’t panic. Losing your composure only means you’ve lost control.”
HuMing looked completely unbothered. If nothing unexpected happened, Gu ZhaoChuan would definitely try to trip him up soon.
But fortunately, HuMing had made his preparations in advance.
If Gu ZhaoChuan wanted to deliver a grand little trap, HuMing would be sure to let him know—he was still the one who could crush him underfoot.
…
After school, HuMing packed up his things, ready to head out. Gu YunZhou had school affairs to deal with, while Xia Chen had been called home by his family—it sounded like something important came up.
In the blink of an eye, HuMing found himself alone again.
With finals approaching, Ye QiuXue had her hands full focusing on studying. HuMing didn’t want to disturb her.
He slung his bag over one shoulder and strolled through campus. As he passed by groups of students, he could still catch bits of their whispers about how he was making waves at school lately.
The rumors were spreading fast—and getting wilder by the day.
Once something like this picked up momentum, trying to clean up afterward would only get messier. But HuMing had no intention of intervening.
His gaze flickered to a figure not far ahead.
It was a girl, always with her head down, but HuMing had a clear impression of her.
She was the one who’d handed him the most love letters these past few weeks. Yet every time, she delivered them shyly, head ducked, never daring to meet his eyes.
Even Xia Chen had been impressed by her persistence.
But HuMing merely watched her retreating figure quietly, offering no reaction to her gestures.
What he had noticed, though, was that she always seemed to head to the piano room after school to play.
Probably just a personal hobby.
HuMing didn’t give it much thought. He turned away, walking straight out of the school gates. Before leaving, he glanced up once at the surveillance camera, then lowered his head and walked off.
Unbeknownst to him, not long after he left, the girl returned to her usual spot at the corner, leaning against the railing, her gaze fixed in the direction of the school entrance.
…
Before dinner, someone unexpected showed up at his door.
When Gu ZhaoChuan stood before him, the person who had effectively rewritten the original HuMing’s life for years, HuMing’s expression remained calm. Gu ZhaoChuan, on the other hand, seemed genuinely concerned.
“HuMing, I heard about the rumors going around school. I believe you, of course. You’re always hanging out with YunZhou—no way you’d do something like that. Do you want me to help clear things up?”
“Oh? And how do you plan to help me?” HuMing arched a brow, returning the same pleasant smile.
“I’ll set the record straight for you.”
“Is that so… Actually, no need. Rumors are rumors—let them spread however they like.” HuMing shrugged nonchalantly. “Back where I came from, the stories they told about me were ten times worse. Some people even said I should be kicked out of school. But so what? I quite enjoy watching them get worked up and being powerless to do anything about it.”
He reached out, patting Gu ZhaoChuan lightly on the shoulder.
Gu ZhaoChuan’s smile faltered.
For some reason, he couldn’t shake the feeling that HuMing’s words carried a deeper meaning…
