Chapter 1154: Chapter 1154 Giving All They Have

Thanks to Aerial’s appearance, Quillon had managed to avoid being immolated by Gronex’s unique skill.

He had not escaped unscathed though and had several serious burns over parts of his body, especially his hands and arms.

It was clear that he had been using his defensive sword skills to keep the flames at bay, but Quillon had paid a price since a few of his fingers were charred black.

"Persistent Healing."

As Marcus forced out all of the mana he had recovered, he used it to cast the best healing spell he was currently capable of.

The results were not apparent immediately, but every second that went by Quillon’s lesser burns slowly faded away.

Still, this would not be enough to fix the worst of his wounds. Marcus would have needed to at least cast the regenerate spell for that. Unfortunately, he did not have nearly enough mana to do so.

’I should have saved more of my strength. If I was in better shape, I could use Light of Salvation to heal everyone. As I am now though, using another Supreme Skill in this shape could destroy me. Even if it’s a power meant for healing.’ Marcus thought, clenching his teeth in frustration since he could not do anymore.

Soon, Quillon roused as he released a pained grunt.

He had fallen unconscious for a few moments, but his strong will and constitution had brought him back quickly.

However, with the extreme pain he was experiencing, perhaps staying asleep would have been better.

"Quillon, what are you doing?!"

Despite his injuries, Quillon had picked up his sword and was dragging himself back to his feet.

"The fights not over. I’ve got to get back to it." Quillon said, a haziness in his expression as he wobbled on his feet.

To anyone watching, it was evident that he was in no shape to head into a deadly fight against a high-level dragon. It looked like a stiff breeze could knock him over.

Yet he just looked towards Aerial.

Part of his power came from her, something that he could not access before since she had been undergoing a trail to becoming a superior spirt in the spirt world.

Now though, the two of them could fight together again.

"Don’t even think about it. Roxene will finish the battle for us. Gronex’s time using his Supreme is almost over, and I’m sure she’ll be able to beat him then." Lyra said, obviously concerned for her lover.

Except, almost as soon as she finished talking, there was a resounding booming sound followed by the ground around them violently shaking.

When they all turned towards where the noise had come from, the form of a giant wolf on her side with six gargantuan fangs sticking out of her side and stomach came into view.

"Roxene!"

Marcus cried out towards his companions, but even as she struggled to get up, her body would not obey her commands.

She was heavily wounded and incapacitated. Unable to remove the broken fangs piercing her body.

While Marcus was focused on Roxene, Lyra kept her gaze locked on the dragon that had left her in such a state.

The crimson fire that had covered his body was faded now, and there was a giant gash across the left side of his face that had sliced through his eye and exposed bone.

This wound did not appear to be recovering, and it would seem that the ancient Lava Dragon had taken a depilating hit.

There were also two large cuts down his neck that were bleeding profusely and had clearly come from Roxene’s claws.

Regrettably, despite her vicious assault, in the moment that Roxene had struck, Gronex had fully sacrificed defensive to deliver an attack of his own. Mortally wounding the Divine Wolf at the cost of taking severe damage himself.

But the incredible vitality of a level ninety-one dragon kept him up, and with his one good eye he glared down at Roxene. Obviously intent on finishing her off.

"Aerial, Spirit Assimilation, now!"

Seeing how the situation had now vastly changed, there would be no stopping Quillon now. Though his body was a wreck, he would continue to fight with whatever strength he had left.

For just a moment, Aerial looked hesitant to do as Quillon asked because it would put immense strain on him, but ultimately, she accepted the decision her contractor had made.

Before they could finish melding together though, Marcus interceded.

"Aerial, wait!"

There was an authority to her voice that forced her to stop and listen. As the Supreme Spirit, he could give orders to all spirits that were not great spirits. Naturally, that included Aerial.

"Marcus, don’t try to stop us! Roxene’s about to be killed and we’ll be next if I don’t go!" Quillon shouted, his voice almost pleading.

"I know. That’s not my intention. I just want to give you the best chance. There’s not much I can do right now, but I can still share some of my power with Aerial."

Holding out both of his hands, Marcus separated a part of himself into both. With his right hand holding a pure darkness, and the left a dazzling light.

"I won’t force you, but if you accept my blessing and become my adjutant, you can become a spirt of light or darkness as well. It should make you stronger than you are now."

Aerial looked stunned by what Marcus was offering her. It was typically considered a high honor to be blessed by one of the great spirits and become their trusted retainer.

While Marcus was vastly different from the great spirts in many ways, the blessing that he offered was still of equal if not greater power.

Nevertheless, taking up the offer would make her Marcus’ subordinate. Something that would complicate her contact with Quillon. So, she looked towards him for his agreement before accepting.

"We don’t have time for debates and our lives on the line. Take whichever one you want. And then we’re using Spirit Assimilation immediately. Roxene won’t hold out for much longer." Quillon said, giving his consent for Aerial to take Marcus’ blessing.
