Chapter 116: A Crying Little Girl

Once Zylus left the area where the washroom was located, he was back in the main area, where most Demons were passing by, families themselves, or on a date. They were all here for a reason.

But what was the reason Zylus was here?

He began stepping near the edges of tall glass that were placed around one of the stores on the edge. He leaned his right hip onto there, pondering on his current position, and where would be the best place to go.

The exit wasn’t too far in front of him, but it would be a long train ride back into his dormitory, where the cadet course was. Today, fortunately, was a Saturday; thus, he didn’t have anything tomorrow.

Even so, what if he did have something tomorrow? Would Zylus dare to step foot around those who can’t give a single ounce of warmth towards his pained soul?

"Ghrrr," Zylus’s stomach rumbled, "Guess I should get something to eat."

He searched his pockets, and luckily, some coins remained intact inside the dirtied bag. Zylus realized it came from his fight back against Frey’s brother inside the colosseum.

"Wondering if he’s dead by now," Zylus tapped his jaw; his stomach rumbled again. "Right there looks fine."

He stepped towards a restaurant just by the exit; he wasn’t planning to dine in, a simple takeaway would be more than fine.

No line, no people, just employees. There wasn’t anywhere to dine in either way; it was one simple stall, boards across to block off the store, and the actual mall’s interior pathways.

"Welcome to Euphoria!" A lady came running towards him, clearly not expecting any customers today, "My name’s Cassie! What may I get you today?"

She had an apron on, a black shirt underneath, and blue jeans that ran across her thick legs. Cassie seemed to be about the same age as Zylus.

Zylus stepped up, alone, looking at the screen above her head, "I would like that triple-cheese burger, please."

Zylus pointed towards the burger he chose, as the images portrayed by the screen simply looked too amazing. No combo, no fries, just a hamburger.

"Is that all? Want to make it a combo?" Cassie tapped the small screen below her intensely, adding up his price, "If so-"

"And one water." Zylus cut her off smoothly, picking out a few copper coins from his scratched, brown small bag.

"Coming right up!" Cassie averted her gaze from the screen back to Zylus, "We take Demon Swipe or copper-"

Demon Swipe is a simple online card transaction that the Demon Realm utilises.

As soon as she said that, Zylus tossed three copper coins, and Cassie gracefully picked them up.

"It’s like you knew the exact price," she giggled, "Must be a regular."

Cassie then opened up what looked to be a cash register, "Just wait about five minutes, your food will be right there."

She then sprinted to the back, as Zylus moved to the side.

"Oh yeah, your receipt!"

"No need," Zylus declined calmly, "Thank you for your service."

"No worries!" Cassie replied graciously.

Zylus then took a look into his bag. Only fifteen coppers remained, so not much to go on, but just good enough for the time being.

Zylus began opening his system, trying to notice anything new, maybe some new updates that he hadn’t focused on.

Zylus quickly understood he would have to go on a couple more quests to fulfill that bar. Though he didn’t have much to do anymore, because everyone left his grasp in one day.

But what sparked his blood was how excited he was to test out how powerful he had become. It just seemed spectacular. The causes were obviously something he looked down upon, yet Zylus still felt free.

Maybe it was because he lost guilt that he couldn’t feel sad anymore. He lost fear, so he doesn’t fear his own death. But one thing that crumbled through his spine even more than any of these was his ’love.’

"Bump. Bump. Bump." His heart was pumping rapidly, as if the girl of his dreams just left him, in pure terror.

Zylus took a deep breath, then moved to the right side, where his order would be met.

"Coming right back!" Cassie walked quickly towards the front counter, with a small plastic opaque bag that seemed pretty heavy, "One triple-cheese burger with water, right up!"

Cassie stretched her hand wide so Zylus could get it, leaning onto the counter. Zylus looked at her, seriously, as he picked up the food from the circled handles at the tip of the bag.

The aroma of the spices streamed across his senses, while he walked closer to the doors separating the inside and outside of the mall.

"Thank you," Zylus proclaimed.

Cassie then pondered for a second, about something, "N-no," for the first time, she stuttered, which made Zylus turn around curiously, "No problem!"

Zylus turned back, waving a hand, while leaving through the exit, into the night, while the cold air brushed his skin.

There was a garbage can right next to the glass doors. Zylus placed the plastic bag into the black bin, unraveling the burger inside. He was holding it with one hand, using his left hand to hold onto the plastic water bottle.

Yum. Yum. Yum.

In just about one minute, he finished the burger, showing how hungry he actually was. Though he got full the second after he took a sip from the water bottle.

While Zylus looked into the moon above, he smiled.

Possibly, one of his last, well, the genuine type. Although one, that meant he at least could still live with some normalcy, as a regular dude.
