Top Gamer Reincarnated as an Archmage-Chapter 44: Familiar Persona
"Interesting," after Friedrich explained the situation, Gilhelm dismissed him and Bruyi out of the room, leaving him alone with Skara.
"What do you think, sir?" She wiped the green hair from her eyes, revealing her same-coloured emerald eyes which shone like an actual gem.
Her dark gloves brushed against his hand as he waited for his comment; however, all Gilhelm did was chuckle for a while.
"Sir—"
"Klaus will be an interesting specimen," he grabbed Skara’s hand and squeezed it so tight it nearly broke, making her squirm as she yelped from the pain.
"We might have to recruit him in the future," with that, he stood and walked out of the room, leaving Skara alone, who was just stretching her hand, fingers shaking violently.
—
The next morning, Klaus woke up with all of his being sore and feeling heavy.
’The hell,’ as he opened his eyes, Jyrana was laid out on his limbs, weighing them down like he was the Titanic being sunk underwater.
"Fuck," he slowly slid her body off of his; he had no clue how they even ended up in this position after falling asleep last night due to the fatigue building up in him.
"Mhmhm," Jyrana was still wearing her uniform from yesterday, which was pretty nasty.
’She fought, wore it for a day, trained, had classes in that, and didn’t even bother to change,’ Klaus covered his mouth with a yawn; he had washed himself and changed last night; however, Jyrana didn’t...
Klaus started changing into his uniform slowly, unbothered by the sleeping catgirl in his bed.
’I swear if anyone saw this scene, they would think something happened..’ He sighed as he put on his shirt and academic attire, dusting it off a little, even the tiniest spec of dust.
He took out his timetable from yesterday’s uniform and put it in his pocket, making sure it wouldn’t fall out.
After that, he walked over to the sleeping cat-lady and grabbed her by the shoulders.
’Here goes nothing,’ he started violently shaking her, making her entire body shake, yet nothing happened. She didn’t wake up at all. As soon as Klaus let go, she just fell back on the bed and kept snoring.
’Uh,’ Klaus had no idea what was happening, so he just kept poking her legs, waiting for a reaction or any sign that she would be waking up sooner or later. However, that reaction never came.
’Let’s try something.’ He extended her hands forward. Mana instantly channeled through his veins, ready for whatever Klaus was about to do.
’Lightning arc—’ He couldn’t even finish channeling the spell as Jyrana jolted out of bed, nearly jumping on the ceiling and breaking the entire room apart.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, MASTER?" She screamed out as she landed on a shelf, nearly falling over and breaking it in half.
’Finally.’
"Had to wake you up somehow," Klaus sighed as he started organising his bed sheets and cleaning them off whilst Jyrana was licking her arms.
"Don’t you have to change uniforms?" His question made Jyrana’s ears perk as her tail nearly whipped down a book off the shelf.
"No, we don’t respire like humans. We don’t have a scent."
"What?" Klaus, not being able to believe it, reached up and grabbed her by the collar, pulling her off the shelf.
"Master, what are you?!" Her face instantly reddened as he started sniffing her outfit.
"Wow," Klaus was lost for words, ignoring the flustered cat girl as her outfit really had no smell whatsoever.
He looked up. Their eyes met as he finally noticed she was embarrassed.
"My bad," he cleared his throat and quickly let go of her, then darted towards the door.
’Embarrassing.’ Luckily, she followed after him without him having to ask.
As they walked out of the dormitory, they received many questionable stares, even from the receptionist who was usually asleep and quiet.
"Like I said, attend your classes and find me when you are done," As soon as they arrived outside, Klaus told her what to do. She straightened herself like a soldier and bowed to Klaus before running off to the main building in a hurry.
’I’m assuming she is late,’ He held back the urge to sigh again. She really had no thought in her head at all.
He followed after her, walking past a couple of students.
Abruptly, he noticed a green-haired girl watching him from afar. She had the usual female academic outfit on, except he had black leather gloves on, which seemed to fit her like a second skin.
’Do I know her?’ No memories were in his head of her, so Klaus just assumed she was watching him, since the original Klaus had no memories of him either.
She wasn’t approaching or saying anything to him, just watching from afar.
’Mirror movement,’ Klaus disappeared then reappeared in front of her. Instantly, her pupils widened as she reached for something in her pocket; however, Klaus had already lifted his hand.
"If you don’t want to be in pain, don’t do anything unreasonable," His voice was raspy and monotone, like an officer discussing something about an operation.
She wasn’t sweating or nervous at all. In fact, the only thing was she was just surprised by the fact that Klaus suddenly appeared in front of her.
"You are just like your brother," Her expression softened; however, her sentence made Klaus scuff as he kept his hand raised.
"Friedrich? Don’t make me laugh—"
"I meant Gilhelm," As soon as he said that name, memories flashed in Klaus’s head, making his hand shake.
His mind blurred back into his childhood, almost like he was reliving scenes instead of watching a movie.
A young child stood next to an older teen. The teen was saying goodbye as he was kicked out of the house.
Because he was a mage.
Gilhelm was just like him, a mage. That’s why he was kicked out of the Alderstein family estate.
"Just like him?" As the memories finished, Klaus asked back. The girl just seemed to be staring at him without saying anything at all.
