Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 56: Why Not Make an Effort in Other Ways
"I’m just feeling a little uncomfortable in my eyes."
Winston Valentine grabbed the spot where Miles Monroe had just held, applying a bit of force, causing Vera Yves to frown in pain.
Miles Monroe stepped forward, "Let go of Vera!"
Winston Valentine chuckled, pulling Vera Yves into his arms.
Vera Yves struggled for a moment, but Winston Valentine held her tighter and looked down at her, "She is my wife, you’re asking me to let go of her! Counselor Monroe really doesn’t consider himself an outsider."
"Since you know she’s your wife, you should cherish her, not continually torment her!"
"Even if Counselor Monroe has never been married, he should have had a girlfriend." Winston Valentine smiled, but his eyes grew colder, "Who told you this is torment? Didn’t Vera tell you it’s between us, a bit of fun?"
Miles Monroe was so angry he clenched his fist, wanting to step forward.
Suddenly, Vera Yves tiptoed to kiss Winston Valentine’s lips, her eyes pleading, "Winston Valentine, shall we go home?"
Winston Valentine’s grip loosened slightly. He circled Vera Yves’s waist and looked at Miles Monroe, "Next time, Counselor Monroe, if you reach out again, don’t blame me for being rude!"
Miles Monroe stood still, his clenched fist slowly relaxing.
Once they left the restaurant, Vera Yves finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Winston Valentine took the car keys from her hand and brought the car around.
Vera Yves sat in the passenger seat, "Your arm..."
"Won’t kill me."
Winston Valentine started the car, his face cold, driving back to the villa.
Neither had eaten much. Vera Yves voluntarily went to the small kitchen and cooked two bowls of noodles.
Winston Valentine watched her calm little face, suddenly pulling her hand and holding her on his lap. Vera Yves struggled slightly, "Winston Valentine, haven’t you caused enough trouble?"
"Me causing trouble?" Winston Valentine sneered, "Vera Yves, you’ve become increasingly bold lately! Entangled with other men, and showing me an attitude when you get home?"
Vera Yves was silent for a while, "I was just having a normal conversation with him." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Talking about what? Discussing how unhappy you are in our marriage, so he can stand up for you again?" Winston Valentine pinched her chin, gritting his teeth, "Three years of marriage, in what way have I not treated you well?"
Vera Yves’s face wrinkled in pain.
In all fairness, he indeed never neglected her in terms of material life. When they married, the Valentine Family did not skimp on the dowry for the Yves Family, despite their imbalance.
But...
"Winston Valentine, do you think our relationship over the past three years has been normal?" Vera Yves looked at him calmly, "I’m your wife, not a pet you call and command at will!"
Winston Valentine looked into her eyes, a self-mocking smile on his face, "A pet? Who would risk everything for a pet?"
"What am I in your eyes?" Winston Valentine caressed her cheek, "No matter if you’re Mrs. Lowell, Mrs. Warren, or Mrs. Chandler, you can still appear so generous and graceful. What you want is just the ’Valentine’ name that comes with Winston Valentine!"
"I..." Vera Yves tried to explain, but her lips were kissed.
Winston Valentine lifted her up, and instinctively, Vera Yves hugged his neck, "Winston Valentine..."
"What, now that Miles Monroe is back, you don’t even want me to touch you?"
"The noodles haven’t been eaten."
"Instead of making noodles to appease me, hoping I won’t trouble Miles Monroe, you’d better try harder in other ways."
"I’m not trying to appease you."
Winston Valentine sneered, carrying her back to the bedroom.
Vera Yves didn’t struggle anymore; she feared to provoke him, leading to harm for the baby inside her, and she also feared he’d get hung up on Miles Monroe, causing trouble for others.
Vera Yves’s compliance only made Winston Valentine angrier.
Was she really going to sacrifice herself for Miles Monroe?
Winston Valentine directly took her to the bathroom; thinking of the memory of him washing her that night, Vera Yves struggled, "Winston Valentine, your arm is still injured, you can’t touch water."
"It’s rare you remember."
"Can we go to bed?"
"What’s the rush?" Winston Valentine placed her by the tub, "You smell bad all over. Let me wash you first."
What bad smell did she have?
"Will you take it off yourself or should I help you?"
Vera Yves felt both ashamed and angry, "I’ll wash myself!"
"Then I’ll help you undress."
Vera Yves blocked his hand, her mind filled with chaotic memories from that night, her breath hastened unconsciously.
His lips kissed hers, Vera Yves had to tilt her head up.
His kiss was rare in its gentleness, and Vera Yves couldn’t help but wrap her arms around his neck, cooperating with him in hopes he’d abandon the idea of washing her.
The temperature in the bathroom rose steadily.
Winston Valentine’s hands braced on the edge of the tub, enclosing her in his embrace.
Vera Yves’s clothes half-fell, her watery eyes tinged with desire.
Looking at her lips kissed into a deep red, Winston Valentine leaned in to her ear and asked, "Mrs. Valentine, do we count as having a normal marital relationship now?"
Vera Yves snapped back to reality, wanting to avoid him.
Winston Valentine continued, "If Miles Monroe saw you like this right now, he definitely wouldn’t want to stand up for you."
"Winston Valentine!"
"Of course, he’d never see you like this in his lifetime!" Winston Valentine kissed her lips again.
Vera Yves wanted to push him away but couldn’t move him at all. She felt the wetness on his wound, tried to speak but never got the chance.
...
Winston Valentine, mindful of her recovering body, for once showed gentleness. However, after they finished, his arm wound burst open again.
Vera Yves, dressed in pajamas, helped him clean, medicate, and bandage the wound.
Afterwards, her stomach growled with hunger, so Vera Yves went downstairs.
She disposed of the now cold noodles and put new ones in to cook.
Winston Valentine hugged her from behind, her body tensing slightly, "Want some?"
"The noodles my wife cooked with her own hands, of course I’ll eat." Winston Valentine hugged her tighter, breathing in her familiar scent, "Have you ever cooked noodles for Miles Monroe before?"
Vera Yves paused in her actions, "No."
Back then, when she was hungry, Miles would cook for her. In his eyes, she was always a child needing care.
"What are you thinking about?" Winston Valentine noticed her distraction, planting a kiss behind her ear.
Vera Yves flinched away sensitively, turning around to push him away, "Can you wait outside?"
Winston Valentine braced his hands on the counter behind her, looking into her eyes, "No."
Vera Yves, unable to push him away, tried to turn, but Winston Valentine leaned in, kissing her lips. Vera Yves wanted to retreat but found she had nowhere to go.
"The noodles..."
Winston Valentine turned off the stove and placed her hand on his waist, "Focus."
Vera Yves didn’t want to focus, she just wanted to eat noodles.
Winston Valentine noticed her indifference, deliberately deepening the kiss.
"Buzz buzz..."
The phone vibrated.
Winston Valentine finally released her, capturing her dominantly with one arm.
Answering the call, Samantha Warren’s anxious voice came through, "Winston, I’m begging you as an aunt, can you come to the hospital to see Cecilia? Since you left, she hasn’t eaten or spoken..."
