Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 39: She Can’t Bear It If Winston Leaves
Even if Samantha Warren doesn’t say it, she can imagine how he would take care of Cecilia Vaughn.
She is the person he holds close to his heart.
Even if all of this is Cecilia Vaughn’s scheme, so what, she’s using Winston Valentine’s concern for her.
And what does Vera Yves have? She doesn’t even have the right to ask for a divorce.
It’s ridiculous to think that she still held some expectations for him.
After gathering her thoughts, Vera Yves went to find Old Mrs. Valentine.
Old Mrs. Valentine saw her eyes were a bit red and held her hand, "Vera, I heard Cecilia is in the hospital, accompany Grandma to the hospital to see her."
Vera Yves looked at Old Mrs. Valentine in surprise.
Old Mrs. Valentine spoke earnestly, "A kind person is bullied, no matter the time, remember that you are the legitimately married wife of Winston, and things he can’t cut off, you must help him cut!"
Old Mrs. Valentine took Vera Yves to the hospital.
Cecilia Vaughn was in a VIP ward, with bodyguards outside. They dared not stop Old Mrs. Valentine.
Vera Yves went to open the door, inside came Cecilia Vaughn’s crying voice, "Winston, I’m so scared, as soon as I close my eyes, I see him rushing at me! Don’t leave, okay?"
"I won’t leave, you sleep well."
"Will you always stay with me?"
"Yes."
"Winston, can you hold me..."
With a "bang!", Old Mrs. Valentine had already pushed the door open, and only then did Vera Yves come back to her senses.
Old Mrs. Valentine patted her hand, walked into the ward, and Vera Yves pressed down the bitterness in her heart and followed in.
"Grandma, why are you here?" Winston Valentine stood up, his gaze sweeping over Vera Yves with a bit of dissatisfaction.
Old Mrs. Valentine said slowly, "Something so big happened to Cecilia, how can I, as a grandmother, not come to see her."
Old Mrs. Valentine’s sharp eyes swept over Cecilia Vaughn.
Cecilia Vaughn suddenly felt guilty, she lowered her head, her voice weak, "Grandma, I... I’m fine, thank you for your concern."
"Since you’re fine, Winston, you should go home and take a break and go to the company."
"Grandma..."
Old Mrs. Valentine sat on the sofa on the side, "What, as the company president, can you be so negligent?"
Cecilia Vaughn shed tears down her cheeks, sobbing, "Winston... third brother, go, don’t worry about me... just let me live or die here."
"Grandma, Cecilia’s mental state is not good..."
"Don’t worry, once you leave, she won’t be left to die; Grandma will watch over her for you!" Old Mrs. Valentine looked at Vera Yves, "Vera, accompany Winston home."
As soon as Samantha Warren entered the ward, she heard Old Mrs. Valentine’s words and hurriedly said, "Mom, Winston can’t leave! The doctor said Cecilia can’t be stimulated again! If Winston leaves, she can’t take it!"
Old Mrs. Valentine glanced at her, "She doesn’t have only Winston as a brother; if worse comes to worst, there are a few cousins, at worst find her another one."
Samantha Warren glared at Vera Yves fiercely, "Mom, usually you protect Vera, it’s fine, but she did such a thing, how can you still protect her?"
Old Mrs. Valentine calmly said, "I really don’t understand, what did Vera do?"
Samantha Warren gritted her teeth, "She saw that Cecilia and Luke Shaw’s marriage couldn’t work out, so she deliberately incited Luke Shaw, wanting him to ruin Cecilia’s purity, so Cecilia had no choice but to marry!"
Old Mrs. Valentine remained unmoved, "Evidence?"
"She admitted to giving Luke Shaw an invitation! Isn’t that evidence?" Samantha Warren pointed at Vera Yves, "She previously even incited her brother to kidnap Cecilia, wanting to ruin Cecilia’s purity. If Cecilia hadn’t resisted unto death..."
Samantha Warren started crying as she spoke.
Old Mrs. Valentine frowned, disdainful, "You say Vera instigated, then you must provide evidence of instigation, otherwise it’s slander!"
Samantha Warren gritted her teeth, "Mom, what more evidence do we need? Does Cecilia have to be driven to death by her before you..."
"I know what kind of child Vera is, if you can’t produce evidence, don’t let me hear such words a second time!"
Old Mrs. Valentine, calm yet authoritative, left Samantha Warren seething, yet afraid to speak.
Cecilia Vaughn said softly, "Mom, it’s not third sister-in-law’s fault, it’s my fault... don’t upset Grandma anymore."
Old Mrs. Valentine glanced at Cecilia Vaughn, "Since you shouldn’t be stimulated, then leave here, change the environment. The person has been caught, rest assured, your third brother will seek justice for you."
Cecilia Vaughn, pale-faced, looked at Old Mrs. Valentine, "Grandma, I don’t want to leave..."
"Grandma!" Winston Valentine’s expression was serious, "The doctor said Cecilia cannot be stimulated again."
"If you don’t want her stimulated, then quickly go home with Vera?" Old Mrs. Valentine said calmly, "In the hospital, there is your aunt, she is enough."
Winston Valentine was silent for a moment and then walked out of the ward.
Cecilia Vaughn watched his back, crying sadly, "Winston..."
Old Mrs. Valentine smiled as she looked at Vera Yves, "Vera, still standing in a daze, go home with Winston."
Only then did Vera Yves leave the ward.
Once she was out the door, she was grabbed by Winston Valentine by the wrist; his grip was strong, causing Vera Yves to frown in pain.
Pulled into a quiet corner, Winston Valentine looked at her coldly, "Are you satisfied?"
Vera Yves, rubbing her wrist, looked back unyieldingly, "Winston Valentine, I am not as vile as you think!"
"I think vile?" Winston Valentine sneered, suddenly grabbing her by the throat, pinning her against the wall, "Why are you so good at pretending? Why must you ruin her?"
Vera Yves grabbed his hand, her expression pained, "I didn’t!"
"You and Luke Shaw shouldn’t be close enough to send him an invitation!"
Vera Yves felt the air growing thinner, "It was him... he said he had clues about my grandfather’s wrongful accusation, so I gave him an invite, and I especially told security to watch him!"
Tears welled up in Vera Yves’s eyes, seeing her in pain, Winston Valentine finally let go.
"Do you think I would believe such a poor excuse?"
Vera Yves covered her neck, gasping for breath, and said despairingly, "I never expected you to believe. Since you hate me so much, why not stop wronging yourself, divorce me, then you won’t have to worry about me hurting your beloved woman anymore?"
"Divorce? So your Counselor Monroe can help you sue me, strip me to the bone?"
Vera Yves, face pale, shook her head, "I won’t want anything!"
"Don’t pretend to be so noble!" Winston Valentine sneered, "You went through so much trouble to become Mrs. Valentine, would you really be willing to divorce?"
A marriage with no future, what is there to hold on to?
Vera Yves looked into his eyes, her voice flat yet determined, "Willing."
Winston Valentine’s handsome face was icy, "Mrs. Valentine is really fond of saying one thing to my face and doing another behind my back, saying you’re willing, yet using any dirty tricks at your disposal behind the scenes."
Vera Yves’s eyes were defiant, "Winston Valentine, without evidence, you cannot slander me like this!"
"Evidence? This is my last warning, dare to touch Cecilia again, and I will make you and the entire Yves Family pay!"
Winston Valentine looked at her with disgust, the previous twinge of guilt he had for her was completely gone. She was Vera Yves, the woman who used every trick in the book to become Mrs. Valentine, how foolish of him to once think she was innocent!
