Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 135: Wouldn’t Marry If It Were Someone Else
"I heard that the group that owns this ski resort hired Jane Shea as a spokesperson. She came specifically to shoot a promotional video today."
"Didn’t she get injured riding a horse and end up in the hospital a few days ago? How’s she shooting?"
"Who knows."
Zoe Monroe commented from the side, "That woman sure is dedicated!"
As everyone walked into the hotel lobby, they saw Jane Shea sitting in the first floor lounge having an interview with a media outlet.
Miles Monroe held Vera Yves’s hand and looked down at her, "What do you want for dinner?"
"Just something casual at the restaurant."
Zoe Monroe chimed in, "I want a lavish meal. Vera, how about we soak in the hot spring afterward?"
Vera Yves nodded.
The four of them went upstairs together.
Jane Shea’s gaze unconsciously fell on the tightly-held hands of the two, missing the reporter’s questions until her assistant reminded her, snapping her back to reality.
At the restaurant, Zoe Monroe ordered a lot of dishes. Vera Yves, having been active all day, had a good appetite and ate quite a bit.
Not far away, Winston Valentine sat by the window, with Cecilia Vaughn smiling as she spoke to him, though Winston Valentine didn’t appear to be listening attentively.
"Winston, are you listening to me?"
Cecilia Vaughn’s smile gradually faded.
Winston Valentine looked at her expressionlessly, "Why did you come along?"
"Of course, to worry about you. Your body hasn’t recovered yet, why did you insist on coming to ski? Was it for Vera Yves?" Cecilia Vaughn gripped her cutlery tightly.
"Were the photos taken at The Monroe Family’s banquet arranged by you?"
"I’m not that boring!" Cecilia Vaughn’s expression darkened, "In the past, I could comfort myself by saying it was because you were cautious about our identities that we couldn’t be together! But what about now? Even Grandma and Uncle have agreed to our marriage!"
Cecilia Vaughn’s eyes reddened, "Why won’t you relent? Do you still have feelings for Vera Yves, wanting to be with her?"
"If I wanted to marry you, I wouldn’t have let you go abroad years ago." Winston Valentine’s gaze fell on her face, "When my Aunt married into The Valentine Family, there was no longer a possibility for us."
Cecilia Vaughn looked at him incredulously, "Then what were all your care and concern for me? Winston Valentine, I don’t believe you have no feelings for me! We clearly liked each other once, even if you’ve changed your mind, you shouldn’t deny our past!"
"If I truly liked you as much as you think, I wouldn’t have married Vera Yves." Winston Valentine leaned back on his chair, "Even if Grandma forced me with any other woman, I still wouldn’t marry."
Cecilia Vaughn’s face turned paler, her voice strained, "Did you have feelings for her back then?"
"Stop wasting your time on me." Winston Valentine’s gaze turned icy, "I tolerate many things only for the sentiment of the past, but who knows until when that sentiment will last?"
Cecilia Vaughn felt a chill down her spine from his gaze.
Winston Valentine stood up and left the restaurant. Cecilia Vaughn closed her eyes, wondering where it all went wrong. He clearly knew Vera Yves was his half-sister, but why...
Could he have already discovered that the DNA test documents were fake?
Cecilia Vaughn anxiously grabbed her phone and hurried out of the restaurant.
After dinner, the group went to soak in the hot spring.
Zoe Monroe and Vera Yves went to the changing room to change into swimsuits. Seeing Vera Yves in hers, Zoe Monroe exclaimed, "Wow!" The purple bikini covered with a white mesh hinted at a great figure.
"Vera, your skin is so fair! Did you make body lotion yourself?"
Zoe Monroe couldn’t help but touch her, "It’s not only fair but also smooth."
Vera Yves laughed, "I didn’t, but I’ll recommend the brand to you when I get back."
"Do you still have the cream you gave me last time? After using it, my skin really turned supple!"
"I’ll get it for you next time."
Unable to reserve the hotel’s private hot spring pool and with the gender-segregated sections here, Zoe Monroe lamented, "With such a great figure, you should have a wet-play with my cousin!"
Vera Yves helplessly tapped Zoe Monroe’s forehead, inexplicably recalling the time she got drunk and Winston Valentine teased her in the bathroom. She shook her head, trying not to let her imagination run wild.
The two entered the hot spring pool, and Zoe Monroe couldn’t help but vent, "I knew Jane Shea would inevitably haunt my cousin! She’s chased him here! To avoid complications, Vera, maybe you should directly register for marriage with my cousin! Even if she’s a white lotus, she’s at least a celebrity and can’t openly be a third wheel!"
Vera Yves thought of Miles Monroe’s proposal but didn’t respond.
"Vera, have you seen the online rumors? They’re actually quite understated," Zoe Monroe whispered, "My uncle once investigated her and found out that Jane Shea’s family is very poor. Her dad’s a disabled person, her mom even..."
Suddenly, there was a commotion outside, interrupting Zoe Monroe.
"There’s a fight!" Someone shouted.
The noise outside grew louder.
Zoe Monroe immediately got up, grabbed a towel beside her, and wrapped it around herself, "Come on, Vera, there’s a fight! Let’s watch the spectacle! It seems to be at the men’s section! Maybe we can get a glimpse of some handsome guys!"
Vera Yves was tugged along by Zoe Monroe, and she had no choice but to grab a towel and wrap it around herself as well.
The male spring’s attendant was nowhere in sight, probably inside trying to break up the fight. Zoe Monroe dragged Vera Yves in, indeed seeing a group of people gathering.
"Bang!"
The sound of a fist hitting flesh.
"You two, stop fighting!"
Zoe Monroe squinted, "I think I see Theodore Xavier trying to break it up?"
Vera Yves’s gaze darkened.
Zoe Monroe sensed something wasn’t right, "Excuse me, please let us through!"
"Damn! Why are there women here? I’m not wearing swim trunks!" Someone shouted. The bystanders turned, allowing Zoe Monroe to finally pull Vera Yves inside.
"Bang!" They saw Winston Valentine throw a punch, hitting Miles Monroe in the face.
With Theodore Xavier blocking him, Miles Monroe couldn’t dodge.
Vera Yves angrily shouted, "Winston Valentine, stop it!"
Miles Monroe managed to retaliate, landing a punch on Winston Valentine’s face, causing him to stumble back a step. His gaze darkened as he quickly pinned Miles Monroe to the ground, the two of them grappling intensely.
Theodore Xavier hurried to separate the two, while Zoe Monroe glared at him, "Theodore, if you meddle unfairly, I’m breaking up with you!"
Theodore Xavier raised his hands in surrender, "In all honesty, I’m not meddling unfairly!"
Under Zoe Monroe’s glare, Theodore dared not make a move.
"Stop!"
Vera Yves saw the two fighting fiercely and wanted to go forward to separate them.
"Bang!" She didn’t know whose elbow hit her cheek.
Vera Yves was knocked to the ground, pain sparkling in her eyes.
"Vera Yves!"
"Vera!"
