To His Hell and Back-Chapter 276: Grim Power-I
Chapter 276: Grim Power-I
Arabella who had gone quiet shook her head, "I trust him," she said and Isabelle turned slightly.
"When I was young, I saw my father promising a bunch of empty promises to my mother," Isabelle had rode the horse with such speed that left everything a blur and the words she said became even clearer against the wind.
"Being the King, he could do whatever he wanted and that what he was set to do, to find his own happiness even if it means tricking innocent girls who believed in him and gave him their first time. How foolish isn’t it? A woman’s purity is always judged, but the men? They could have three wives, divorce them when they aren’t needed anymore, but the women? They were forced to wait and once they have been married, they were seen as sullied."
Arabella had never heard Isabelle spoke so openly yet for the first time she felt as though this was the real princess Isabelle, not that her kindness to her had always been fake, but for the first time, the princess had opened her heart to her.
"When my mother died, he began to make promises to me," said Isabelle, "How disgusting, how deplorable, he’s nothing but a human garbage that cannot be thrown away. How much I wish that I could see him beneath the grave, bury him while he’s alive and stomp on top of the fresh burial mound. All men," she paused, "All of them aren’t worth your life."
The hatred was stinging and it was impossible not to hear. Arabella who also had quite the father herself went quiet. Unlike Isabelle, she had always thought that both men and women aren’t to be trusted. Humans, vampires, none could be trusted by your own life.
Perhaps that was why a part of her had always been dependent on her sister. It was because she knew that Ariel would never leave her, never betray her.
That was why it had hurt so much to see that instead of coming back home, Ariel had came to Morpheus.
A part of her still believe that her sister had went for a good reason but another part of her questioned why no one had prioritized her, making her feel chosen.
Was that... too much to ask?
"But perhaps there is one out there, one who you could trust your life with," muttered Arabella, trying to help the princess to have a better outlook on life.
But Isabelle scoffed, "You know when my father saw me at seventeen, he forgot that I was his own daughter and invited me to the party in the castle. I didn’t used to live in the castle but upon seeing me, he seemed charmed and had almost thought of marrying me."
Arabella felt goosebumps crawling from her arms to her back, she stared at Isabelle’s hair, the luxurious silk like texture and wondered what sort of expression the princess had on her face which she suspected would be filled with such hatred.
"But I do wish," Isabelle whispered, "I do wish that the crown prince you trusted so much wouldn’t betray you."
For some reason she could tell that this time, Isabelle had said this words sincerely.
"I don’t wish for bad things to the people I love," Isabelle continued, "But I’ll turn the entire world dark if it means saving them."
Arabella couldn’t say anything in return, speechless as she stared at Isabelle. A puzzle had fit into her head and though she didn’t want to think too much of it, she felt that what she had been feeling to be out of place as finally put to answer.
Closing her eyes, Arabella let Isabelle brought her further inside the woods.
Meanwhile the hiding Iliza had been caught.
She had been fearful upon seeing Isabelle and while Donna had jumped out to save Arabella, she had instead sneaked out from the stone and ran with such speed over the opposite side.
What she didn’t know was that instead of running to the place which was far safer, she had ran to the place where Isabelle had chased the vampires away.
In less than five minutes, Isabelle ran to the group of vampires, seven in total.
To make it worse, her luck ran out on her, causing for her feet to be trapped in a bear trap. Her ankles bleed out, the smell, and the sound of her heartbeat caught the attention of every vampires nearby before she could force open the bear trap or hide.
"Lady luck seems to be on your side today, Noah," said someone from the side.
Noah, the young man with the deep red eyes seemed disinterested as he came to a stop in front of Iliza. The other folks beside him was too excited at the sight of the new prey that they have even chosen whose turn it was to get the point.
But Noah was still unbothered. Instead of looking at Iliza, his eyes were following the sight of a white cat that he had kept notice since they stepped inside the forest.
He had followed the white cat but it seems instead, his friends thought that he had a plan on the hunt which caused them to follow him all around and hunt the humans they found on the way.
The white cat seemed to have came into a stop and Noah’s eyes stopped at Iliza, wondering if she was the one but before he had made the choice whether to save her or to leave her be to the hands of his friends, the cat moved away.
Noah swept one more look to the Iliza and walked away while his friends cheered, thinking that meant Noah had stepped away so that Iliza could be their prey.
"Noah has always been so quiet, sometimes at times like this he feels mysterious."
"Other times it makes him feel eerie," another one chirped. "Well I heard when he was young he could speak with ghosts?"
"I heard he could still see them."
"Well it’s not that surprising, is it? After all Noah’s mother never revealed the father. There were rumors that she had gotten pregnant with someone who was already married- or even a demon."
"Shush," someone else cut, "Why are you folk gossiping your own friend? Who cares if Noah comes from a demon or even those sorcerers, he’s on our side and that’s all that matters. Now, to whom should we give this point to?" freeweɓnovel~cѳm
"I— I can help you!"
The voice that broke out in stammer was Iliza’s. She had cried and wrecked her head to stay alive, finally finding a way with an idea she had considered to be bright, "I know- I know where the thousands point is. know where she is and I can show you the way to find her- I promise- i won’t lie... But I will only tell you if you promise to spare my life..."
The group of vampires who had circled her like wolves suddenly came to a stop. With eyebrows raised, they grinned, "You said you know where she is?"
"I know! I just saw her."
"Woah selling a human for her own life," whispered another but Iliza had grown her skin thick so she didn’t feel the shame of it.
"Alright," sang the vampire who seemed to be the leader of them, Johann. "Show me the way then."
