Chapter 188: Let’s just check it

Chin-hwa finally woke up two hours later and found Kang-woo by his side.

This place seemed unfamiliar. Where were they? It felt like they were in a hospital, but why?

"Hwa," Kang-woo called as he raised his head and found Chin-hwa’s eyes open. "You’re finally awake,"

His tone was filled with relief and gratitude. He held Chin-hwa’s hand and kissed it.

"Thank goodness,"

"What’s going on, Byul?" Chin-hwa asked as he made to sit up, and Kang-woo helped him up.

"You collapsed and so I took you to the hospital," Kang-woo explained.

"I collapsed?" Chin-hwa looked shocked. Why would he collapse? He felt fine.

"The doctor’s said there’s nothing to worry about but..." He pursed his lips, looking away.

He had decided not to do anything and wait for Hwa to wake up. But now that Chin-hwa was awake, he didn’t know how to bring it up.

How would he react? What would he say?

It wasn’t like he could hide it if he wanted to. This was his body, and it had to do with a life that was growing in his belly, so he deserved to know.

"Hwa, I need to tell you something," he said. "But before that, we need to run a scan on your belly."

Kang-woo didn’t know if Chin-hwa would believe him if he told him he was pregnant, even if he saw the test results that were carried out while he was unconscious.

Just to be sure, Kang-woo asked for a test to be conducted, and it came out positive.

So, since he had no idea how Chin-hwa would react or if he would even believe it, he decided to do a scan. If there really was a baby, then it would show right there.

"A scan?" Chin-hwa asked. "Do you think I might’ve fainted due to my excessive eating habit these days?"

He was so innocent, asking such a question, that it pained Kang-woo’s heart to know he had done something like this to him.

"Let’s just check it."

They did the scan and though the baby was but a little dot in Chin-hwa’s womb, it was there.

And seeing that, Kang-woo could no longer deny reality. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"So, what’s the result?" Chin-hwa asked, but Kang-woo did not say anything. He didn’t know what to say.

Should he just go right ahead and announce to Chin-hwa that he was pregnant? Or should he just wait till they get home? That way, if Chin-hwa collapsed from the news, it wouldn’t be in front of so many people.

"I’ll tell you when we get home." Kang-woo said to him. "Let’s just go for now."

Chin-hwa thought it wasn’t a big deal, so he decided to just let it go. If he were really sick, then Kang-woo wouldn’t be so calm. But his calmness was also a bit puzzling. What did he see in the result?

"Thank you," Chin-hwa thanked Kang-woo as he helped him down from the car.

"Watch your step," Kang-woo said, and Chin-hwa laughed.

"Why are you acting like that? It’s not like I’ll faint for every step I take." Chin-hwa said, dismissing his caution, and walked ahead, but Kang-woo stood there, pursing his lips as he pondered on his own action.

Chin-hwa walked into the house as he normally would and headed for the kitchen, taking his snacks from the refrigerator and sitting in the living room.

"I’m starving," he said and watched Kang-woo walk in through the front door. "We haven’t had lunch yet. What should we eat?"

"Well," Kang-woo was sluggish with his words.

"Should we order pizza?" Chin-hwa quickly suggested.

He didn’t feel like eating cooked food at the moment, so he just said the first thing that came to mind.

"You want to eat Pizza?" Kang-woo asked, and Chin-hwa nodded. "Then I’ll order pizza. Is there anything else?"

Chin-hwa gave it a little thought but shook his head and said,

"Just pizza is fine."

He made the call while heading up the stairs. His mind was in chaos. He didn’t know what to think or do. Now that they were at home. It was the right time to tell Chin-hwa about the news, but... He felt so reluctant, as if every cell in his body was against the idea.

But he couldn’t keep it a secret.

After the delivery arrived, Kang-woo watched Chin-hwa as he ate a slice in delight.

"Aren’t you going to eat?" Chin-hwa asked as he noticed Kang-woo was simply watching him. And in his hand seemed to be the results of the scan from the hospital. "Byul, is... Is something wrong?"

Kang-woo had been weirdly calm. So calm that it was becoming alarming. Usually at this time, he would be smiling as he watched him eat or join him, telling him to eat slowly, but instead, he simply stared at him with a rather anxious look in his eyes.

It definitely had something to do with the results from the hospital, but he just couldn’t figure out what it was.

"Byul," Chin-hwa called, and Kang-woo raised his gaze, finally going to say it.

"Chin-hwa, I’m sorry," Kang-woo apologized first and foremost. "I didn’t... I didn’t know this would happen. I don’t even know how to say it. I don’t know how to tell you because I’m ashamed, scared, and worried. I... I’ve made a big mess. I’m sure of it. But I have no idea how to clean it up."

Chin-hwa listened to him. Something had indeed happened but... What was it that made Kang-woo look like a wreck? What was the news?

Wait, it couldn’t be...

"Are you going to die?" Chin-hwa asked with a dead look in his eyes, and Kang-woo gasped.

"What? No! No, no one’s dying." He said and hearing this, Chin-hwa let out a sigh of relief.

If it wasn’t the terminal illness relapse and he wasn’t dying, then it was fine. Nothing could be worse than that.

Chin-hwa decided to continue eating while waiting for Kang-woo to speak up, but as he was about to take a bite of the pizza, Kang-woo said,

"Hwa, you’re pregnant." Chin-hwa paused, his eyes gradually widening as he heard this.

What did he just say? Was this a joke?

With a stiffened neck, he turned his head towards Kang-woo, who had this serious expression on his face.

Kang-woo closed his eyes and looked away, unable to face Chin-hwa’s reaction, and said,

"You’re two months pregnant. It... It’s all my fault."
