To Byul (Omegaverse)-Chapter 134: Come, I’ll drive you to your dorm
"Ah, looks like I struck a nerve." Deok-ryu said and Myung-woo clicked his tongue.
"Did you have to interrupt at this point?" He asked, resting on the railing and shoving his fingers through his hair. "He was about to agree to let me take him home."
"Well, bummer. You’ll have better luck next time." Deok-ryu said, patting his back. He showed no remorse for ruining his friend’s chances, but rather, he was curious. "So, is he really the one?" He asked, his expression turning serious.
"Yes, he is." Deok-ryu answered. "Yun-tae is definitely my fated partner."
Fated partner.
Between Alphas and Omegas, the term ’fated partner’ was believed to be that every Alpha had a destined Omega, a soulmate meant to be their lifelong companion. The one they would mark, bond with, and cherish forever.
The idea was rooted in the belief that fate played a significant role in bringing these pairs together. Perhaps it was written from the time they were born, or they’d meet by chance, only to be separated and reunited years later. Or maybe their paths would cross in unexpected ways, sparking an unbreakable connection. One could save the other and then get saved in return later in the future.
It worked in a tricky way but it worked.
As long as a bond was formed through those encounters, it was thought that they were meant to be – fated partners, destined to spend their lives together.
And when they chance upon that person, their heart would seem to have no room for anyone else.
Deok-ryu looked at Myung-woo and then sighed.
"Well, I’m happy for you if that’s the case." He said, resting on the railing with him. "Since he’s Hwa’s friend, you’ll see him a lot when Hwa comes over so you’ll have plenty of chances."
"Haha, I’m not waiting for him to come to me before I act." He said and grinned. "I’d rather go to him. Only then, will my sincerity be seen."
"Well, do whatever you like."
"Hm," Myung-woo turned his head to him. "By the way, how’s Nari?"
"What about him?" He asked and Myung-woo squinted his eyes in suspicion. "What is it? Spill it out."
"Well, it’s nothing to be concerned about." Myung-woo said, shaking his head. "I just don’t know if the kids of this family are just blind to love signals or something like that."
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Deok-ryu asked, his teeth grinding in agitation but Myung-woo did not say more.
He-Nari was quite the peculiar one indeed but he was not the type to let go of what he set his mind towards so easily, so it was only a matter of time before he acted out, hm?
Chin-hwa talked with Baek-Hyun about an issue he never thought he would bring up. He was genuinely concerned but... Chin-hwa was not sure if it was okay.
(I’ll disclose this later)
"It’s alright, Hwa," Baek-Hyun said, hugging him and Chin-hwa wrapped his arms around his father.
He felt sad.
"It’s okay. I know it takes time to put your feelings at ease but you don’t necessarily have to. Just embrace them." Baek-Hyun said. "It’s not a bad thing and no one will blame you for it."
Chin-hwa clutched his father’s shirt tightly and buried his face.
"Alright, Dad. I’ll listen to you."
"Alright, good boy." He stroked his hair.
After a while, Chin-hwa broke the hug and Baek-Hyun smiled warmly to his face.
"Come, I’ll drive you to your dorm."
Yun-tae picked up his stuff and headed for the car once he saw that they were done. He sat in the back seat while Chin-hwa sat in the passenger’s seat.
"Thank you for the ride, Ahjussi." Yun-tae said, bowing his head from the back seat.
"It’s alright." Baek-Hyun said with a calm and settling voice.
As the car drove away from the Chin-hwa’s family residence, Yun-tae’s eyelids began to droop. The warmth of the car and the soothing sound of Baek-Hyun’s voice as he chatted with Chin-hwa had lulled him into a peaceful sleep.
They got to the dorm room a few minutes to 10 so they were lucky.
Chin-Hwa took off his seatbelt and called,
"Yun, we’re here." But there was no response. He looked back and found him fast asleep.
He must’ve been so exhausted after all he had been through that day.
"I think he’s asleep, Dad." he said, his voice low. "Should I wake him? I don’t think I can carry him."
Baek-Hyun shook his head and said,
"Don’t worry, I’ll carry him inside, then."
Chin-hwa was a bit surprised but he nodded and allowed his father to do just that.
Baek-Hyun carefully lifted Yun-tae out of the car and into his arms. Yun-tae stirred slightly, but he didn’t wake up.
Chin-hwa led the way into the dorm and then knocked on Yun-tae’s dorm room door.
The door opened and Yun-tae’s roommate opened the door.
"I brought Yun-tae back," he said, and his roommate gave way to let them in, but as he saw Baek-Hyun, his eyes squinted, trying to recognize the familiar silhouette.
"Ah, aren’t you..." his eyes widened as he recognized Baek-Hyun right away. "CEO Baek-Hyun!" he exclaimed, his voice barely above a whisper.
Chin-hwa’s eyes darted to his father, a hint of concern in his expression.
"Please, could you do us a favor and keep this a secret?" he asked Yun-tae’s roommate who nodded continuously.
He looked excited since a big shot had actually visited his dorm room. But what was the relationship between Baek-Hyun and Chin-hwa?
And why was he carrying Yun-tae?
"Don’t worry; I’m just here to drop off Yun-Tae." Baek-Hyun said.
He laid Yun-tae on the bed and walked out.
Chin-hwa felt Yun-Tae’s roommate would still have a bunch of questions to ask so he said,
"Once Yun-tae wakes up, ask him about me."
Chin-hwa was actually no longer concerned about others finding out his secret. So, even if Yun-tae’s roommate ended up tattling, it was okay.
"Thank you, Dad," Chin-hwa said, his voice muffled against Baek-Hyun’s chest. They were in front of his dorm room.
Baek-Hyun hugged him back, his voice warm. "Anytime, my baby. Just be safe, we’ll come over to watch your performance on Friday, so..." He kissed the top of Chin-hwa’s head. "... Do your best."
Chin-hwa smiled warmly and broke the hug, waving at him.
"Bye, dad."
"I’ll let your mom know you arrived safely." He said and turned away.
As Chin-hwa watched his father leave, he took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his exhaustion settle in.
He put on the password and made his way into the room, dropping onto his bed with a sigh. He picked up one of his plushies, hugging it tightly as he stared up at the ceiling.
His mind began to wander, reminiscing about the talk he had with his father earlier. Baek-Hyun had asked about his relationship with Kang-woo and if everything was okay between them.
He simply stared that things were where they should be but Baek-Hyun looked like he knew something and actually revealed that he knew he had feelings for Kang-woo.
If he wanted to confess, he should not hesitate, but if he was too scared, then he couldn’t keep loving him in secret. It wasn’t a crime to love someone so purely and wholeheartedly, so he did not deserve to suffer for loving him.
These words made him so emotional that he almost cried but he held it in.
Things were in their right place at the moment so the only thing he would regret is...
Chin-hwa’s eyelashes slowly fluttered and his heavy eyelids finally kissed each other. He felt grateful for his father’s concern, for his love and support.
The next day, Chin-hwa and Yun-tae walked around campus, taking in the sights and sounds of the school festival preparations. Everywhere they looked, there were colorful decorations and bustling students.
Yun-tae even talked about how his roommate had so enthusiastically greeted him this morning with a thousand questions about Chin-hwa’s identity and how he was related to Baek-Hyun.
He almost forgot his roommate was in journalism. Well, if Chin-hwa trusted him with that bit of information then it was fine.
So, he told him everything and his quest for more knowledge grew. Yet, he could not share it.
But he was grateful for this piece of information.
"He’s so energetic," Yun-tae said and they both laughed
As they sat down on a bench, sipping bubble tea and chatting, Dong-cha and Seoung-bo approached them. The two girls were laughing and teasing each other, and Chin-hwa couldn’t help but smile.
"Hey, guys!" Dong-cha exclaimed, plopping down beside them. "What’s up?"
Yun-tae saw this and sighed in relief.
"Dong-cha’s being her usual self again. Thank goodness," he said.
"Well, we cleared our misunderstanding." Dong-cha said, wrapping her arms around Seoung-bo.
Yun-tae chuckled, shaking his head. "I see that."
"So, hey, how was your weekend?" Seoung-bo asked, sitting next to Chin-hwa while Dong-cha sat next to Yun-tae, sand wishing the two in the middle.
"It was mostly about practicing the Piano and getting ready for my presentation with Kang-woo." Chin-hwa said and smiled. "So, it wasn’t anything eventful."
"Oh, I see."
