Chapter 101: It’s nice to meet you, sir

Meanwhile, a few hours back, just after Yun-tae had left, Chin-hwa and Kang-woo bumped into Chin-hwa’s parents.

"Mommy and dad?" Chin-hwa called in surprise. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, funny bumping into you here, my little Hwa," Hae-won said and then noticed Chin-hwa and Kang-woo were holding hands.

Oh, it was such a cute development. Had they patched things up? He wondered, for them to hold hands like that in the open.

Had they finally confessed to each other?

"Do I hear wedding bells?" Hae-won subconsciously asked and Chin-hwa’s eyes widened.

"What... What are you talking about? What wedding bells?" He flushed and Hae-won laughed. "Don’t tease us like that."

"Hm, it seems you’re not quite there yet." Hae-won said, covering his mouth in glee as he watched his young one blush.

"What are you even talking about?" Chin-hwa was beyond embarrassed. He didn’t even know where all that talk was coming from.

"Hwa," Baek-Hyun called and Chin-hwa looked at his dad.

Baek-Hyun was wearing a suit and a coat above that suit with a long scarf barely wrapped around his neck and looking like something that had been dropped around his shoulder for decoration.

He still looked so stunning even though he was no longer in his prime. Wait, he was younger than his mom by a year or two, so maybe he was still in his prime.

In any case, he had that calm and collected air around him that just made it seem like with him everything would be okay.

He stretched his hands out and Hwa went to hug him, leaving Kang-woo behind.

His dad’s hug was just so comforting. Maybe it was because of the calm and rational energy he gave off.

He also liked Woo-bin hugs, but most of the time, it got a bit too much. (No offense. The love is just too suffocating)

"How are you?" He asked, brushing Chin-hwa’s hair softly. "I didn’t see you this morning cause I had to rush off to work."

"Yeah, I heard." Chin-hwa said, slowly breaking the hug but Baek-Hyun was quite reluctant.

Yes, his hugs were calm, but he was just as much of a sucker as the rest; once he had Chin-hwa in his arms, he was reluctant to let go.

"Oh, let him be." Hae-won said. "You can hug me instead," he said and Baek-Hyun took Hae-won in his arms, hugging him. "That feels nice, right?"

"Yeah," Baek-Hyun said, smiling in satisfaction.

Chin-hwa watched his parents act all lovey-dovey in front of him and while they were in public, too. Well, he wasn’t embarrassed. He had faced much worse to be embarrassed by this little.

"So, Daddy was right when he said you two would go out on a date without him." Chin-hwa said, laughing quietly.

"Oh, he’s as sharp as ever," Baek-Hyun said as they broke the hug, and he looked at Kang-woo, who was waiting for the right moment to greet them.

"It’s nice to meet you, sir." He said and Baek-Hyun walked towards him.

He stood in front of him, a bit menacing, but he simply dropped his hand on Kang-woo’s head and ruffled his hair really badly.

"Sir?" He asked. "Just because you’re all grown, it doesn’t mean you should start treating me like a stranger. I’m not your superior at work and I’m not someone you’re just seeing for the first time. So, why the formal tone?"

Kang-woo lowered his head, blushing. It was because he was nervous about having been caught with Chin-Hwa like that.

The words just blurted out of his mouth the way they did.

"Then," he raised his head, barely getting over the blush on his cheek, and said, "How are you doing, Samchon?"

(Samchon means Uncle. But this uncle is a relative. Since Hae-won and Ga-ram are closer than friends, like sworn brothers or something, they’re like relatives)

Baek-Hyun suddenly started laughing.

"You still look so timid when you’re nervous. I guess some things never change." He said and turned to Chin-hwa. "You two were out on a date, weren’t you?"

"W-what? A... A date?" Chin-hwa’s face turned completely red.

"Oh my! He’s embarrassed." Hae-won said, rubbing his cheeks over Chin-hwa’s. "My baby is embarrassed we caught him on his date."

"B-b-but..." His words wouldn’t come out, due to the level of misunderstanding.

"I’m guessing you two finally made up?" Baek-Hyun asked, and Kang-woo looked towards Chin-hwa, whose head was still spinning from the word ’date’.

Well, he could say that.

He smiled and said,

"Yes, we’re on good terms now."

His words were very relieving. But this made Hae-won realize that they had taken a step forward. Holding hands was not normal, so...

"Then, are you two dating now?" Hae-won asked wiggling Chin-hwa for answers. "Who confessed to who?"

Chin-hwa felt his head was going to blow. Dating? He and Kang-woo? What gave them that idea?

And his mother’s enthusiasm for gossip was as lively as ever. She wouldn’t even spare her beloved son to skip out on these details.

"Please, don’t misunderstand." Kang-woo spoke up. "We aren’t dating and... There has been no confession."

Chin-hwa’s mind suddenly cleared up. Ah, yes, those were the words he wanted to say. He was glad Kang-woo was able to clear the air.

But... When he mentioned ’confession’, his mind traveled far to the words Kang-woo said to him not long back.

"... It’s because you are Chin-hwa and I can not live without you."

Those words could pass on as a confession, right? It might’ve not been a confession of love, but they were words that were able to bring forth life and meaning.

Just thinking about it made him flush and Hae-won misunderstood his flush to mean something else.

’Oh my, do they plan to date secretly?’ he wondered, his eyes gleaming in interest. ’I really want to know what my little one is up to, but... I’ll be patient. He’ll let me know when it’s time.’

He clapped his hands and said,

"Alright, I think we’ve spent just about enough time here." He said and hooked his arms in Baek-Hyun’s. "Let’s leave the young ones to enjoy their time together. Come, let’s go do our own thing." He winked at Chin-hwa as he began to lead Baek-Hyun away. "We’ll see you both at dinner."

"Yes,"
