Chapter 41 -41: Promotion, Hunting Plan
The silver plant swayed merrily and lively to Lucien’s singing, resembling a green dancer under the moonlight, waiting for her desired encounter.
“The final step,” Lucien slowly withdrew his spiritual power from the plant, and at the same time, he took a Venus clam from the tank beside him.
After forcibly opening the large clamshell, Lucien saw inside a miniature nude Venus.
Her mouth opened, emitting sound waves indiscernible to human ears, interspersed with enchantment.
In a daze, Lucien seemed to see the ocean and, on the rocks, that figure which made his blood race and longed for day and night.
“Hmph.” But the illusion lasted only for a moment. Then Lucien’s spiritual power forcefully tore it apart, his consciousness returned, and the scene changed back to the familiar laboratory.
“Although it possesses certain enchantment-type magic, its physical strength is too weak; it’s still useless,” Lucien looked at the Venus clam with a pitiful expression, sneered, and then placed it slowly roasting on the alcohol lamp.
“Ah…” the Venus clam showed a horrified expression as the flame licked it, and soon, she covered her own eyes, tears falling.
Lucien’s quick reflexes caught the Venus clam’s tears with fresh leaves, and then he threw the slightly scalded Venus clam back into the tank.
Drip—
Lucien watered the roots of the silver plant with the Venus clam’s tears, and quickly, the plant that had just been dancing merrily seemed to have suffered the setback of a lost love, its dance becoming somber compared to its earlier vivacity. However, as it continued to dance, a small blue flower slowly bloomed at its apex.
As the flower bloomed, a large drop of translucent nectar began to slowly drift upwards along with the stamen.
Normally, water droplets would slide downwards along an object. But this unusual drop, seemingly refracting moonlight, continued to flow upwards, as though its destiny did not belong to the earth but to the sky, to the drifting clouds and the silver moon above.
Lucien held his breath, and as the drop of nectar was about to drift away from the plant, he caught it with a test tube.
But the silver plant quickly withered after the nectar had drifted away, along with the Moonlight Moss it had rooted in, both becoming useless waste material.

“This is Praise of Moonlight,” a spark of admiration in Lucien’s eyes, he looked at the test tube containing the floating beautiful lunar light, and after watching it for a while, Lucien no longer hesitated, flipped the test tube, and swallowed the precious potion.
Unlike Recovery Potion, Praise of Moonlight was sweet, with an exceptionally good taste.
With Praise of Moonlight entering his mouth, the effects began to take hold, and Lucien felt his entire being become somewhat light and airy, as if there was also an inexplicable tranquility and joy.
“Meditate,” he dared not hesitate, and quickly entered a state of meditation.
This time, as Lucien’s consciousness inspected his Spirit Sea, he found the spiritual power vortex at the center of the Spirit Sea had been tinged with a faint silver color.
As he gazed upon the silvery figure of Lucien, he seemed to hear a soothing waltz for a moment.
And with this unknown piece of music, the scene before his eyes suddenly changed, revealing a forest beneath the moonlight, and under the grand silver moon, an elegant lady stood on a large rock, dancing slowly…
In reality, Lucien’s expression transitioned from initial bewilderment to amazement, then from amazement to joy… And finally, Lucien’s face settled into calmness, but suddenly, tears streamed down his cheeks.
“What a heart-wrenching story,” Lucien opened his eyes after a long while, only to find his face already wet with tears.
It seemed that he hadn’t been meditating but rather, through the perspective of a male protagonist, had witnessed a lover’s journey from acquaintance to passionate love, then from passion to heartbreaking separation, and from heartbreak to peace before moving on to remembrance of a whole love story.
Perhaps influenced by the story’s male protagonist, Lucien felt a bit dazed for a moment.
“Right, spiritual power.” Once he had somewhat emerged from that tragic tale, Lucien quickly closed his eyes again to inspect the current state of his Spirit Sea.
In his Spirit Sea, the vortex of spiritual power remained faintly tinted with silver, its rotation speed nearly 50% faster than usual, only now without the music that could transport him to the Illusory Realm.
“103 spiritual runes.” Lucien opened his eyes and let out a soft breath. “This means that after taking Praise of Moonlight, I solidified 9 spiritual runes in one night.”
“It’s just a pity that after taking Praise of Moonlight, I must wait at least two weeks for the moonlight in the Spirit Sea to completely dissipate before I can take it again. Otherwise, there’s a significant risk of being deeply influenced by the Illusory Realm, having my cognition altered, or even becoming another person.” Lucien exhaled softly.
Then, Lucien looked down at his hands and clenched his fists slightly. “However, the spiritual power cultivated through the improved Meditation Method is of a purity one level higher than that of the original Greybone Meditation Method. Now, in terms of spiritual power alone, I am certainly no weaker than those Wizard Apprentices who have solidified 108 spiritual runes with the Greybone Meditation Method.”
“Which means, now my level of spiritual power has surpassed Nolian’s.” Thinking of Nolian, Lucien couldn’t help but squint his eyes.
If he could find an opportunity to eliminate that fellow Nolian before leaving the academy, that would be the best scenario.
After all, Nolian was like a ticking bomb, and for every extra day he lived, it was another day of risk for Lucien. If Nolian advanced to a Formal Wizard faster than Lucien anticipated, then Lucien would face even bigger troubles.
“However, it won’t be easy to deal with Nolian. Moreover, he knows I’m out to get him, so he’ll definitely be prepared.” Lucien took a deep breath, remembering the intelligence he had gathered from Hanks. “Even more so, judging by Nolian’s flagrant display of heading to Bone Mound, he might be well prepared, waiting there for me to show up.”
After some thought, Lucien understood Nolian’s tactics.
Truthfully, Nolian also wanted to eliminate him before his own advancement, as that would be the safest method for him. But since both were Third-level Wizard Apprentices, if one were to hide within the academy due to Greybone Academy’s rules, it would be very difficult to carry out a killing.
And if one were lucky enough to make a kill, severe punishment from the academy would follow.
Nolian’s behavior was, relying on being stronger, forcing Lucien to make a decision:
To either hurriedly rush to Bone Mound for an away game before the mission began or to obediently undertake a task with a very high mortality rate and then pray that he wouldn’t advance to a Formal Wizard during the three years of the mission!
