This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 1279: Divine Game: Graveyard of Bones 1
Lania Kaia Wither was not here. Dark Reef Quex was not here. Fury’s rider was absent. Even Tingo Autumn Deer did not show up.
When forced to choose between themselves and their worlds, these players chose their worlds. Compared to the future of Starsea, the fourth Bell mattered more.
Rita swept her gaze across the room, then shifted her focus back to the choices in her mind.
This game only allowed six magical items. Even the Graveyard of Bones "map" counted as one. If she wanted the map, she had to give something up.
She summoned Nivalis, stuffed the pocket watch map into her hands, and let her hold it instead. It wasn’t a combat item needed in emergencies. Letting a companion carry it was fine.
Nivalis also had two Gacha Machines hanging from her, filled with daily supplies and food.
Many players were doing the same thing. With strict limits on magical items, everyone was adjusting their loadouts.
At that moment, a scroll unfolded in the center of the room.
The 23,171st Divine Game: Graveyard of Bones
Game start countdown: 00:09:59
Game objectives:
Cherish the time buried in the Graveyard of Bones
Eliminate Quiet Mountain players. Final ranking will be based on contribution to kills
Game duration: 30 Starsea days
Special mechanics:
Time-based abilities are disabled in this zone
Upon death, players respawn at the Graveyard of Bones entrance
Each death drops one World Graveyard
Every 100 World Graveyard can be combined by Quiet Mountain into one Order Emblem
After 3 deaths, one magical item will drop. Divine relics drop first. Player Relics drop last
After 10 deaths, the player will be transferred to Quiet Mountain
Language restrictions are removed. All players may communicate freely
Friendly reminder: Quiet Mountain is strong, but Starsea is home
Almost every player focused on the special mechanics section.
Something felt deliberately vague.
The World Graveyard part was clear. One hundred pieces equaled one Order Emblem. If Quiet Mountain had been Starsea’s offensive round, then this Graveyard of Bones was Quiet Mountain’s counterattack.
But the "transfer to Quiet Mountain" part was unclear.
Everyone here was a world leader. Even if their worlds were damaged or destroyed, they still had their people.
In theory, no one would willingly abandon their race and allies to go to Quiet Mountain.
Yet that last line, Quiet Mountain is strong, but Starsea is home, sounded almost like persuasion. Like it was trying to keep them from leaving.
Would anyone really choose to die repeatedly and transfer over?
Unless... there was some benefit in Quiet Mountain that could tempt even world leaders.
Time passed quickly in silence.
When the countdown ended, the ground vanished beneath their feet. Everyone began to fall.
But unlike previous games, there was no darkness.
Before them stretched a massive clock, so vast it seemed endless.
To the left, far in the distance, was the tiny glow of Starsea.
To the right, the faint outline of Quiet Mountain.
At the moment Rita saw that silhouette, she locked eyes with another version of herself.
QM Rita.
But in the blink of an eye, the other Rita disappeared. Not just her. As players passed the Brilliant time hands, they began vanishing at random.
Soon, Rita’s vision went dark.
Her first move was immediate. She condensed her companion lightning into a golden longsword and secured it at her waist. Hidden, but ready.
It lacked the extra effects of world-class weapons, but its damage scaled directly with her intelligence. It was the weapon that suited her best.
Only after that did she examine her surroundings.
She stood by a window inside an ancient castle. Looking out, she could only see about a hundred meters. Beyond that, everything was swallowed by thick fog.
She was in a study. A desk, chairs, and bookshelves stood nearby.
Rita summoned Nivalis and had her perch on her shoulder, holding the pocket watch map.
She turned B80 into a small black cube earring and wore it on her right ear.
The Calico Cat’s Head rested on her collar. The lantern and ship wheel hovered quietly behind her. My Sigh sat in her pocket, ready at any time.
The time on the pocket watch read 10:17.
"Write Starsea Lynx Duke on the watch," Rita said.
Nivalis obediently wrote it down, then asked,
"When are you going to use your last Divine Game reward?"
Rita knew exactly what she meant.
The reward that revealed a god’s burial place. The one that could be activated by writing the god’s name.
Rita moved quietly through the room as she answered,
"No rush."
Her main goal in this game was to upgrade two divine relics to their maximum level. She still didn’t know how Tingo Autumn Deer or Nuclear Flash NightFury had done it, but this might be her last chance.
She had already found part of the answer in Divine Instruction.
If she could find Starsea Lynx Duke, she might be able to upgrade Wrathful Moon.
Unfortunately, she still didn’t know who created Cat’s Ideal.
She had asked the six vice captains privately. Every one of them gave the same answer.
"If I tell you the name, it won’t acknowledge you anymore."
Whoever it was, they were stubborn.
She had searched every corner of Cat’s Ideal with Nivalis and B80. Nothing. With everything else going on, she had to put it aside.
She even tried having Nivalis, B80, Y128, and 7777 play mahjong nonstop at Dustfire’s old table, hoping to encounter the creator.
No luck. Either bad timing, or the person never showed up.
Her second goal, after upgrading her relics, was to see if she could find a god tied to BS.
As BS Adjudicator, inheriting BS’s divine legacy would only make sense.
Rita pulled a random book from the shelf, looking for clues.
The text was unfamiliar. Crooked symbols, like claw marks.
She recognized it.
Autumn Deer script.
Before she could read further, she noticed the surroundings begin to fade.
A skill? Or had she stepped into someone’s Graveyard of Bones?
Autumn Deer... or the castle’s owner?
A gentle voice, warm and faintly amused, echoed through the room.
"It’s a Vineborne, I see."
