There Will Always Be Protagonists With Delusions of Starting a Harem-Chapter 90
On this beautiful and early morning, where he didn’t have to go to school or work, the deeply slumbering Ye Zhizhou was woken up by his phone ringing. He felt around sleepily, yet what he found was a slender and strong hand.
“Did the noise wake you?"
His face was kissed and then the phone stopped ringing. He struggled to wake up, but the sleepiness was too strong, the blanket was too soft, the sound of his lover's breath was too pleasant. He stirred a bit before falling asleep again.
Cen Yuebai propped his head up with his hand and looked at Ye Zhizhou, his eyes unconsciously filling with traces of amusement. When the muted cell phone lit up again, he glanced at it and saw the two words ‘Shen Zixia’ on the caller ID. He squinted, declined the call, and sent a text.
He's staying with me. Shen Zixia’s face stiffened after reading the text and then he strongly hit the couch pillow several times.
“Big brother, what's wrong?” Shen Mengxi came out carrying breakfast, curiously asking, “Was that Second brother calling? When is he coming back?”
“Not coming back.” Shen Zixia got up with a black expression and went to help her set the dishes on the table. “Zihao has something to do. He's going to live with Cen Yuebai for the time being.”
“Living with Second sister-in-law?” Shen Mengxi suddenly smiled. “Then, I have to prepare some things for Second brother…… I’ll go buy it now!” After saying this, she directly turned to run upstairs, not wanting to eat breakfast anymore.
Shen Zixia watched her go up and took a deep breath. His phone suddenly rang and he took a look at the caller ID. Seeing that it was Su Yu, he directly hung up with a dark expression! As he just took a sip of his coffee, his phone rang again. He was furious. When he picked up the phone, he shouted, “Are you a wimp or something?! If you want to chase, then you can chase. Stop playing around with these roundabout ways. I’m not as free as you!”
The person on the other side was quiet for a bit before Yin Feiyu’s unique voice came through. “Drink more chrysanthemum tea if you're suffering from excessive internal heat.”
Shen Zixia froze. He looked at the cell phone screen and confirmed that the caller was not Su Yu, but Yin Feiyu. He wiped his face sadly, put the phone to his ear again and asked, “What are you calling for?”
“I can’t get through to Cen Yuebai and Shen Zihao's phones.” Yin Feiyu glanced at Fan Lang laying on the hospital bed, his soul was rapidly darkening. He both sympathized and loathed him. “Have them come to the hospital. Fan Lang's soul is getting darker.”
Yin Feiyu hung up right after saying that, and Shen Zixia gloomily chugged down the rest of the bitter black coffee he was holding.
It was lunchtime when Ye Zhizhou and Cen Yuebai arrived at the hospital. Yin Feiyu was currently watching Fan Lang’s ward door and nibbling at a sandwich. When he saw them coming, he directly said, “Fan Lang had a normal day yesterday. He went to rehabilitation, ate his medicine, read a book and then took an afternoon nap. It looked like the invading soul in his body didn’t notice the array outside of the room. However, when I came to check the room later that night, the situation changed. His soul rapidly began to turn darker, and more than half of it has turned black. Go in and have a look.” After eating the last bite of his sandwich, he took out a wet wipe from his pocket and wiped his hands. He pushed the door open. “After my grandfather heard about this, he insisted that I must help you. Tch, you guys got lucky.”
“Thank you.” Having a third eye made things a lot easier. Cen Yuebai was very generous with his thanks.
Ye Zhizhou also thanked him and then rushed into the room to check on Fan Lang’s condition. He frowned. “He hasn't woken up at all today?”
“No.” Yin Feiyu opened the record chart, looked at it and calculated the time. “He's been sleeping for more than ten hours.”
“Once the soul merging has reached halfway, the invading soul can control Fan Lang’s body. It was probably not Fan Lang’s consciousness that behaved normally yesterday. The array outside the room has been discovered, and the invading soul is in a desperate situation." Cen Yuebai’s expression became heavy after checking the situation. He quickly took out several paper talismans and folded them. Then, he hung them around the sickbed according to the five elements and looked at Ye Zhizhou. “Do you have Zhang Lin and Cao Yu's number? Tell them to come here.”
Ye Zhizhou quickly took out his phone, as he called them, he asked, “Why do you want them to come?"
“Calling the soul. They were the last people with Fan Lang when the invading soul started to merge with his soul. The three grew up together and meet the conditions for calling back the soul.” Cen Yuebai explained briefly and then took out a stack of paper talismans to fold. “We have to be quick. After the soul merge is complete, we will no longer be able to separate Fan Lang and the invading soul.”
Zhang Lin and Cao Yu came very quickly, both of them wearing confused expressions. Ye Zhizhou briefly explained the situation and then pushed them towards the sickbed.
“What is soul merging? What are you guys up to?” Zhang Lin became impatient and reached out a hand to pull off the paper talisman hanging beside the sickbed. “And what’s this all for? What are you guys being so mysterious about?”
“Don’t touch.” Ye Zhizhou came forward to pull Zhang Lin's hand back and said in a deep voice, “If you want your brother to never come back, then continue to court disaster.”
Zhang Lin was still afraid of him. He withdrew his hand when he heard Ye Zhizhou's words and could only hold back his curses.
If they didn't cooperate sincerely, it would be useless to force them to help with calling the soul back. Ye Zhizhou thought about it and asked, “Tongtian, is there any way to open the third eye of these two people temporarily? Just to let them see the soul merging situation."
[Do you want to receive the task reward Tong Shen talisman ahead of time? ]
Tong Shen talisman? To feel something as if it happened to oneself? He quickly selected yes in his mind and the small mirror then spat out one black talisman and three gold ones. He took them out of his pocket and looked over their usage. Then, he went up and stuck the black talisman on Yin Feiyu and two gold talismans onto Zhang Lin and Cao Yu respectively. After hesitating for a bit, he stuck the last gold talisman on himself, explaining quickly, “This is the Tong Shen talisman, don’t tear it off. Zhang Lin and Cao Yu, look carefully at Fan Lang on the bed and tell us whether you want to save him or not!”
When Yin Feiyu heard his words, he withdrew the hand that was stretching toward the talisman and didn’t move at all. Cen Yuebai’s body stiffened, pausing in the middle of hanging up more talismans around the sickbed, and looked at the golden talisman stuck on Ye Zhizhou.
Zhang Lin and Cao Yu were baffled by the talisman stuck onto them, and turned their heads to question him but were startled by the sudden dark shadows in front of them. “W-what are these dark shadows?”
“Those are your souls. I temporarily copied Dr. Yin’s third eye onto you guys.” Ye Zhizhou explained the power of the third eye to them and then glanced at the bedside to look at Cen Yuebai. There was a translucent shadow on everyone’s body. Zhang Lin was chaotic gray, Cao Yu was dark brown, Yin Feiyu was a warm, bright yellow, and Cen Yuebai…
“Xiao Zhou.” Cen Yuebai quietly called his name, moved over and covered up his eyes. “Don’t look.”
“Why…” Ye Zhizhou’s complexion paled. He raised his hand to pull away Cen Yuebai’s hand, holding onto it, trembling. “Why…. don’t you have one??” It was a blank slate… there was nothing. How could it be possible… How could a human have no soul?
Yin Feiyu glanced at them and then silently walked forward. He explained the whole story to the still screaming in fear Zhang Lin and the shocked Cao Yu. In a few words, he calmed Zhang Lin down.
Cen Yuebai hugged him and kissed his brow. "It's ok… In fact, it's there. It's just that you can't see it.”
"But…"
“It’s transparent.” Cen Yuebai stroked his face and said with a smile, “How can a person not have a soul? It’s just that I’m special and was born with a transparent soul. One of my Master's good friends also has his third eye. He has checked it for me. There's no problem.”
“Really?” Ye Zhizhou’s eyes were full of hope. “Will it gradually become normal in the future? Does this harm you in any way?”
“There’s no harm. The color of my soul will probably become normal once the consequence of murder is cleared.” Cen Yuebai once again hugged him, and quietly removed the talisman on his body. “Don’t worry. As you can see, I’m fine.”
The shadows all disappeared. Ye Zhizhou tightened his grip on the hand hugging him and forced himself to relax. Was… was it really that he couldn't see it?
Yin Feiyu turned his head to look at them. His eyes just happened to meet Cen Yuebai's. After staring at him for a moment, he looked away indifferently. Transparent? How amazing he was, coming up with this kind of excuse.
He lifted his hand and tore off the talisman on his body and then helplessly pushed his glasses up. People in love, not only their IQ drop, even their eyes become blind.
After seeing the mysterious things with their own eyes, and listening to the detailed explanation, Zhang Lin and Cao Yu’s attitude became more cautious and serious. Although they had a big quarrel with Fan Lang, which almost tore them apart, they still grew up together and hold affection for each other. When they learned that their brother was in danger, of course, they would help him! They listened to Cen Yuebai’s instructions, cut their fingers and pressed them on a large red paper talisman. Then, they closed their eyes and started to recall the days when they went out to play with Fan Lang.
Yin Feiyu and Ye Zhizhou withdrew to the corner of the room, trying their best not to disturb them.
Nothing world-shaking happened. After the talisman hanging beside the sickbed shook a few times, Yin Feiyu, who was closely observing the situation, opened the record chart and began to scribble in it. “The black color has retreated a bit. He’s safe for now.”
Cen Yuebai burned the paper talisman in his hand and then nodded at Zhang Lin and Cao Yu.
Zhang Lin directly collapsed on the floor, his face full of fear. “Just now, I was a bit flustered. Some memories that didn’t belong to me appeared in my mind. What’s going on?”
“It’s the invading soul’s memory.” Cen Yuebai calmly explained as he began cleaning up the paper talismans around the sickbed. “Calling the soul back needs to be repeated many times, you guys need to mentally prepare. Don’t run around these days, and take care to not get infected by unclean things.”
Ye Zhizhou’s focus was on Zhang Lin’s previous sentence, so he walked up to ask, “What did you see in those invasive memories?”
“I saw two little boys playing together.” Zhang Lin got up with a somewhat embarrassed look. “I also saw what they did when they grew up… ugh…” Recently, his straight heart has suffered a lot.
“Fire.” Cao Yu suddenly opened his mouth with a pale face and looked at Ye Zhizhou with terrified eyes. He unconsciously trembled. “There was a huge fire, the house… There were still people in the house… Someone was standing outside the house laughing."
Ye Zhizhou was startled. He thought back to the information he had previously found and asked seriously, “You said that someone was standing outside the house, laughing?”
“Yes, I heard someone calling him Xiao Tao…”
Xiao Tao? The name of the invading soul was Luo Tao and the big fire… He couldn’t help clenching his fist as cold sweat appeared on his back. The big boss's name was Yuan Chang. He lived a miserable life when he was a child. His mother died early. His father was fond of gambling and domestic violence. His grandmother’s temper was very bad because of her illness… In his second year of high school, his father and grandmother accidentally knocked over the oil pot and set the house on fire while arguing, resulting in them being burned alive at home…Yuan Chang’s grandmother once bought insurance for herself and her son. After their deaths, Yuan Chang received a large amount of insurance money. It was by using this money that he and Luo Tao, whose parents died early, completed their college education.
“What’s the matter?” Cen Yuebai walked forward and hugged him.
“Yuebai.” Ye Zhizhou collected his thoughts, turning his head to look back at him and said, “I think we need to go find Yuan Chang.” Originally, he was first going to separate the invading soul and stabilize Fan Lang before dealing with the big boss, but now… Whoever hung the bell on the tiger's neck must untie it, Yuan Chang is probably not innocent. This old grudge, it's better if he lets those involved settle it themselves.
Yuan Chang and his wife moved to another city a few years ago. Cen Yuebai had to watch Fan Lang in the hospital and keep an eye on the progress of the soul merging. Ye Zhizhou could only go alone to find Yuan Chang.
“Have Shen Zixia accompany you.” Cen Yuebai felt a little uneasy.
“No need.” He shook his head and stuffed the things he needed to bring into his space. “I don’t want to let big brother get involved in these things again.” In the original plot, Shen Zixia and Su Yu wasted their whole lives staying beside the protagonist. They didn’t live a good life. Now that the two have returned to a normal life, it's better to not involve them with Fan Lang again.
Cen Yuebai took off the on his wrist, pulled over Ye Zhizhou's hand and put it on him. He hugged him. “Come back early.”
He touched the warm Buddha beads on his wrist, hugged Cen Yuebai back, and nodded softly. “Yes.”
A day later, Ye Zhizhou set foot into an unknown city, alone.
At eight o’clock that night, he went to Yuan Chang’s house and rang the doorbell. The door was opened by a smiling woman with a bright appearance. She was about 30 years old. She was stunned when she saw Ye Zhizhou outside the door. She asked in doubt, “Excuse me, sir…”
“Xia Xiang.” Ye Zhizhou interrupted her words and took out a picture from his pocket, shaking it in front of her. “If you don’t want your son and daughter to die, tell Yuan Chang to come out and both of you accompany me somewhere.”
The picture showed Luo Tao’s burial place. Xia Xiang’s complexion changed greatly after seeing this. She turned to close the door.
“It seems like you’re going to watch both your son and daughter die.” Ye Zhizhou wasn’t surprised by her reaction. He put the photo back into his pocket and said indifferently, “Or, maybe you’d rather have the police invite you out?”
Xia Xiang halted her action of closing the door, looking at him with fear. She lowered her voice and snapped. “However much you want, I’ll give it to you! Just don’t disturb my life.”
As expected, the style of a rich lady. He hummed and laughed, taking out his cell phone to dial Yuan Chang’s phone number. He saw her eyes gradually widen. “Luo Tao is already dead. His body is buried in the woods outside B city. Do you want to know who killed him? Come to the door.”
“You…” Xia Xiang’s face turned pale, and her body trembled with rage. “How do you have my husband’s phone number?” As she said this, she seemed to have thought of something and forcefully slammed the door.
Ye Zhizhou raised his hand to look at his watch. 36 seconds later, the door opened and the tall, smart-looking Yuan Chang with a twisted expression rushed out. His eyes quickly locked onto him. He went up and asked, “Was it you who called? You’re lying to me, aren’t you! Xiao Tao has gone abroad… Why don’t you talk! Tell me, how could Xiao Tao be dead!”
“Yuan Chang!” Xia Xiang rushed out to pull him and began to drag him back into the house. “This man is a madman! How can you believe his crazy words? After all these years of marriage, you still can’t forget Luo Tao and live peacefully! What are you taking me, Xia Xiang, as!"
“The fire and Luo Tao’s death.” Ye Zhizhou looked at them with cold eyes. He noticed the small figure behind the door from the corner of his eye. He quickly relaxed his expression and said in a low voice, “Neither of you is clean, but the children are innocent. So, are you going to obediently follow me, or am I going to say your crimes directly in front of your children?”
Xia Xiang’s sharp voice abruptly stopped, and Yuan Chang’s gaze turned sharply to look at him.
“Dad, mom… Don’t fight, sister is crying… ” A little boy ran up from behind the door, grabbing their pant legs, and gently pulled. “Sister is crying, she's hungry…”
Xia Xiang’s lips trembled a few times. Suddenly, she covered her face and crouched down to hold the boy. She began to cry, “Don’t say it… Please don’t say it, the children are innocent… I beg you… I’ll go with you. Please don’t say it… ”
Yuan Chang’s Adam’s apple moved and he clenched his fist. "After we settle the children down… I’ll go with you.”
[The probability of Yuan Wei, Yuan Yao and the protagonist falling in love has dropped to 50%, may the host persist in his efforts.]
Ye Zhizhou glanced at the system prompt, his gaze fell on the child in Xia Xiang's arms and a trace of anxiousness flashed in his eyes. With such a pair of parents, what should these two children do in the future?
