Chapter 595: Family law.

Mantis was not even playing around, she went ahead to put a hand over Alix’s mouth, preventing her from jumping into the conversation.

"Your mother is doing this for your own good. If she doesn’t assert dominance right now, they will think you are as soft as a ripe persimmon and easy to bully in future. If it is not nipped in the bud, it will only grow in future. You are a kind person by nature, that’s why they are taking advantage of you. If you cannot slap them then sit back and. Allow your mother vent for you."

Alix nodded, gesturing that she understood and then Mantis took her hand away.

The words call off the wedding had sent shock waves through everyone, not just Alix. A good number of the women were frozen, especially the workers in the spa. They had seen their fair share of family drama among the rich and wealthy but this had an extra layer of sweetness.

If the wedding was really called off, they would have stories to tell to their friends and family after work.

"Call off the wedding, oh my God!" someone whispered.

Some of the woman looked at Alix, wondering what was going through her mind or what she planned to do next. How could the wedding be called off when it was only hours away?

"No, no, it cannot happen, we are not calling off anything. Lexian apologize to your sister-in-law right now." Grandma Zhang ordered loudly.

"On her knees." Auntie Mo emphasized.

Lexian’s mother clenched her hands and stepped in front of her daughter.

"Old madam, you are not going to allow this to happen, right?"

The second elder’s wife stepped in. "Why not? We have been warning Lei and Lexian to leave Alix alone and mind their own business but they have been provoking her continually. She is such a sweet, calm and loving person but you want to make her out to be selfish, arrogant, uncultured and unworthy of Caishen. Lexian aren’t those the very words you used to describe her three days ago in the gardens when you were talking to Lei?"

"Unworthy!!!" Grandma Tai exclaimed.

She laughed dryly and marched forward with a storm of rage on her face.

"Qilu, Aihuan, put her on her knees." she ordered.

Lexian’s mother was pushed out of the way and the two women forced Lexian down onto her knees. She was unwilling to go down and she struggled but auntie Mo’s strength was not to be looked down on.

Silence covered the spa, nobody thought they would be in this situation right now. Those that had long been waiting for Lexian to be taught a lesson smiled. She had really been extremely arrogant and rude to everyone ever since she won that family competition.

Her mother had been walking around as if she had wings and had been elevated to the position of an elder in the family. There was not much pity for her among the women present.

In fact, those that had daughters that had not come were planning to warn them not to be too arrogant, especially not to the Tai’s. Their hands really walked faster than their lips.

Lexian was made to face Alix, and tears formed in her eyes.

"Apologize." grandma Tai ordered.

"I am going to tell my dad." Lexian cried out.

Grandma Tai raised her hand to slap Lexian, however grandma Zhang moved even faster and her slap fell first on the same cheek auntie Mo had slapped earlier.

"Apologize." she ordered calmly.

Lexian looked at her mother and then turned her head and glared at Alix, still expressing unwillingness.

Auntie Mo scoffed. "This little hoof, i haven’t taught you enough. Alix, where is Majesty?"

"Huh!" Alix exclaimed.

Since when did Majesty start settling family disputes?

"Oh good Lord!" Mantis groaned.

Not even the Zhang An/Alix package could cover this, they would need the hypnotist if the damn cat beheaded someone.

"Sister, how hard is it to say the words i am sorry?" someone asked.

Everyone nodded and some whispered, talking about Lexian. Indeed, she was in wrong, and three words was all it would take to end the matter.

Grandma Zhang grew impatient, she could not handle the disrespect anymore, especially when it was aimed at her.

"Zhang Lexian, for the crime of disobeying the words of the family matriarch, i am going to punish you using the family law. Starting from tomorrow, you will move to Xihu and guard the ancestral tombs at the temple for five months..no, a year. In addition to that, you will return half of the money you were given at the family gathering and all the shares you received on that day are going to be taken away.

From now on, nobody in the family is allowed to help in your restaurant business, physically or financially until you display proper behavior. This includes Alix, she will not be supplying you with anything."

Zhang Lexian lost her strength and she crumbled while her mother fell onto her knees and started pleading for her daughter.

"Elder, what about her engagement? If she is banned to Xihu for a year, what about her engagement which is in six months."

"It can be pushed or given to another girl in the family."

Mantis gasped and she pinched Alix.

"Wow, in which year are we living?" she whispered. "Have we been transported to a period drama?"

To her eyes and ears, this was the scene where a concubine or princess that had committed a crime was banished away for sometime as a punishment. They would always follow it up with wailing and pleading just as Zhang Lexian was doing. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Alix turned her head and whispered back. "Aren’t you Zhang Bo’s rumored wife to be? You should be learning the family law."

Mantis rolled her eyes. "As if i can marry that man." she muttered.

She was so obvious to the red tinge on her cheeks as she was protesting.

"Sister-in-law, i am sorry." Lexian apologized desperately. "If you speak up for me, grandma will be merciful. The family law has not been used in so many years. Why is it being used now when all i did was say a few mean things about you? Why are you doing this to me? I know that you don’t like me but you do you have to go this far? Why do you have to bully me to this extent and push me to the point of ruining my own marriage?

Sister, as someone that is getting married tomorrow, how would you feel if somebody ruined your wedding?"

"Shut up." Grandma Tai shouted and slapped Lexian immediately.
