The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 568: Alix vs weather boy.....1
Chapter 568: Alix vs weather boy.....1
She leaned back in the chair, just like him. None of her emotions were given away from her facial expression or the reactions of her body so he could not read her.
"Which one do you think i am?" she asked him.
Instead of answering, he pushed the wine glass away and stretched his arms from side to side before rotating them in a circular manner. He was obviously preparing for a battle, or so he acted. Alix remained calm even in the face of all that.
Outside, the rain started coming down even more fiercely before, lightning and thunder raged as if a war was about to break out between two heavenly gods.
"Ho! you are already moving." She stretched her hands as well. If he was ready for the fight to begin, so was she.
He put his hands down and spread them on the back of the couch, still acting unbothered.
"I am in no rush, we are still talking after all. I have many questions for you, just as i am sure you do for me. Isn’t there anything you would like to know, like why i am here or why i have information on you?"
"I already know that Jack Cree sent you after me." she answered confidently.
Weather boy slapped his left thigh and laughed softly for a few seconds, apparently he was amused by her answer.
"I have to commend the bureau, there intelligence departments are quite good. Okay, you know who sent me, don’t you want to know why or is that an answer you have at the tip of your fingers as well?"
Alix nodded. "I was told that he was is quite interested in knowing exactly what happened between me and Heinrich family. I have been told that eighty percent of the footage from that day disappeared and the German bureau was uncooperative. I guess i am the only witness that has any sensible answers to give."
"Witness!" he exclaimed. "Since when are perpetrators witnesses?"
"Since when does the dark side care about perpetrators? I thought you guys just kill and keep moving as you wait for the promised world which your loony leader Genesis promised you."
Deliberately, she provoked him and smiled victoriously when he clenched his jaw. This was the first real emotion he was expressing since she arrived. She had struck a nerve by bringing up Genesis, making him angry.
Weather boy was a seasoned villain however, he recovered himself quickly and the anger vanished, replaced with his fake smile.
"I don’t belong to the dark side." he claimed.
"Mmmm." Alix raised her brows and scoffed. She followed it up with a wink. "And, i am not a system host."
He leaned forward and rested the elbows of his hands against his thighs, putting his hands together.
"Do you realize the implications of what you are claiming? If you repeat these words out in the world, you will not live long enough to drop out of the presidential race. You are implying that there is a possibility president Bishop is working with the dark side. Are you sure that you want to go down that path?"
Alix shrugged. "I am just calling a spade a spade, you are a famous dark side system host. Jack Cree who works for president Bishop sent you after me."
She spread her hands out, palms facing out before bringing them together. "If we put those two facts together, what is the conclusion? You tell me, what kind of conclusion would you draw after receiving this information?"
He smirked and twisted his head from side to side.
"Smart people die quicker because they don’t know what to say and what not to say. I am a free agent, i go to whoever pays me the most."
"Does that mean you are a member of Everyone?" she quizzed.
"What do you think?" he quizzed in turn. "You have asked enough questions, i should ask a few as well. What happened to the system hosts of the Heinrich family on that day? What did you do to them to make them lose their systems? Is it a weapon, an ability, what?"
She could not believe that he was asking her that, did he seriously believe that she would give him an answer? He had not to know that it was a futile mission.
"You didn’t answer any of my questions really so.....pass." Alix smiled a little smugly.
He looked at his hands for a moment, seeming to contemplate on something serious. After coming to a conclusion in his mind, he looked at her. She had been looking at him all this while so their eyes met. Alix could have sworn that she saw a storm in his eyes.
"Why don’t we strike a deal, you give me whatever it is and i will let you go." He smiled like he had just offered her a treasure on a silver platter.
"I have a better idea, why don’t you give me your life?" She countered.
"My life!" he was taken aback by her directness. "You are quite brazen."
Alix just doubled down. "In exchange for all the people that you have killed why don’t you surrender your life? Don’t worry, i have no plans to kill you, not unless i am pushed to the extremes. If you have dug deep into me then you should be aware that i cannot stomach taking the life of another human. What do you say, make this easy on me...on both of us and surrender willingly. Prison may not be ideal but you will be fed and alive."
"I cannot do that, i didn’t become this powerful by giving in to petty flies like you. Miss dragon, i have the power to move the earth, killing you in the sky or sea is not a problem for me."
He was a proud man that was sure of himself. So what if she had a dragon system, he would just rip her wings off and she would be nothing.
"I guess we are at an impasse then." she responded. Alix raised her hands and gestured at him to come at her. "Attack me if you want, give it your best shot, but don’t blame me for what happens later. I am going to be cruel, i am going to hurt you. You are going to bleed and some of your skin will be scalded.
You could lose a few body parts, like an arm or a leg if i cannot control my claws. If things get out of hand, you might lose your life. I hope you are ready."
A lightning bolt struck the place where she had been sitting before the last words clearly left her mouth.
