The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 544: Forced bonding.
Chapter 544: Forced bonding.
She scratched the side of her neck slowly and smiled uncertainly. What was this, had they called her over to set a trap for her after laying on some thick praise? She knew that Zhang Xian was already at the game, why didn’t they ask him to wait for his son and take him if they wanted the family to bond?
Why drag her into the middle of the chaos? Did they want Zhang An to kill her instead of Wang Yong?
"They want Zhang Xian and all of his children to be on good terms while sacrificing you as a pawn. If it works out, well and good and if it doesn’t they don’t lose anything anyway. Either they are really good schemers or they happen to have good vision." Came the sudden invited response from her system to her many thoughts and questions.
Grandma Zhang stood up and encouraged the two to stand as well. "Yong, Yi Sao, you should get up now and follow your older sister-in-law. Take care of each other and have fun at the game."
Alix was quite hesitant so she wanted to make up an excuse.
"Grandma, i ...."
The old woman was clever and she saw the hesitation in Alix’s body language. She did not intend to let her turn her down for any reason.
"Alix, dear, you are already running late so it’s best to get a move on while there is still time. We would come with you to the game but there are so many preparations to make ahead of the holiday. Moreover, all that noise and excitement will be a little too much for us."
She pulled Alix up with more strength than she appeared to have in her old body.
"I have already told the maids to put some drinks and snacks in the trunk of your car. They will be enough for everyone including your family, please send regards to our in-laws."
The elders escorted her to her car, saw to it that she entered and then she was sent off with Yi Sao and Zhang Yong following steadily in the car behind her.
"Damn it, they played me." Alix muttered.
"Like a fiddle." The system confirmed. "I am not sure if it’s playing or using however. If i were you, i would be on the phone right now giving everyone else a heads up. It’s best for them to process the news before you arrive."
Alix groaned, deeply, a sound that prompted Bi Cang to look back curiously.
"Young madam, is everything okay?"
"No Bi Cang, nothing is okay." she croaked out and moaned.
The first person she needed to call was not her husband but her sister-in-law Zhang An. Caishen and Bo had proven that they could tolerate Wang Yong but Zhang An was a different beast altogether. There would be no package activation at the game, they could not pay off hundreds of people just because they could not settle their matters in house.
"We have a face." her system suddenly notified her.
Alix’s finger had been dancing over Zhang An’s contact for a while, dreading the call. The image on her screen changed and instead a face was displayed. It was a common face, that of an actress commonly seen in movies and famously known as Chin Chin to her many adoring fans.
"What is this, isn’t that Chin Chin?" Alix turned the phone from side to side, twisting it at different angles to ensure that her eyes were seeing the right person.
"She is on the virtual screen host, you do not need to turn the phone upside down and shake it until it drops in order to make out a face. No matter how many times or how angles you look at it, that is Chin Chin or Kim Xin Xin as her birth certificate says."
"You have already seen her birth records!" Alix exclaimed.
That was incredibly fast considering that they had only identified her like half a minute ago. What was this new lightning like speed that the system didn’t have before?
"I am a level seven system now, your world’s internet is practically a toy in my hand. I can enter anywhere i want as i please and extract any information i need. Kin Xin Xin, twenty six years old, born...."
"I can read that if you give me the details, i don’t need to know when she was born. What i need to know is what kind of system she has."
"She is not registered with the bureau of systems, i don’t think they know about her." The system shared. "What she has is a disguise system. She can change her face and body to become anyone she wishes in the world."
Alix moaned and held her neck with both of her hands. That sounded like a dangerous system. and it definitely wasn’t a watcher type of system like it had been presented to her.
Suddenly she recalled the crazy rantings of the taxi driver that had given her a ride once and told her that celebrities were to blame for disasters in the world. He mentioned Chin Chin, and seeing her and a group of people on the Jade dragon snow mountain.
Could he have been right? Was she wrong in assuming that he was a lunatic? Were the people on that mountain members of the dark side?
She had so many questions that needed answers.
"Wait, does that mean she could possibly be Genesis?" Alix gasped as if she had made a big discovery. The logic was sound to her, who else could be Genesis other than the person that could literally turn into anybody in the world at will?
"No." The system immediately replied, putting a damper on her enthusiasm. "She doesn’t have a world development system so she cannot be Genesis. Even though her system is impressive, it’s too small to result in the creation of a brand new world. She does not even have access to other worlds and superior technology. The most she can do is keep shedding her skin like a snake to maintain her good looks plus deceive and trick people.
I am of the suggestion that we eat her next, or give her system to one of your brothers. She works for the dark side, the bureau does not know about her. She could be going in and out of that hidden city as she pleases doing who knows what. For the sake of your ambitions It’s too much of a risk for her to have that system."
She was fully on board with stripping Chin Chin of this system. She had already deemed it dangerous the moment her system identified it.
While she had been learning about Chin Chin, her mind had put aside all thought of the unwelcome visitor she had come with. It didn’t even cross her mind until the car came to a stop and the system with a sly smile informed her that they had arrived at the baseball field.
With that look of mischief on its face, she knew that it had deliberately chosen to share Chin Chin’s details at that precise moment to distract her. The damn thing wanted to watch the drama which was to follow.
"Fruit!" she whispered.
