The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 319: Old unfriendly friends.
Now that Wang Yue had officially changed his name to Zhang Xian, he was not legally married to Nana. From the information she received from Caishen, Nana was married to Wang Yue not Zhang Xian.
Of course, if the matter went to court, it could be seen differently. Apparently the legal issues to do with the matter were a bit more complicated.
Right now, as it stood, Nana was technically a mistress until Zhang Xian chose to wed her and give her legal status with his new identity.
Mo Qilu sighed and wondered what the Zhang elders were thinking. Zhang Xian as well, what was going through his mind? How could they live under one roof with a mistress? Did they blindly love their son so much that they were throwing away the traditions of their family. They were willing to ignore the discomfort of their grandchildren and risk gossip.
"Momo, Xixi, do you need any more drinks or something to eat?" Chairman Tai raised his voice and asked them.
The two women looked up at him and Caishen and then their empty glasses. Mo Qilu had been drinking wine while Alix sipped some pear juice.
"Nothing for me." Mo Qilu answered. She looked at Alix, "Do you want something pretty baby?"
Alix shook her head, gesturing that she didn’t want more to eat or drink. She had eaten the publicly approved amount and she planned to top it off from home.
"How about some desert?" He asked.
Alix’s eyes lit up brightly. Desert was a different thing, she definitely wanted desert. She was like a starving little kitten as her head turned and her eyes searched for the waiters and waitresses that were serving desert to the guests.
"It’s cake." She muttered and smiled.
Caishen’s lips curved upwards and he looked down, hiding his smile at his wife’s overly eager and obvious desire for cake. Maybe sister hulk should become sister foodie, he thought. Or perhaps it could be sweet Xixi because she couldn’t resist sweet things.
He was not alone in his amusement because Mo Qilu and Tai Heng were the same. Alix reminded them of a little child whenever she was around sweet things. She just couldn’t help herself and if you said no, she was not against begging and sulking. Elder Tai had even taught her to pout perfectly in order to get her way.
Caishen called one of the waiters over and he put down two plates of cake. Another followed and he did the same.
All four people received cake and three pushed their plates towards one at the same time. freewebnøvel.com
Alix gave them a conflicted look. On one hand, she could eat it all but on the other, she didn’t want to be greedy.
Good manners and politeness won over greed.
She smiled and said, "This is too much, I can’t eat it all."
"Eat, I know that you are not full." Mo Qilu told her.
Alix persisted too, shaking her head and even pushing the plates away. If she didn’t do that, Majesty would be the first to take a bite.
He was moving his furry butt a little too excitedly.
"Sister, I brought you cake." Tai Dalian casually sat down and announced proudly.
A new plate with four slices of cake was slid into the place of the three which had been pushed away.
Alix squeezed her eyes shut and smiled. This was truly the sign that everyone was aware of her bad habit and big appetite. It was a little embarrassing.
She opened her eyes and sent him an appreciative look.
"Thank you brother Dalian."
Different flavors of cake had been served and different deserts too it seemed because Caishen asked for something else.
"The blueberry cake is nice." Auntie Mo told her.
Alix decided to start with the blueberry cake too. She picked up the desert fork and stabbed carefully into it.
At that moment however, she was interrupted before her lips could even touch the cake and feast on the deliciousness she had just heard about.
Zhang Lexian touched her shoulder and Alix looked up. The woman had a friendly smile on her face and Alix returned it, equally pleased to see the enterprising young woman.
"Sister-in-law, hello."
"Mmm, Lexian, greetings. How have you been?" Alix answered.
"I have been well, sister." She replied and then greeted the others at the table too.
With all the greeting done, she stepped aside and revealed another woman that was standing behind, blocked off by her back.
"Sister, this is my business partner, Yu Xi, i brought her along with me so that she could meet you since the three of us will be doing business together."
Alix dropped the fork in her hands and the look on her face changed. The moment she set her eyes on the business partner Lexian introduced, even her aura changed.
Lexian was too chipper and expectant that she had not noticed the change but the people at the table had noticed. They also noticed the way blood drained from the face of Yu Xi. It was so painfully obvious that there was a past between the two women, an ugly one.
Mo Qilu squeezed Alix’s hand and she sort of glared at Yu Xi. She didn’t want to jump to conclusions quickly but she would stand on Alix’s side no matter what the situation was.
Failing to read the room, Lexian went on to say, "Sister, you attended the same high school with Yu Xi..."
"Lexian." Caishen called his cousin, cutting her off.
She blinked and smiled. "Yes brother."
It wasn’t Caishen that answered but Alix in a frigid voice. "Lexian, this business cannot be done, i am sorry."
Lexian was shocked and she looked at Alix, perplexed. They had been speaking on the phone regularly and come to terms and verbal agreements. For Alix to back out so suddenly like this was unethical.
She broke the silence first.
"Sister, i don’t know what you find dissatisfactory about my proposal but you can talk to me and we can work it out."
"’It’s not you," Alix told her. She tilted her head and looked at the woman standing partially behind Lexian’s back and obviously uncomfortable. "Yu Xi, did you not tell her about us? Don’t tell me that you were not aware the Alix she told you about is me. My name is pretty unique and i have gone my whole life without meeting another Alix. Did she not mention my name or....."
She smiled ruefully and raised her left hand, making her fingers dance. "Look at that, i guess i am not seven fingered Alix anymore. Maybe you didn’t realize that it was me because she left out the first two words on the name you gave me."
Yu Xi became even paler than she already was.
Alix looked at Lexian and she shook her head. "I am sorry Lexian, this business is not going to work as long as my old friend is a part of it."
She said old friend with a lot of sarcasm in her voice because they were not friends. They were the former bully and her victim, Yu Xi was the bully and she the victim.
