251: Strategizing like four wise women.

Alix and dozens of other gamers were transported to the same starting point.

They found themselves at the foot of a very large mountain on whose highest point stood a very tall tower.

A large gate, spanning for hundreds of miles entwined with plants, flowers, vines and thorns was the very first obstacle that they would have to clear out before getting onto tower grounds.

Even outside, one could feel the nastiness in the air coming from inside, beyond the gates.

You could also feel the magic in the air, or the energy anyway.

A place like this was sure to be protected by spells.

There was no way all that kept outsiders out was a tall black gate.

Once players took that in, they begun to disperse in their groups eager to get inside before the competition.

All members of the Badass guild hurdled together as well, and three of them looked at Scarlet.

She was the leader after all so she had to bring the plan.

Alix looked around like a thief and then four different scrolls appeared in her hand.

She handed three of them out to the others quickly.

“Okay, I found a way to combine fourteen parts of the map together so we have a more direct route compared to others.”

She couldn’t reveal the entire map lest the game developers become suspicious.

There was no way to explain a full map of the dark wizard’s castle, not even to her guild members.

The maps she handed out where detailed, with clear real time images which showed what was going on in the marked off areas and what dangers one could expect when they got there.

It was no wonder they were made to compete for the maps.

They were a cheat themselves, provided by the game.

“Woah, as expected of our guild leader.” Dark death praised her, quickly as usual.

She was the kiss ass of their group.

“I see a tunnel here beneath the poison ivy.” Hero pointed to one end of the map.

“It’s the least dangerous entrance onto the tower grounds.

If we can go through there and eliminate these bandits then our journey could be cut in half.”

Dark death did not agree.

The poison ivy was a plant with life, it had mutated and it had teeth and the vines were moving.

If they used that route, they would strangled and eaten.

“No, the poison ivy is mutated, look at them.”

“We kill them with fire.” Bichu suggested.

A high pitched scream came from somewhere within the distance and then the gate itself screeched threateningly like a live animal which had been harmed before slowly vanishing.

This meant a group had destroyed whatever magic was protecting the gate, eliminating the first barrier.

Now, everyone could step onto tower grounds and the real race could begin.

“Someone is already inside, dammit!” Hero cursed.

She clutched the map tightly in her hands and spread her wings, all but ready and eager to forge inside blindly.

Talking and strategizing was good but it was also a waste of precious time.

Alix tugged really hard on her wings and pulled her back to the ground just as her feet begun levitating.

“What are you doing?

I didn’t take you for one of those fools that is so eager to head in and get themselves killed without even seeing the face of the dark wizard.

Do you think that the gate was the only barrier here?”

Just as she finished asking the question, a loud bang was heard and another scream was heard.

Then, the sound of shattering glass was heard.

All of them looked warily at the space in front of them.

Between where they were standing and empty land ahead of them, something they couldn’t see had been standing tall, like an invisible wall.

“Now the second barrier is gone.” Alix said.

She looked at Hero and the other two and she said in a serious voice, “It doesn’t mean there is no third or fourth.

If you are killed by an NPC it will take you at least six minutes to re-spawn.

Six minutes in this final battle are just like sixty minutes.

We don’t need to rush in blindly like fools only to end up losing time.”

She pointed to the map again.

“Here, this field of dead souls.

We should go through it.”

Bichu drew in a sharp breath and the other two stared at Alix as if she had lost her mind.

This was the dark wizard they were going to attack.

His strength was dark magic, undead magic, things that went bang in the night.

The field of dead souls sounded like the perfect place for those things to thrive.

“That’s a crazy plan.” Hero told her.

Alix did not deny it.

She even nodded, confirming that it was a crazy plan.

But, she also explained why it was the best plan for them.

“It’s the only direct route to the top of that tower.

There is a portal in that field that the dark wizard uses to travel to and from his tower.

Why waste time and energy fighting all these other creatures when we can go straight to the final boss directly?”

Dark death raised her right hand and waved it around to get the attention of Alix and Hero.

“We don’t have any dark magic users in our guild.”

Alix looked at Hero, kind of blaming her for that issue.

The had rejected the one dark magic user who applied because she was a user of light magic.

Self-righteously, without any guilt whatsoever, Hero said.

“We don’t need them, they are creepy and untrustworthy.

The rules of the game are always changing, you all know this.

Dark magic users are the first to turn on others as long as it benefits them.”

“I don’t agree with your judgement.

It sounds like a bias to me but now is not the time to argue about light or dark magic.

What’s important is to find a solution.” Dark death told them.

“If we are going to go with this plan then I will cast a holy light spell and sanctify the souls.” Hero told them.

She banged her staff on the ground, reminding them all that she was a paladin.

Her light magic was stronger than that of everyone else in the guild.

Dark death pointed to a different section of the field of dead souls.

“What about the ghouls?”

Bichu unleashed her sword heroically.

It caused her black hair to stand up as if static had just gone through it.

“Decapitation, one slice.” The adorableness which Alix had seen earlier was gone.

Bichu looked like a cold blooded killer now.

Dark death pointed to another section and she said, “The bonehead serpents.

It’s dark magic so there is no shortage of things that slither.”

Alix stepped up this time and she said, “Dragon’s fire and I can activate some dark magic spells with my music.” She looked at the others and said with confidence, “Look, I have thought about this plan thoroughly and accounted for every obstacle that we might incur.

If you guys are on board, then I can use a teleportation scroll to send us directly to the field of dead souls.

So, are we together or is it the tunnel and poison ivy?”
