"Aunt Sen, aunt Sen, aunt Sen." Alix called the name over and over in a loud hurried voice as she darted into the kitchen at the back of the bistro, filled with excitement to see a woman that had been so kind to her in the past.

She located the elder woman sleeping on a mat on the floor in the corner of the small kitchen. Alix came to as stop as aunt Sen woke up.

She was surprised when she took in her condition. Aunt Sen had aged considerably, she looked older and thinner. Her appearance was rather dowdy, haggard and sickly. Compared to the former plump, jovial woman, the one in her presence was almost a stranger.

"Aunt Sen!" she cried out. "What happened?"

Slowly, the elder woman got up and forced herself to smile for Alix.

"Little Xi, you are back." she croaked out.

Alix nodded. 'Aunt Sen, what happened to you?" She approached her and squatted down. "Why do you look like this? Are you sick?"

Weakly, the elder woman shook her head. There was a feeble look in her eyes that was concealing a lot of pain. Alix did not think that she was the one that had prepared the breakfast she and Caishen had just had. Not in this condition.

"What's wrong? Tell me right now. Aunt Sen, it's me little Xi. You used to feed me when I was hungry even when I pretended not to be.

You have seen me at some of my worst moments in life and comforted me. You can lean on me now, even if it's just for a while. It's my turn to help."

Tears suddenly started to fall down from the eyes of the elder one. Sadness pored out of her liquor being emptied into an empty drum. Alix did not know what to do except give her a hug as the woman used to do for her.

It took around seven minutes for the elder to calm down and finally reveal her problem.

"My son," she said in a soft voice. "Something happened to him four months ago and he has been stuck in the hospital since then. He is in a coma and the doctors are talking about pulling the plug next week. They want me to sign papers....." She broke off and cried again.

Alix touched the elder woman's arm and patted it gently. Aunt Sen had only one child, and no one else. As far she knew, the woman was also a widow. No wonder she was looking like this, unkempt and tired. She must have been under tremendous stress during these months. If she lost her only child, she would

probably lose the will to live.

She thought of a way that she could help and inspiration struck her. She still had those healing crystals with her. She had broken large crystals into smaller ones that were dissolvable in water. Maybe it was a long short but anything was worth trying at this point.

That and the song of mother canary. If he listened to it, perhaps it could wake him up. She didn't want to give aunt Sen false hope but if this was her child, Alix would be willing to do anything. That's how it had been with her fingers, she had done everything possible.

She touched her bag and got a bottle half filled with those crystals. "Aunt, try this. I know it sounds crazy but this is a special medicine that is not accessible to just anyone. I am married to Zhang Caishen, of Zhang group of companies. That's how I got the pills. Look they healed my fingers."

Aunt Sen was familiar with Alix's crippled fingers and she was indeed surprised to see them moving and functioning.

She got her phone out and showed her where to download her songs from. "Also, this song, awakening of mother canary. It woke something...err, someone up that had been sleeping for so long. If you make him listen to it while feeding him water in which the pills have dissolved. It could help. " She took the elder woman's hands and patted the top one gently. "Aunt Sen, I am so sorry about the problems you have been faced with. You don't need to worry about meeting my husband, just hurry and start treating your son."

She helped the elder woman out of the kitchen and slowly they walked to where Caishen was.

He looked at the woman and then Alix, curiously.

"I am going to ask one of the bodyguards to send her to the hospital. I will explain when I return." She told him.

"I will follow you out." He answered.

Alix looked back at said, "The bill..."

Aunt Sen shook her head. "Little Xi, you know that I could never charge you. Besides, this medicine..." it crossed her mind that Alix mentioned having it because of her husband's connection.

So, she turned to Caishen and bowed her head politely. "Hello, I should have come out to greet you but I was held up in the back. You must be little Xi's husband."

She guessed who he was because he was the only man inside the restaurant and Alix had reserved the place to eat with her husband in privacy.

She noticed the wheelchair of course, it was not something that one could easily miss. One could also not miss his expensive charcoal black suit, shiny shoes, very expensive watch or his aura. She had not paid much attention to the news lately, and she rarely did even in the past. But, she could tell that this was an impressively wealthy man.

Aunt Sen looked at Alix and wondered how she had met him. Alix had been almost dirt broke and struggling when she last her a few years back. The universe had finally decided to be kind to the poor thing.

"I am Zhang Caishen, little Xi's husband indeed." He introduced himself to aunt Sen.

The use of little Xi earned him a soft glare from Alix which Caishen deliberately ignored. "I have already paid the bill and we don't do refunds. You must be in a hurry to get to the hospital, let's go."

If Alix was helping the elder woman then it had to be for good reasons. So, they sent her off with one of Caishen's bodyguard in one of the two cars which followed him around.

Then, he escorted Alix to her car because they had to go in separate directions.

For a few seconds, they staid there facing each other. One looking up from his wheelchair and one looking down as if she was from her first date. Her boots were digging nervously into the tarmac road and.

"I...." Caishen started to say.

"What time will you be coming home tonight?" She asked him at the exact moment when he had also started talking.

"Before eight. I must meet my father and then wrap up some work first. What about you?" He asked her.

She wanted to ask about his meeting with his father but she didn't. It was not her business until he shared it with her.

"Before you,

I think. After meeting your sister I must go to the police station and then I have to go and arrange my booth for the orchid show tomorrow."

He nodded and she continued to stare at him.

Both of them stared awkwardly at each other, unsure of what to say or ask next.
