The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories-Chapter 908 - 928: Will the Child Look More Like You or Me?
Just as she was about to head to the elevator, she suddenly felt something.
Her footsteps halted.
She turned around and walked toward the sofa by the window.
Sunlight lazily streamed through the translucent curtains, creating a hazy beam that fell on the girl sleeping on the sofa.
The girl’s cheeks were slightly flushed, her fair skin as white as snow. Her delicate lips were like tempting cherries, making it hard to resist the urge to take a bite.
Situ Yan looked at the person in front of him, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
He stepped lightly and slowly walked to the front of the sofa.
One hand propped against the luxurious leather sofa, he leaned forward slightly.
The light dimmed as a strong male presence enveloped her.
He wore a white shirt but didn’t button it, revealing his well-toned skin. The shirt’s hem brushed against the back of her hand, causing an itchy sensation.
Xia Xiaonuan stirred slightly.
Situ Yan froze, surprised that she woke up so quickly, his movements halted.
Xia Xiaonuan slowly opened her eyes, his face was less than five centimeters away, his lips nearly touching hers.
Breathlike warmth spread across her lips, the man’s pupils like dark pools holding an ambiguous softness.
She suddenly reached out and pushed him away.
"What are you doing?" she asked coldly, sitting up.
Situ Yan stood up with a smile, extending his hand to where she had just touched his chest.
It was as if her touch still lingered there.
"Why are you sleeping here? How long have you been asleep?" Situ Yan asked with a smile, his eyes, however, showed a complex expression.
Feigning sleepiness, Xia Xiaonuan rubbed her eyes: "I was asleep? Why are you here?"
Situ Yan’s pupils contracted; it seemed she really had fallen asleep.
"I came to check on you. You’ve been out for so long, I thought you ran away."
He sat on the sofa, casually draping his uninjured hand over the back of the sofa behind her.
Xia Xiaonuan moved to the side, keeping her distance from him.
"You’re injured, you should be resting," she said somewhat stiffly.
Situ Yan responded, "What’s wrong? Still angry about before?" Noticing her unusual expression, he looked at her and asked.
Xia Xiaonuan shook her head: "No... maybe I just had a nightmare."
Indeed, it was a nightmare. She had thought she had escaped from a nightmare, only to realize she was still trapped in it all along.
She extended her hand, placing it involuntarily on her lower abdomen.
"What did you dream about?"
"Nothing..." Xia Xiaonuan said, "Where’s my luggage? I want to call Qi Yue to let her know I’m safe."
"What’s the rush? We just got here. Don’t worry, I’ll have someone contact her," Situ Yan reached out, tilting her chin up to look at her face.
Xia Xiaonuan turned her face away.
A cold laugh escaped her lips.
She glared at him, "What? Are you planning to isolate me from the world? Qi Yue is my only good friend, can’t I even tell her I’m okay?"
Situ Yan didn’t expect her to actually be angry. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
His grip on her chin tightened.
"I never said you couldn’t call." He frowned, "It’s just that since I just got injured, it’s not a good time for you to contact them. Didn’t you say you wanted a peaceful life?"
Xia Xiaonuan looked at Situ Yan’s inscrutable eyes, suddenly feeling something inside her slowly sinking.
It seemed she had been too naive, too trusting of Situ Yan all along.
She had genuinely believed that when their six-month agreement ended, Situ Yan would let her go.
