The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 459 - 343: Measures
Jago panted heavily, knowing the urgency of the situation, and spoke rapidly, "I’m not very clear about the specifics, but suddenly lots of beastmen are vomiting and having diarrhea, their bodies are feverish with red rashes, which looks terrifying."
He quickly added as he thought of something, "I heard Lord Mason vomited until he was dazed, with large patches of rashes on his body and a fever. The leader called the witch doctor and priest over overnight."
Luna Sutton’s face changed dramatically; this situation sounded too much like an epidemic or a virus outbreak.
She came from the apocalypse and absolutely despised viruses, fully aware of their dangers.
Worse still, her brother was also infected.
Thinking of her father and brother living in the same room, eating meals together, her face turned even more grim.
"Then what about my father? Is he alright?"
She looked towards Jago, anxiously asking.
Jago knew his master was worried about the leader, and quickly said, "The leader is fine for now; the witch doctor is examining Lord Mason, saying it resembles the epidemic thirty years ago. Finn Arcanus and Yuri Ashwood have already taken the beastmen to inspect the tribe’s water source."
Upon hearing this, Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, Kian Sterling, Zeke Veridian, and Malachi Arcanus all had their faces changed dramatically.
Though they hadn’t experienced the epidemic thirty years ago, they had heard about it. That disaster almost swept across the Lower Domain of The Beast World Continent, causing countless beastmen and females to die.
Even some powerful beastmen and stray beasts weren’t spared.
Later, no one knew how that epidemic disappeared, but suddenly, after a few years, it was gone.
Yet, in the years when the epidemic broke out, many beastmen died.
Although Soren Phoenix and Mael Valerius hadn’t been in the Lower Domain before and didn’t know about the epidemic thirty years ago, they were very clear about how terrifying the epidemic is.
In history, Aetheria naturally had outbreaks of epidemics, and every time they occurred, they were extremely dreadful.
Luna Sutton’s face was extremely ugly; she felt her scalp tingle as a chill ran from her feet upwards.
She immediately called the system in her mind, "System, quickly scan and check if this is an epidemic, water pollution, or deliberate poisoning?"
Although the witch doctor said it looked like an epidemic, other possibilities weren’t excluded.
There were rumors circulating outside that she possessed a treasure, but beastmen who came to Sky-mist Canyon all died.
The system almost instantly replied, "Host, it’s not poisoning, nor a water source issue; the scan shows it’s an epidemic."
"It’s really an epidemic."
The last shred of hope in her heart extinguished, knowing too well what an epidemic outbreak implies given the primitive medical conditions of The Beast World. "How did it start, where is the source?"
The system replied swiftly, "The source is at The Winged Tiger Tribe and nearby. All those beastmen who pursued Caleb Manning for revenge were counter-killed by him, their bodies piled up like a mountain, not processed in time. Now with the weather not fully cold, the bodies decayed, combined with ravens, vultures scavenging and flying around... the virus had already spread through the air."
The system paused, then continued, "The Winged Tiger Tribe and nearby The Serpent Tribe, The Raging Lion Tribe, The Leopard Tribe, The Bear Tribe, The Rabbit Tribe, The Rat Tribe, The Swine-Dog Tribe... all are affected, sick, and dying. The Wolf Tribe seems better off since they are secluded in the depths of Sky-mist Canyon, with high terrain and large toxin barriers and forests as buffers, but constant contact with the outside world inevitably leads to infections."
Luna Sutton inhaled a sharp breath; again, Caleb Manning’s sins.
This madman, never resting for a moment, became a ghost of his former self because of that worthless Chloe Callahan, a good man with deep feelings turned neither human nor ghostly.
Probably he owed Chloe Callahan emotional debts in his past life, doomed to repay them in this life.
Although knowing Caleb Manning retaliated against those beastmen for self-defense, she couldn’t help but feel resentment.
Moreover, airborne transmission is ten thousand times more terrifying than poisoning, simply impossible to defend against.
She turned and ran back to the main house, then quickly upstairs with "thud thud thud" sounds.
Took the sleeping Kael, Kael Shadowend, Frey, and eight snake cubs in the children’s room, along with Barrett Arcanus and Fintan Arcanus on the other bed, into the space.
She took the beds along, too.
The cubs are still young, with weak resistance, most easily infected.
The space isolates everything from the outside, avoiding airborne transmission; it’s definitely safer inside, her last stronghold.
Just when entering herself, she needs to be cautious not to bring the virus inside.
A few beast husbands instantly followed, initially clueless, but seeing this scene quickly caught on.
Luna was worried about the cubs getting infected, wanting to protect them first, and everyone felt a sigh of relief.
Kian Sterling thought about Zora still in his room, his face slightly changed, quickly flashed downstairs, "Luna, Zora is still in my room."
Luna Sutton immediately followed him downstairs, went into Kian’s room, and sent Zora into the space as well.
There was a wooden house in the space, placing Zora on the bed with her older brothers to sleep, anyway still young thus not a problem.
Settled the cubs.
She forced herself to calm down, combining past-life knowledge with the conditions of The Beast World, quickly issued orders to several men:
"Corbin, quickly gather the symptomatic beastmen and isolate them far from water sources and residential areas. The dwelling can be temporarily constructed, and non-infected beastmen should stay home, minimize visiting."
"Rhys, take people overnight to cut mugwort, as much as possible, boil it in large pots, have everyone wash hands and face with mugwort water. Also soak all beast skin clothing in mugwort water before airing."
"Zeke, you’re responsible for checking the tribe’s water source, ensuring there’s no pollution. Also, organize manpower to boil water, everyone must drink boiled water."
"Malachi, notify all tribe’s beastmen to avoid hunting outside and contact with other tribes for now."
"Soren, lead people to sprinkle lime in the tribe to disinfect, especially public areas."
"Mael, later accompany me to check patient symptoms, I need to identify specific illnesses."
After she finished speaking in one go, her gaze swept over everyone, "Any questions?"
Corbin, Rhys, Zeke, Malachi, Soren, Mael looked at each other and replied in unison, "No."
Then they got busy and started taking action.
Kian Sterling noticed he wasn’t mentioned, his gaze quickly turned to Luna Sutton, couldn’t help but ask, "Luna, what am I responsible for?"
"You come with me."
Luna Sutton pulled him into the house, took out the pieces of plain linen woven during leisure, fetched a bone needle and fine linen thread, began sewing masks.
Beast skin was not breathable, while linen was the best choice.
Kian Sterling watched her cut linen into small pieces, puzzled, "What’s this for?"
Her fingers flew, swiftly sewing, "Masks. Beast skin is too stuffy and not breathable, but this can block droplet transmission."
She looked up at Kian Sterling, "Quickly ask about the situation at The Royal City."
Kian Sterling shook his head, "The situation happened too suddenly; I hadn’t had time to ask."
Luna Sutton handed him the finished mask, "The Royal City is densely populated, once an outbreak happens, consequences are unimaginable. You go personally, take this, follow my instructions on handling."
Kian Sterling took the mask, his fingertip lightly hooked in her palm, "Is Little Luna concerned about me?"
Her face turned slightly red; at that moment, it felt like the unspoken barriers between them vanished, playfully glaring at him, "Stop talking nonsense. Remember, wash hands with mugwort water after contacting patients, and boil clothes for disinfection."
Kian Sterling chuckled, suddenly leaned down and stole a kiss from her lips, "Your wish is my command, Little Luna."
"Hurry up and go, stop dawdling."
She pushed him in annoyance, urging, "If any situation arises, send me a message, don’t worry about Zora; I will take care of her."
Kian Sterling softly agreed, unwilling to leave but finally cast one last look at her before transforming into the Ten-Tailed Celestial Fox disappearing into the night.
Two shadows swiftly appeared following.
They were the two Hidden Guards from The Royal City who were always ready to receive orders.
...
Meanwhile, Luna Sutton, seeing Kian Sterling leave, kept her hands busy, continuing to make masks.
The linen at home wasn’t much; it was all brought by Kian Sterling from The Royal City last time.
Most were twisted into ropes for building houses in the tribe; some were used elsewhere.
Only a small portion left, after processing, was woven into linen cloth. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Though the quantity wasn’t much, fortunately, it was enough to make masks.
Actually, the best material for making masks is gauze, and the best disinfectant is alcohol.
Unfortunately, this is ancient The Beast World, where those things don’t exist at all.
Luna Sutton worked overnight, rushing to make a hundred linen masks, keeping some for her home use.
The rest were distributed by Mael Valerius.
