The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 456 - 340: They’re Back
Though Zeke wasn’t resisting, he couldn’t help but ask, "Do you... really want to have our child?"
Luna Sutton definitely didn’t want to have more children in her heart. Who would like to have children for no reason? Isn’t that just asking for trouble?
But she knew that it wouldn’t be right for Zeke not to have a child.
Even if she didn’t want to give birth in her heart, she still nodded without hesitation, "Of course I do! Look how adorable Kael and the others are. If we have a little wolf pup like you, he would definitely be very handsome."
Just as long as he doesn’t inherit Zeke’s sharp tongue.
Having one person in the house with a venomous tongue is enough. If there’s another, it’s sure to be a daily chaos.
Zeke’s ears turned red quietly, and he felt very happy inside, but said in a muffled voice, "But giving birth is really painful. Last time, you were in agony..."
He couldn’t bear for Luna to go through that kind of suffering again and felt very, very distressed for her. Yet he had to admit that he genuinely yearned for a child of his own.
Luna thought to herself, this man actually has a conscience, knowing that childbirth is painful, but she said aloud, "Painful as it is, it has to be done. I can’t just watch you without your own child, then going around scolding everyone, like a pair of lips stung by a poisonous bee, indiscriminately attacking others. You’ll tear up the roof of the house with that mouth of yours."
Zeke gave her an angry look, realizing he had been excessive lately.
However, with his character, he couldn’t bring himself to apologize and just decided to control his behavior and language better.
She noticed the redness at Zeke’s ears and the unnatural expression on his face, and she found it amusing internally.
But she didn’t continue to tease him, to avoid this proud man getting angry again.
She collected her thoughts and concentrated on using her Wood Element Ability to treat him, focusing on his kidneys, nurturing and addressing his infertility issues.
"Relax a bit."
She noticed Zeke’s gradually tense expression and spoke softly, already sweating on her forehead, "You’re too tense. This won’t help the treatment."
Hearing that being overly tense would affect the treatment, Zeke tried hard to relax and cooperate with her.
The treatment lasted nearly an hour.
By the end, Luna Sutton was exhausted, withdrawing her ability, "Let’s stop here for today."
Zeke saw her looking so tired and he felt a pang of heartache, yet he couldn’t help but ask, "How many more treatments like this are needed?"
"About... three or four times, I guess."
She rubbed her temples, her voice tinged with fatigue, "Give it a few days between sessions to let your body adjust."
Zeke’s expression was complicated as he glanced at her weary face, gently laying her down on the bed, removing her coat and shoes, and covering her with the animal skin blanket.
"Get some sleep."
He said softly, "I’ll go make you some nourishing soup."
Luna Sutton was indeed tired and fell asleep as soon as she touched the bed, quickly descending into dreamland.
In a haze, she felt someone gently caress her cheek, so tender it was surprising.
When she woke again, it was already dark.
Torches were lit inside the room, their flames flickering and leaping, casting shadows here and there.
Zeke was sitting by the bed, holding a bowl of steaming soup.
"Awake?"
He noticed her eyes opening and immediately handed the bowl over, "Rhys made this, with Lingzhi and Snow Ginseng."
Luna Sutton propped herself up, leaning against the headboard, taking the bowl and sipping from it.
The soup was richly flavored, sending warmth flowing from her stomach throughout her body, making her feel utterly comfortable.
Zeke watched her finish the soup, taking the empty bowl aside, his emerald green eyes looking especially gentle in the firelight.
"Feeling better?"
He asked softly.
She nodded, just about to speak.
Then they heard Malachi Arcanus’s loud voice echoing from downstairs, "Hey, Phoenix, you’re finally back. Is your old man dead, or have you become the Phoenix Clan Chief?"
Immediately after, Soren Phoenix’s distinctively charming voice floated up from the yard, "Of course, he’s dead. But could you not shout so loudly next time? Any Beastman who doesn’t know better would think I’m some shameless guy who killed his dad for power."
Hearing the commotion downstairs, Luna Sutton couldn’t help but smile, intending to get out of bed, "Soren and the others are back."
Zeke held her shoulder, frowning, "What’s the rush, put on your shoes first."
Only then did she realize she was barefoot. Just as she was about to look for her socks, Zeke had already found them somehow.
He knelt by the bedside, carefully putting a fur sock onto one of her feet, followed by slipping on the deerskin boots.
He didn’t forget to wrap a cloak around her at the end.
She looked at Zeke’s serene features, feeling a warm sensation inside.
She adjusted the cloak around her, then eagerly ran downstairs.
Just as she reached the staircase, she spotted Soren Phoenix in a fiery red feather robe striding into the hall, followed closely by Malachi Arcanus and Mael Valerius.
The little ones were already tired from playing, Kael and Kael Shadowend curled up together for a nap, Frey coiled at Corbin Crowley’s feet, eight small snakes tangled together on the rocking chair in the hall, snoozing away.
Soren Phoenix glanced up and saw her, his peach blossom eyes instantly curving into crescent moons, "Luna~ I missed you terribly~"
His voice was silky and lingering, winding and twisting, so much so that those present shivered, goosebumps scattered everywhere, and they wore faces full of dread.
Yet he paid no mind, instead his smile grew all the more wanton, flamboyant and unruly, as he spread his fiery red feather robe and exaggeratedly lunged forward.
Corbin Crowley’s ice crystal, Rhys Blackwood’s serpent tail, Kian Sterling’s fox tail, Zeke Veridian’s wind blade, Mael Valerius’s dragon claw simultaneously blocked Soren Phoenix’s path.
The tip of Soren’s nose halted just an inch from Zeke Veridian’s wind blade, his peach blossom eyes blinked, "Oh dear, everyone’s so enthusiastic?"
Luna Sutton let out a snicker, quickly descended the stairs and squeezed into the encirclement, her gaze landed on Soren Phoenix, "Is everything settled?"
Soren Phoenix winked at her, his fiery red feather robe shimmering with brilliance under the firelight, "Of course, when your male steps up, is there anything that can’t be handled?"
With a sleight of hand, he produced a jade box from his chest, "Here, a gift for you."
The lid lifted, revealing a Phoenix Hairpin carved from a Five-Colored Stone, gleaming brilliantly under the firelight.
Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, Kian Sterling, Zeke Veridian, and Malachi Arcanus all showed astonishment in their eyes, was there actually a stone that emitted such a five-colored radiance?
They immediately took note of the Phoenix Hairpin’s material, never having seen it before, merely finding it unique.
The Dragon Clan, prosperous beyond measure, naturally wouldn’t find the Five-Colored Stone particularly special, instead, deep down they considered it tacky.
Soren Phoenix pinned the hairpin into Luna Sutton’s hair, stepped back two paces to admire, "Indeed, it suits you."
Zeke Veridian scoffed coldly from the side, "Gaudy."
It wasn’t out of jealousy, he truly found it unattractive; the Five-Colored Stone was already flashy enough, and with the intricately carved phoenix pattern, it seemed even flashier, at a glance, it was painful to look at.
Having it on Luna’s head obviously overpowered her presence, it was unclear whether they were admiring her or the hairpin.
Unlike the twin lotus Purple Crystal Jadeite Hairpin gifted by the Mad Dragon last time, which was much more appealing.
Luxurious and grand without losing its charm, and the symbolism was excellent.
Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, and Kian Sterling felt similarly inside, it was too garish, it hurt the eyes.
Even Malachi Arcanus, who wasn’t skilled at appreciation, felt the hairpin wasn’t quite suitable.
Luna Sutton looked at the gaze of several men and realized the hairpin was indeed dazzling, but perhaps a bit too flamboyant, thus not quite matching her.
She touched the Phoenix Hairpin in her hair, smiled at Soren Phoenix, "Thank you, I really like it."
Though indeed a bit loud, it was the thought that counts.
Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, Kian Sterling, Zeke Veridian, Malachi Arcanus, and Mael Valerius found her statement rather peculiar. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
What taste, how is it attractive?
Could it be that after being with the showy Phoenix for a long time, even her preferences had changed, now favoring flashy, eye-blinding things?
Upon hearing Luna Sutton genuinely liked it, Soren Phoenix’s smile grew wider and more indulgent, "See, I told you you’d like it, specially carved with a Five-Colored Stone, perfectly suits you, absolutely bright enough."
Luna Sutton heard the "absolutely bright enough", her mouth twitched subtly, but merely smiled, saying nothing further.
Then she proceeded to inquire about the situation of The Phoenix Clan of Aetheria.
In the hall room.
Everyone sat around the Eight Immortals Table in the hall, dining on dinner while listening to Soren Phoenix animatedly recount the upheavals within The Phoenix Clan of Aetheria.
He finally concluded, "In short, now the Phoenix Clan has settled down."
Luna Sutton swallowed her food, her gaze turned towards Soren Phoenix, "So now you are the Phoenix Clan Chief?"
Soren Phoenix blinked his peach blossom eyes, "Naturally~"
He suddenly leaned in, lowered his voice and chuckled, "The Phoenix Roost Hall is all cleaned up for you, just waiting for you to bring our Phoenix Egg and move in."
Upon hearing this, she almost choked.
Her destination might not matter much, but she feared the other Beast Husbands wouldn’t agree.
If she moved to live within the Phoenix Clan, then what about Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, Kian Sterling, Zeke Veridian, and Malachi Arcanus?
She couldn’t very well have them move in too, right?
Possible it might be, but knowing these men, their inherent pride likely wouldn’t allow them to agree.
Within the Phoenix Clan, it would be Soren Phoenix’s territory, and they’d be restricted in various aspects, feeling even a tier lower, leading to extreme discomfort.
These people wouldn’t even want to visit Kian Sterling’s Beast King City, let alone The Phoenix Clan of Aetheria.
She cautiously glanced at the men’s expressions, noticing except for Mael Valerius who had a regular complexion.
The expressions of Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, Kian Sterling, and Zeke Veridian all appeared grim.
Even Malachi Arcanus was quietly eating, withholding speech, presenting an unhappy demeanor.
