Chapter 403: Chapter 309: Dragon Blood Ginseng (Part 2)

Kian Sterling quietly followed her out of the hut.

Outside the hut, the moonlight was like water, and the night breeze carried the fragrance of grass and trees.

"It’s quite cold at night, wear this."

Kian Sterling gently draped a cloak over her shoulders, speaking softly.

Luna Sutton didn’t refuse, tightening the cloak around herself as they walked toward the dense forest.

Mael Valerius had just found them there, and keenly noticed the scene, his expression slightly furrowed.

Where are the two of them going in the middle of the night?

He didn’t know why, but he quietly followed them.

Meanwhile, Luna Sutton and Kian Sterling quickly reached the dense forest, where the leaves of ancient trees rustled in the night wind.

Accompanied by the calls of birds and insects, the sounds were particularly clear in the silent night.

"What you said in the evening..."

Luna Sutton walked slowly, her belly large, her footsteps rustling through the fallen leaves, "You know, I can’t belong to just one person. Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, Zeke Veridian, Malachi Arcanus, Soren Phoenix are equally important to me. I can’t make a choice, nor do I want to."

"I know."

Kian Sterling smiled bitterly, suddenly hugging her from behind: "Luna, I regret it."

He brushed his nose against the top of her hair, his voice muffled in the night, "Just pretend I’m going crazy, okay?"

Mael Valerius, silently following behind them, hesitated for a moment, a strange emotion flashing in his dark golden eyes, as he secretly watched them from the shadows.

Meanwhile, he strained to listen.

Luna Sutton was unaware of Mael Valerius hidden in the darkness.

When she heard Kian Sterling’s words, she froze for a moment, turning around and raising her eyebrow at him: "But you clearly aren’t..."

"I’m so jealous I’m nearly dying, but I’m more afraid of putting you in a difficult position."

Kian Sterling chuckled softly, a shadow flickering in his eyes which he hid well.

Suddenly, he knelt down on one knee, his face in line with her slightly rounded belly, his eyes gentle as water: "Give me a litter of little foxes, and I’ll be the most considerate."

Once they all meet unexpected ends, Luna, you’ll naturally belong to me alone.

The darkness of his heart was known to no one.

Luna Sutton was equally unaware, laughing lightly, "I can’t control this pregnancy thing, it’s all a matter of chance whose child it ends up being."

"True, but if we’re closer, wouldn’t the odds be higher?"

Kian Sterling said, his long fingers gently caressing her belly.

In the moonlight, his fox-like eyes glittered with a gentle light, dispelling all shadows.

The warmth of his fingertips penetrated her thin animal skin clothing, causing Luna Sutton’s face to flush slightly.

"You sure know how to scheme."

She swatted his hand away, but couldn’t help laughing.

Feeling much more at ease.

As long as Kian Sterling doesn’t demand eternal exclusivity, she’s willing to give him a few litters of fox cubs.

Though pregnancy isn’t something he can decide.

The night wind tangled her stray hairs, and Kian Sterling reached over to tuck them behind her ear, his fingers brushing her cheek.

Hidden behind the tree, Mael Valerius looked gloomy, knowing he had no right to be jealous.

Yet seeing this scene and hearing those words made him extremely uncomfortable, a fire of anger rising from nowhere.

He squinted at the hand Kian Sterling used to touch Luna Sutton, danger swirling in his dark golden eyes, almost wanting to cut it off.

Of course, it was only a thought.

"Luna."

Kian Sterling suddenly stood up, embracing her, "After you give birth to this child and recover, will you spend more time with me?"

"Okay."

She leaned against him, a faint smile curving her lips, nodding lightly.

With the air cleared between them, both felt more relaxed, unlike the earlier tension.

Of course, Luna Sutton thought it was only one-sided.

The night wind swept past, carrying fallen leaves.

She suddenly noticed Kian Sterling’s gaze fixed in a particular direction, deep in some shadowy area.

"What’s wrong?"

She instantly looked over, but it was too dark to see clearly.

"Nothing."

Kian Sterling withdrew his gaze, his fingers brushing her waist, "A parrot just flew past."

He smelled that familiar dragon breath, hot and violent, like lava about to erupt.

Mael Valerius unexpectedly hadn’t left, sneaking into The Wolf Tribe to watch in secret. Is this unfinished business or an unyielding heart?

This stirred a murderous intent within him, but he was adept at concealing it, his face still adorned with a gentle smile.

"Let’s go back."

Kian Sterling suddenly lifted her up, "You’re with child, you shouldn’t catch a chill."

Luna Sutton instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, lightly glaring at him.

Provoking a light laugh from Kian Sterling, who held her tighter, his ten tails unfurling in the moonlight like a blooming snow lotus.

As he carried her back, he glanced casually in the direction of the ancient tree.

From the shadows behind the tree, a pair of dark golden eyes flickered and vanished.

...

Fog cloaked the hut before dawn.

Luna Sutton, half-asleep, hadn’t fully awakened when she heard sounds from the kitchen.

"Where did this come from?"

Zeke Veridian’s voice was cold and filled with surprise.

Luna Sutton frowned, rubbing her eyes as she went to the kitchen, where she saw Zeke Veridian holding a blood-red lingzhi.

The lingzhi was palm-sized, its surface shining with a blood-red gloss, marked with dragon patterns, its roots fresh with soil, as if just dug from the ground.

"Ten Thousand Year Old Dragon Blood Ginseng?"

Luna Sutton suddenly awoke.

Such a thing was almost extinct in The Lower Domain, supposedly only growing where dragon’s blood had fallen.

Could it be The Mad Dragon? But no one seemed to be nearby last night.

"Where did this come from?"

She couldn’t help but ask.

Zeke Veridian shook his head, "I don’t know either. I just saw it here when I came into the kitchen this morning."

Several Beast Husbands gathered around.

Malachi Arcanus reached out for it: "That’s a good item, perfect for brewing soup for Luna."

"Don’t touch."

Zeke Veridian slapped his hand away, his emerald eyes scanning the crowd, "Who picked this?"

Corbin Crowley squinted his silver eyes: "We were all sleeping last night, though Rhys Blackwood did step out briefly, and Kian Sterling and Luna went out for a bit."

Rhys Blackwood entered from the doorway, "Not me."

Soren Phoenix suddenly squeezed in from behind, staring at the Dragon Blood Ginseng: "Oh, this Dragon Blood Ginseng has a fine appearance, the roots intact as if carefully dug up."

His eyes narrowed like blossoming peach flowers, a guess forming in his mind, "Could it be from someone afraid to show themselves..."

"I picked it."

Kian Sterling suddenly spoke up, taking the Dragon Blood Ginseng under the surprised gazes of everyone.

If he guessed correctly, it was probably The Mad Dragon hiding in the shadows last night.

Luna Sutton felt something was off; Kian Sterling had been with her the entire time, when did he pick the Dragon Blood Ginseng without her knowing?

Later, when they returned to the hut, she quickly fell asleep, vaguely remembering Kian Sterling heading out again.

She didn’t pay much attention at the time, assuming he went to use the restroom.

Perhaps it was then that he picked it.
