The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 343 - 275: Kill Her
The sun sank in the west, and Caleb Manning quietly transformed into human form, standing in the shadow at the edge of the tribe.
He witnessed Chloe Callahan coquettishly accepting a Beast Bone Necklace from another Beastman, her fingertips seemingly unintentionally gliding across the other’s chest.
That action was too familiar to him; she had seduced him just like that, and had also seduced Nolan Sterling the same way...
"Seems my worries were for nothing."
He turned to leave but was quickly noticed by Pearl Vance who called out:
"Caleb Manning, you’re back?"
She ran over, her eyes full of joy, but slightly hesitated upon seeing Caleb’s frozen expression: "Caleb, what’s wrong?"
Caleb’s golden eyes swept over her, his voice low and deep: "How much do you know about Chloe?"
Pearl’s heart skipped a beat, yet her face remained calm: "Sister Aria has been very popular recently; everyone says she has a magical artifact to assist in breakthroughs, even Beastmen from The Bear Tribe come to pursue her."
She paused and casually added, "However... she seems not to want to mention you."
Caleb’s jaw tightened as he turned sharply toward the wooden hut.
The setting sun elongated his shadow.
He gently pushed open the door of the wooden hut, stepped inside, and quietly observed everything within.
This was the home he and Chloe had once lived in, every item inside made by their hands, full of memories and laughter, but now it looked different.
What was once a simple wooden hut was now adorned to be elegant and luxurious, with unknown animal skins hanging on the walls, each one fuzzy and seemingly very warm.
The corner of the room was piled with various pottery, filled with honey and preserved meat.
He glanced over and found there were meats from Saber-toothed Tigers and Mammoths. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
This was obviously not something Chloe Callahan could have procured; it seemed those Beastmen were truly investing heavily to court her.
Caleb felt a mix of emotions, anger and sorrow.
He once believed he and Chloe were truly in love, and had been willing to sacrifice everything, even his own life, for her.
Even when he was beaten back into a juvenile state, he accepted it willingly.
Later, he saw her seduce Nolan and roll around with him in the side hall.
Although Caleb was angry, heartbroken, and disappointed, he still held onto a thread of hope for her, not fully letting go.
Later, he saw her degraded to a slave to The Wolf Tribe, humiliated by several Beastmen.
Yet he couldn’t suppress his love for her and came to her rescue, even becoming Luna Sutton’s Guardian to save her life.
Looking back now, it all seemed laughable.
That night, Soren Phoenix said: he was just a resentful fool.
At the time, he was angry, now he intensely believes it.
Indeed, wasn’t he just a resentful fool!
Chloe Callahan never needed him to rescue her, with her cunning and skills, she would eventually escape The Wolf Tribe.
Suddenly, Caleb felt weary, unsure of what he was still holding on to.
Chloe had already changed, no longer the vulnerable female needing his protection.
Perhaps it was time to let go.
The sun gradually set, the sky darkened, the whole tribe began to rise with curling smoke, the air filled with the aroma of stewing meat.
Chloe returned to the wooden hut with a large pile of gifts, her face still blushing slightly.
When she saw the figure inside the hut, she was extremely surprised: "Caleb, you’re back?"
She set down the things in her hands, happily rushing forward.
Caleb did not open his arms with joy like before, instead watched coldly, his voice frighteningly calm: "Seems I’ve returned at the wrong time."
Chloe’s steps and smile instantly froze, a trace of annoyance flashed quickly in her eyes.
But she quickly returned to normal.
Her face once again adorned with a sweet smile as she approached to embrace Caleb, only to be repelled by his icy aura when near.
"Those Beastmen..."
Caleb’s voice was terrifyingly hoarse, "Do you know what they are plotting?"
Chloe’s gaze flickered, quickly adopting a pitiful expression: "They all say I have a magical artifact, but how could I..."
She suddenly grabbed Caleb’s arm, "Did you hear something? Is it Luna Sutton spreading rumors to harm me?"
Caleb lowered his gaze to the female he once deeply loved.
The slave mark on her left face was covered with flower powder, but could not conceal the calculation in her eyes.
"Chloe."
He suddenly raised his hand to touch her face, his thumb heavily wiped over that scar, "Do you know why I was able to restore human form, even advanced to the eighth level, and evolved into the Divine Beast, the White Tiger?"
Chloe was taken aback.
This she truly did not know, when they reunited, it was Caleb saving her to leave The Wolf Tribe, then hurriedly returning her to The Winged Tiger Tribe before leaving.
