Chapter 340: Chapter 273: Mining, Part 2

"Shut up."

Zeke Veridian’s fingertip curved a Wind Blade, accurately slicing through a stalk amidst the pile of rice before Malachi Arcanus, the warning in the action clear.

Malachi Arcanus pouted, muttering, "Pretentious."

He stopped talking and got down to work seriously.

Inside the shelter.

"Caelan Phoenix, Lian Phoenix."

Luna Sutton withdrew her gaze, lowered her voice, and spoke to the two Old Phoenixes, "Take Jago and ten clever Beastmen, and go quietly to the cliff to the north of the Winged Tiger Tribe. Remember, only extract the copper ore, and be quick."

Caelan Phoenix stroked his beard and nodded, "Rest assured, Mistress. In my youth, covert... ahem, covert actions were my specialty."

"Yes, act discreetly, and remember not to let the Winged Tiger Tribe discover you."

She deliberately lowered her voice, afraid that Caleb Manning would hear, as it was not a good decision to have him as a Guardian, making it inconvenient to talk or act.

There was a constant need to be wary.

It’s not that Caleb was not loyal, but he still harbored feelings for Chloe Callahan and the Winged Tiger Tribe, unable to wholeheartedly commit to her.

Her gaze shifted to outside the shelter, her eyes flickered slightly, and she coughed softly, deliberately calling, "Caleb."

The room was silent, with no response in the air, and Caleb’s silhouette did not appear.

Her expression darkened instantly, looking quite unpleasant.

Corbin Crowley’s silver eyes narrowed slightly, "Just before Rhys Blackwood entered, I noticed the shadow of a tree outside sway."

Though he didn’t say it directly, Luna Sutton instantly understood the hidden meaning in his words.

Luna Sutton’s eyes darkened, as she unconsciously rubbed her fingers together.

Corbin Crowley’s words were clear. Caleb likely heard about Caelan Phoenix and the others spreading rumors and was worried about Chloe Callahan’s safety, prompting him to rush back to the Winged Tiger Tribe.

"Ha, is this my Guardian?"

Her expression turned grim, her fingertips turning pale from her grip; indeed, Caleb could not be trusted.

Rhys Blackwood frowned, his voice icy, "I’ll go kill him."

What use is an untrustworthy Guardian?

With Chloe Callahan holding such animosity toward Luna, and Caleb’s heart fully set on that malicious female, who can guarantee he won’t harm Luna for her sake?

It’s safest to eliminate him.

As for Luna’s safety, with them around, there’s no need for Caleb’s protection; keeping him around would be an eyesore instead.

Luna Sutton took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and raised her hand to stop Rhys Blackwood’s actions.

"No need to pursue."

Her fingertips gently tapped on the table, her gaze sweeping over the busy Beastmen outside, "If he dares to betray us, I’ll let him know what it means to live a life worse than death."

Corbin Crowley’s silver eyes flashed slightly, and the ice crystals forming in his palm quietly dissipated.

Caelan Phoenix and Lian Phoenix exchanged a glance, a flash of concern in their old eyes, "Mistress, about the copper ore..."

"Proceed as planned."

Luna Sutton stood up, placing the red iron ore and malachite into the Beast Skin Bag, "Set off now, and remember to bring more vine baskets over, just in case they are needed. Also, keep a close eye on the Winged Tiger Tribe’s movements."

Caleb probably doesn’t know about the copper ore, as he most likely already left by then.

He probably overheard about Chloe Callahan being in danger and left in a rush without even informing her.

It’s a lie to say she’s not angry; this is already a betrayal.

The two Old Phoenixes took the order and soon left the camp with Jago and ten elite Beastmen quietly.

Luna Sutton walked out of the shelter, watching as Zeke Veridian and Malachi Arcanus worked while bickering, her lips curling up slightly, and her tense expression softened.

She looked up at the almost completed city wall, the stone structure shimmering with a faint light under the sun.

Kian Sterling stood atop the city wall, his ten white fox tails elegantly swaying behind him, holding blueprints as he discussed something with Lyle Sutton and the Priest.

Mael Valerius and Soren Phoenix were transporting stones at the base of the wall, one with daggers of dark gold eyes, the other with a Fiery Red Feather Robe fluttering, attracting quite a few females sneaking glances.

"Luna."

Corbin Crowley stood behind her at some point, the cold aura brushing past her ear, "Do you want to go see Aerock?"

Luna Sutton nodded slightly, "Let’s go now. All of us, and bring more Beastmen and vine basket tools over, to bring back as much red iron ore and malachite as possible."

Corbin Crowley nodded slightly and deftly went to gather the tribe’s elite Beastmen, totaling twenty, including Finn Arcanus and Yuri Ashwood.

Malachi Arcanus, carrying a stack of vine baskets and a backpack along with various mining tools, strode over, his wild and unrestrained face full of excitement, "Luna, I heard those rocks can be made into weapons? Could you make me a dagger?"

Zeke Veridian’s emerald eyes glanced at him, snarkily saying, "A brute with a dagger is a waste."

"You dead bamboo—"

Malachi Arcanus was about to explode.

Rhys Blackwood interrupted icily, "What’s the noise, let’s go."

Soren Phoenix unfolded his Fiery Red Feather Robe, spinning flamboyantly, "Luna~ I’m fast, should I carry you?"

Mael Valerius’s dark golden eyes turned cold instantly, his Dragon Tail flicking over with a "Thwack, "Get lost."

"Cousin, you’re so mean to me~"

Soren Phoenix deftly dodged the incoming tail, a hint of grievance appearing in the eyes filled with mock cherry blossoms.

Luna Sutton’s lips twitched, this flamboyant show-off was truly a handful.

She rubbed her temples, deliberately ignoring him.

Casually throwing the Beast Skin Bag to Kian Sterling, "Kian, you’re in charge of planning the mining route."

Kian Sterling gracefully caught the bag, his ten fox tails swaying in pleasure, "As you command, my Luna."

The group soon reached Aerock.

The sunset painted the exposed rock a blood red, and the red iron ore and discovered malachite locations weren’t far apart.

Luna Sutton examined closely and confirmed they were indeed red iron ore and malachite, and in considerable quantities.

Practically the entire two mountains were filled.

The system map also displayed golden light spots, the light extremely bright.

This indicated that the two mountains were indeed rare resources.

Confirmed these two mountains as red iron ore and copper ore.

Kian Sterling, holding the rudimentary map drawn by Luna Sutton, combined with the actual situation, quickly planned out the best mining route.

"Here, and here, there should be quite a bit of ore under the cliffs."

He pointed at several marked spots on the map, clearly distributing tasks, "Corbin, you take one team to mine red iron ore; Rhys, you lead the other team to extract malachite. Be careful not to venture into the heart of the mountain range, and make sure to be back before dark."

Malachi Arcanus, eager with his tools, "What about me?"

Kian Sterling’s fox tail swayed lightly, smiling, "You’re definitely going to the mines, this kind of physical labor suits you best."

Initially wanting Malachi to stay to protect Luna, considering Luna’s current estrus period, he silently dismissed the idea.

Instead, he decided to stay and protect Luna himself.

As for the others, they were all sent to mine, not allowed to return before dark.
