The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 316 - 260: Rice (Part 2)
The other two half-beast youths followed closely behind Shawn Sutton. They initially had no idea why Luna Sutton asked them over, but upon seeing the kiln nearby, they instantly understood part of the reason.
Both were delighted, as it was clear that the young lady intended to teach them pottery making.
They thought that with so much time passed, the chance to learn pottery must have been missed, but unexpectedly, now they still had the opportunity.
"Sister Cynthia, are you going to teach us pottery?"
One of the clever-looking half-beast youths behind Shawn Sutton excitedly stepped forward to ask.
Luna Sutton nodded with a smile, "Of course, I promised to teach you pottery before, but kept delaying it until now. I truly apologize."
Shawn Sutton quickly waved his hand, "Cousin, you don’t need to say that. We’re already very glad that you returned safely. There’s no rush about learning pottery."
The other two half-beast youths echoed his sentiment.
"True as that may be, since I initially promised you, I naturally cannot break my word."
Luna Sutton looked at the two half-beast youths, "What are your names? I feel like I’ve never asked."
The two half-beast youths looked at each other and then laughed.
Shawn Sutton smiled lightly, "Cousin, let me introduce them to you. His name is Stellan."
He pointed to the honest-faced half-beast youth.
Then he pointed to the clever-looking half-beast youth, "And this is Felix Forrest."
"Got it, I’ll remember."
She clapped her hands, "Now, I’ll teach you how to shape clay..."
In the time that followed, she patiently demonstrated how to shape clay for making ceramic bowls, pots, kettles, and more.
The three half-beast youths watched very attentively and learned quickly.
Especially Shawn Sutton, whose fingers were surprisingly nimble, quickly sculpting a well-formed clay body.
Evidently, he had practiced quite a bit.
Malachi Arcanus sat squatting nearby, watching Shawn Sutton’s skilled techniques, and couldn’t help but mutter, "This little rascal’s hands are pretty nimble..."
He stealthily shaped a skewed bowl and, when no one was looking, hid it behind his hand.
As the sun set, the first kiln of pottery was fired.
Luna Sutton carefully took the fired ceramic bowls out from the kiln; although they were somewhat skewed, they were still usable.
Not knowing which one of them shaped this.
Malachi Arcanus suddenly blushed, quickly hiding the skewed ceramic bowl behind him.
Luna Sutton sneaked a glance at him, smiling faintly, "What are you hiding there?"
Malachi Arcanus coughed awkwardly, showing an uneasy expression, "Oh, it’s nothing, just a casually shaped little trinket."
Unexpectedly, Mael Valerius quickly snatched it away, his dark golden eyes full of amusement, "Wow, this bowl is really unique; the edge looks like it was gnawed by a dog."
Malachi Arcanus suddenly turned pale, with Netherworld Dark Fire emerging from his palm, "Mad Dragon, give the bowl back."
"Give it back?"
Mael Valerius toyed with the skewed ceramic bowl, suddenly leaning close to Luna Sutton’s ear, "Luna, how about using this to feed you dinner tonight?"
Luna Sutton looked at the exceptionally ugly ceramic bowl, mouth twitching, "Are you sure this thing can hold soup?"
The three half-beast youths struggled to suppress their laughter, their faces flushed red.
Shawn Sutton suddenly pulled out a delicate ceramic pot from behind him, "Cousin, this is my first successful piece."
The ceramic pot was smooth and rounded, with simple vine patterns carved on its body.
"Wow, amazing."
Luna Sutton received it with delight, her fingertips caressing the patterns, "These designs..."
"I often saw you using vines, so I tried carving them on."
Shawn Sutton’s ears turned slightly red, speaking softly.
Malachi Arcanus looked at his ugly hidden bowl again, then at the beautiful ceramic pot, and suddenly snatched the pot from Shawn Sutton’s hands, "This little rascal has some skills. Let me borrow it for reference."
After saying this, he dashed off rapidly.
Everyone: "..."
Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, and Zeke Veridian returned, carrying large quantities of timber and stones.
Kian Sterling, Lyle Sutton, and the Priest finished their discussions, all agreeing that building city walls should be a priority. It’s acceptable to live in less-than-ideal conditions, but safety is paramount.
Once the city walls were built, it won’t be too late to construct houses gradually.
Regarding the size of the houses and the number of rooms, these will be determined based on the population.
Each household will have a brick house, regardless of the number of beast husbands; everyone will live in one brick house.
If a female has many beast husbands, then more rooms will be added.
As for single Beastmen and females in the tribe, they will all live in a communal barracks.
They can move out or build their own houses after pairing off.
"Luna."
Kian Sterling walked over, holding the scroll of architectural plans, his beautiful fox eyes filled with amusement, "The Priest mentioned that Sky-mist Canyon is humid; it’s recommended that the houses be built on higher ground, with stones elevating the foundations."
He then reiterated the leader’s and the Priest’s desire to first construct the city walls.
Luna Sutton had no objections after listening, understanding that with the city walls, the safety of everyone would be greatly enhanced.
She nodded slightly, "Makes sense. However, the specifics of construction will depend on the architectural plans."
She took out the fired pottery from the kiln, placing them into the pre-woven vine baskets.
She sent one set to Lyle Sutton’s place, another to the Priest and witch doctors. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
She retained one set for herself, asking Rhys Blackwood to take it to the lake for washing; they could use it at night.
As for the rest of the tribe, they would have to wait for the pottery to be crafted slowly over time.
Suddenly remembering something, "Oh, the rice needs harvesting."
Under the setting sun, golden rice filled the open space.
Luna Sutton led everyone in shelling rice with wooden mallets, with white rice falling like pearls.
"Is this rice?"
Malachi Arcanus picked up a grain of raw rice, about to toss it into his mouth.
"Don’t eat it raw."
She hurriedly stopped him, scooping up a bowl of clear water to rinse the rice, "It must be cooked before eating."
Corbin Crowley’s silver eyes flickered slightly, "Should we stew a pot of meat?"
"Of course, and maybe stir-fry a few dishes. It’s best eaten with rice."
She smiled, setting up a clay pot, adding the rinsed rice with a suitable amount of water to start boiling.
The campfire crackled, as the fragrance of the rice gradually spread.
Maya Miller came over, attracted by the aroma, seeing Luna Sutton again using a clay pot, and even cooking white rice with it.
Thinking of herself having to gnaw on hard roasted meat, she bit her teeth with jealousy, her expression filled with anger.
Suddenly, her gaze landed on the boiling clay pot, with a trace of malice flashing in her eyes.
Yet afterward, remembering her sister Mia’s outcome, she couldn’t help but shiver.
In an instant, all malicious thoughts vanished, and she hurriedly walked away.
