(From Demetrius’s Perspective)

It was, of course, a lie that Blue had devices around our room that could record who came and went out of our room. I had never heard of such devices. Blue said something like that existed in her world.

Although we had many barriers, it was not possible to make something like that. At least, no one had made it yet.

Evelyn’s face darkened. It was the same look Father used to give when he was angry. Maybe I looked the same as well.

"Blue, you are crossing the limit here. I do not like or deserve to be accused of something I never did in the first place," she said.

Blue just stared at her coldly. I had never seen her look like that. It was interesting, but also kind of scary. So, this was how she was when she was extremely angry. No yelling, or throwing things. Just getting cold.

"So, you are saying my devices are giving me wrong information? Two pairs of eyes have checked the devices and saw you entering our bedroom. Forget about me. But are you implying your brother is lying as well?"

Evelyn let out a hollow laugh. "I don’t even recognize my brother anymore. He is a toy, your toy, Blue. You ruined him! You know, I have always wanted to say it! You did ruin him, after all!"

"Mind your words, Evelyn!" I said, controlling my tone as my son was in my arms. He did not like it when I yelled.

"Why would I? Since marrying her, you have changed like you are a different person entirely! I liked her, I truly did. But then, everything was unsettling, especially how your behavior changed so quickly! She is manipulating you, Demetrius! Can’t you see?"

I chuckled. "Manipulation and my wife? Alright, Evelyn, you and I both know that our family can give her and every single person she has ever known a good lesson on manipulation and matters like that. If you want to accuse her of something, find a good one."

My wife was too honest to manipulate someone.

"You don’t understand, Demetrius. Mother told me everything. You know she is alive, right? She also said how Blue tried to kill her."

"Why would I want to kill Mother in the first place?" Blue asked cooly. No matter what Evelyn said, it had no effect on her. She just did not care. "And you know what? You can believe whatever you want to. But the fact is, if I managed to work out a great plan to manipulate your brother and separate him from his family, I wouldn’t have messed up getting rid of your mother if I wanted to.

Then again, you are free to believe so still, if you wish to."

"Evelyn, we saw you entering our bedroom. Why did you do it?"

"I did not. And I am not willing to listen to this shitty accusation!" Evelyn stood up and slammed the door hard as she stormed off. The sound scared Dion.

"There are a lot of people with red hair, Blue. Are you sure it’s her?" I asked.

"It’s her. You got her smell from it," Blue said.

"But you are the one who said it first. How did you do it?" I pointed out.

"I don’t know. I just… Don’t be mad. I instinctively told you that it’s her."

"Seriously?"

I could not even say it was a wrong move because that hair indeed belonged to Evelyn. But why did she enter our room?

After calming Dion down, I took him to our bedroom for his nap. Dion sometimes hated naps, but he needed them.

"Dem, I really have a bad feeling," Blue muttered while I put Dion in his crib that we brought into our bedroom. None of us could have him out of our sight.

"I will talk to her again today. Right now."

"Be careful. I am not sure… Do you want me to come with you?"

"No, I don’t need you to come with me, honey. Besides, if you decide to come, we will have to take Dion with us and he is sleepy right now. The best thing you can do right now is stay here with our son." Enjoy exclusive adventures from novelbuddy

She pondered for a while and then nodded slowly. "Alright. But, at least, take Luc with you."

"It’s just Evelyn."

"Evelyn killed someone brutally in our bathroom," she said, articulating every word.

"I can do that too," I said. She did not flinch, just stared at me. If she had been like before, she would have flinched. "Yes, I can do it. Killing someone is something any of us can do. And being brutal depends on the person’s mindset.

Just because she has done it doesn’t mean she can win if she attacks me. She is not dumb, Blue. She won’t attack me just like that, even if that’s what she wants."

"Honestly, I kind of doubt that’s what she wants… But we have to be careful. Taking Luc with you is not…"

"It is a bad idea. I don’t want her to know that we think of her as a threat."

It took me a while to convince her, but in the end, she agreed, on the condition that I would return within an hour and a half.

I decided to walk the way, instead of using the teleportation device Blue had made for me. I also wanted to see my surroundings on the way. I still could not get used to the new eye. It was a little… different. And honestly, my ability to lock someone with my power and prevent them from moving had not been the same since losing my eye. It was understandable, though unsettling.

Since I had gotten that power because of my black eyes, losing one of my eyes weakened my power.

’So, if I lose both of my eyes, I won’t have that power anymore.’

I figured it was not something I wanted.
