The Werewolf King's Bride-Chapter 562: Bound To Nothing Has A Consequence
(From Blue’s Perspective)
"Christophen is a better choice," Perita said.
"I am not having your mate around me when you are my personal guard," I said.
"We don’t even act like we are mates!"
"Whatever. It’s a no."
"I don’t even like boys that much."
"Are you lesbian?"
"What’s that?"
"It means, do you like girls?"
"Yeah. I prefer girls. Is that the term for it in Your Highness’s world?"
"Yeah. When girls like girls, we call them ’lesbian’. When boys like boys, we call them ’gay’. When girls or boys like both genders, we call them ’bi-sexual’. When boys or girls do not feel themselves as the gender they were born as and want to be identified otherwise, we call them ’transgender’.
Then, there are non-binary people who like to be identified as an intermediate or separate third gender, identify with more than one gender, no gender, or have a fluctuating gender identity."
"Wow, these are a lot…"
"Well, yeah."
"… I made out with the Queen of Lacuna."
"Perita!"
"In my defense, I was drunk."
"You cannot just… Perita, there are a lot of women around. Just choose someone else. You cannot just make out with the Queen of Lacuna, my gosh!"
"I was drunk and I have no idea how the hell I found her and we both ended up in her bedroom."
"When did it happen? My gosh, you are going to give me a headache!"
According to Perita, it happened when Queen Laetitia came here last time. I knew that woman was no good when it came to these kinds of things, but truly, did she have to go for my personal knight?
While arguing with Perita about it, we reached Flint’s cell. It was actually one of the best cells of our palace. Dem did not like the idea of keeping him here, but I was adamant.
The guards bowed and opened the cell for us. We found Flint lying on the bed and reading a book. His hands were shackled with the kind of metal that prevented mages from using their power.
"Your Highness," he got up and bowed. "Ah, is that…?"
"This is Dion Easton," I said.
"So, the rumors were true. He looks so much like His Highness," he said. "And there is another one coming."
"I don’t like the way you say it, but yes. I am four months now," I said. "Anyway, about the reason why I’m here…"
I sat down on the bed while Perita stood by me. "… is because your wife came here today."
"I see…"
"Well, I don’t think I have to tell you why she came."
"Yes, I do know why."
"You know, I do understand why you did it and without a doubt, I would also do it if it came to my son. But because of you, I almost lost my life and also my child’s. But then again, I am still alive and so is my son," I said. "Tomorrow, go to your family and within a week, leave this capital. I don’t care where else you go. I don’t care if you remain in this kingdom, or just go to another kingdom.
Just don’t remain in the capital. Dem won’t let you live, even if I do. So, just leave."
He stared at me. I was not sure what I saw in his eyes. Surprise? Disbelief? Confusion?
I stroked Dion’s hair who was leaning on my chest. He was sleepy. He was supposed to be as he had played all morning. Dion was a morning person like Dem. He would get up very early and stare at the plant beside his crib. Dem always checked up on him before leaving and if he found Dion asleep, he would bring him to the bed so I could cuddle him.
And if he was awake, he would take Dion with him.
"Your Highness, you are too kind. It’s not okay to be this kind."
"For this once, Flint, and because it’s you," I said. "You helped me before. I remember what others did for me."
I returned to my bedroom as Dion fell asleep. I placed him in his crib gently so he would not wake up. Dion was a deep sleeper, but if he somehow woke up when his nap was not fulfilled, he would be cranky until he fell asleep again.
I also climbed into his crib because I wanted to be with my precious son a little more. I had done it sometimes, especially when I needed to feed him in the middle of the night.
I had no idea when I fell asleep. When I woke up, I found Dem drinking a glass of milk, sitting beside the crib, while reading a newspaper.
"I have no idea how you feel comfortable sleeping like that," he said and smiled at me. Seeing that smile right after getting up from a good nap was one of the best feelings ever.
I smiled back at him. Dion was still sleeping. He was holding a strand of my hair tightly with his little hand. Unfisting it always tested my physical strength.
"When did you come back?" I asked.
"Three hours ago. You were sleeping so soundly, so I did not wake you up," he said. "Now that you have woken up, I should tell you that I am famished and you should come quickly, so we can eat."
"Ah… Yeah, it’s been a long time since you have eaten," I said, trying to get my hair out of Dion’s hand. In the end, I freed my hair, but a few of them remained in his hand. "Where do kids get this much strength?"
"He pulled my hair that day and that shit hurt," Dem said. "Then, he took a mushroom from my plate and when I tried to get it out of his hand, it actually took me a good two minutes."
"It kind of shames someone’s physical strength," I chuckled as I got down from the crib.
He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. He kissed my stomach.
"You are really beautiful," he whispered.
"You always say that," I said. "Am I really?"
"Yes, you are the most beautiful person ever," he said and looked at me.
I would wake up in the morning after getting almost no sleep at night with bags under my eyes and without any shower for three days, he would still lust after me, he would still say I was the most beautiful person ever.
I touched his eyepatch gently and ran my fingers over it. "After it is examined, will you use the new eye I made for you?"
"I told you many times there is no need, but you have gone far and beyond for it. I will use it," he said.
I smiled. He always kept saying that he got used to looking with just one eye. Thankfully, he now agreed to use the eye I made for him. Doctor Dimitri and Cyan were examining it now, to see if it would truly work as a real eye.
"The other day, I read the book you have been keeping in the bed. Actually, I have been reading it for a few days. I have read some parts. From what I read, I found out something."
I was caught off-guard. I did not think he would actually look into that book.
"It says ’bound to nothing has a consequence’."
"Yes?"
"Blue, what you have done, does it have no consequence?" he asked.
’Tell him. Go on.’
"There is no limit for me," I said.
"Blue, I am asking for the truth."
’You know it too, don’t you? You know what consequence you are facing. Tell him. You said you would tell him the truth.’
"I am not sure, Dem. I am not god. I cannot know everything."
"You and I, we never believed in God in the first place, Blue. Must we call them gods just because they made us? Even the ones who make cannot know their creation completely? But I am pretty sure you know it. You know something happened to you."
"Dem, please…"

"Are you going to die, Blue? Are you going to leave me? Are you going to leave our son?"
"No… No, I am not going to die," I said.
"Then what is it? I have a right to know."
"It’s true, Dem. I truly don’t know what."
"But something surely happened, right?"
I nodded.
"I’m sure I am not going to die, Dem. I just think I lost a part of my ability."
"Your power?" he asked.
"Yes. It can be anything. It will take some time to find out exactly what."
"You talk like you have an experience."
"Dem, my power doesn’t allow me to do everything. I could have done everything I wanted to, but I messed up. And I don’t even regret it. I can do without a bit of power just fine," I said.
I took a deep breath. I cupped his face and kissed him on the forehead. "When I… made you my mate… I don’t know what I did, but let’s call it ’making you my mate’, I ended up breaching the first… no, the second law of nature. I am not supposed to do that. It took away my power to control the minds of any person. Humans are out of question as no human is in this world other than Cyan and me.
Even our son is half human. I cannot control the minds of werewolves. I can control animals, but not werewolves."
