The Werewolf King's Bride-Chapter 557: Contagious Fever?
(From Blue’s Perspective)
When we had been talking to the duke of Trouvaille at the banquet, Dion started making the same noise as he always made when he was hungry and he was also putting his hand inside my dress, trying to go for my breasts. I had fed him beforehand, but looked like he was not full. So, I excused myself and went to a room to feed him. Perita had been by my side.
For some reason, at that time, I remembered something. After feeding Dion, I told Perita that I would need to use the restroom. If Perita knew what I was going to do, she would not tell Dem, but Dem would read her mind anyway and get crazy. She waited outside the restroom while I went inside and teleported to my workshop back in Querencia. It did not take me that long.
Magic had a lot of forms. A mage needed to know which form to use to do a particular thing. It was hard, especially when it came to making something. That was why making something out of nothing was the hardest part and was considered impossible. It was because it was hard to know which form of magic to use. It took me long enough to finish it because of that.
"When?" Cyan asked.
"A few days ago. I am not sure if it will work for sure, but… I think it will," I said. As soon as I was done making it, I had felt a pang of pain in my chest. That was the moment I knew I had made it just right and perfect. I also knew that something happened to me.
"He hasn’t tried it, has he?"
"No," I shook my head. "I was not supposed to do it either. I think I crossed some kind of line for this one as well. Actually, I never cared about crossing a line or whatever. I always believed there is none. But there is."
"I want to see it."
"I was going to show it to you anyway. I need you to see it before I let Dem use it," I said.
I trusted Cyan’s judgement when it came to potions and these things. He would know if I did a good job or not. I would also need Doctor Dimitri to check it.
"That said, do you have any idea why Azure sent Lloyd to take you to him?" I asked.
"He has no use of me unless he knows I can make good potions. And I think he can make better potions."
"He cannot use too much power. He needs people on his side."
"Honestly, I think he wanted to see me to punish me. He hated it when someone defies him in any way. You know what I think? I think he hates you too. Be careful now. I feel like he is not going to wait much longer before he lashes out on you too.
He used to tell me one thing. Win, or destroy. If you cannot get something, destroy it," he said. "Be careful now."
"It’s not just me who needs to be careful. Do you know that he can control dark mages too?"
"Blue, no one can control dark mages."
"He can. I know. Trust me I know," I said. "He tried to control me. It was… really scary, the way…"
"Black mana is like a ball of string. You just know how much you have, how many strings you have," I repeated the same words that had come to my mind when Azure had attacked me that day. "He can control us, all of us. That day, he created shadow soldiers who took hold of each of the black string in my body and tried to control their flow to control my mind. I almost…"
I looked towards the door and saw Dem standing there. He had just come in. I now could get his smell from far.
"Has Dion fall asleep?" I asked and he gave a nod.
"I will need to look more into it. And try to…," Cyan said.
"It happens when you let go. There was a voice inside me, guiding me all the time. I just had to let go and accept it. Cyan, if it is not happening, it means you have not tried hard enough and you have not accepted yourself."
"Oh, fuck, I have accepted that shit a long time ago!" Cyan yelled, slapping on the table, knocking off the teapot and cups.
Dem almost charged at him, but I raised my hand to stop him. "If you have accepted it, you wouldn’t be lashing out in front of me, Cyan. Go and think about it. It’s what you want from the inside, not what you say with your mouth. Words mean nothing when it comes to your desire. You cannot have that power if you think of being powerful only.
There is something more than the desire to be powerful. And it needs something more, something great."

Cyan hissed something under his breath and left the room angrily.
"Why is everyone so cranky today?" I muttered. "He made a mess."
"Did you two fight about something? Everything was good until now," he said.
"Not exactly. He is just being stubborn," I said. "Let’s clean this mess first. We don’t want to bother Ruby with something my brother did."
Dem and I cleaned everything up. Ruby did not like the fact that we did not call her to do it. Anyway, everything went well. The talk was good and since Cyan’s mood was like the mood of a pregnant lady going through mood swings, he would come around by time.
"I think King Ford might be a good person, after all," Luc said, savoring the cookies Evan sent for him, knowing how much Luc liked food, especially cookies.
"You are saying that only because you got your cookies," Ruby said. "But truth be told, I also kind of like him. He is a good friend. I have liked him ever since he brought Dion to us. It was truly surprising and something only a great friend would do."

"I appreciate his help for that. He is not a bad person," Dem said.
Luc sharpened his eyes at Dem. "What?" Dem asked.
"Dem thanked Evan," I said. "It was a very sincere thank you."
"I have thanked him once more before that too. I can be sincere when I want to and I was that time," Dem said and looked at Luc disgustedly. "That bastard thinks I cannot be sincere at all."
"Why is that, Luc? I know how sincere Dem can be," I scolded Luc.
Dem truly could be very sincere. I had seen so many times whenever he said he loved me. The way he looked at our son so lovingly was also very sincere. It was just most of the time, Dem did not care much about the world around him. There were also times when he would be insincere so directly that if I was near him, I would get uncomfortable on his behalf.
Well, my husband’s love was what some girls dreamed of, but to take him as he was, you would need to prepare yourself.
I loved him as he was. He could certainly change a bit of himself for the better, but even if he did not, I would still love him the same.
"Anyway, we need to go now. I need to take a cold bath and sleep like a sloth. Dion might get up and cry again. He might have a fever, you know. The doctor warned us about the fevers when the body might not be hot, but there is in fact a fever," I said. "I am having a bad feeling.
We will get him checked right after going back."
"I see. Poor boy, he cried thrice in such a short time," Ruby said. "I have never seen Dion like this. Send us a letter after getting him checked."
"Sure, I will," I said.
We teleported to our bedroom and called Doctor Dimitri right away. Thankfully, Dion was sleeping, making it easy for Doctor Dimitri to check him.
"He has been crying a little more than usual. I mean, he doesn’t usually cry at all. So, it’s concerning. His body temperature is normal, but I think something is not right," I said. "The way he is crying… I don’t know… Something is off."
"He has been tossing and turning in his sleep too. He doesn’t do that," Dem added.
Doctor Dimitri checked him while Dem and I stood there anxiously. I was fidgeting my fingers, trying to stay calm.
"Relax," Dem whispered into my ear.
’I can’t…’
"Your Highness, it might not sound so good when I tell you, but I think the prince has caught a contagious fever," the doctor said finally.
"What?" I almost screamed. "What contagious fever? There is no contagious fever, right?"
"There has been a report of twelve people in the last five days. I am believing this is the same fever those people had. However, I will need to be sure, so give me a day."
