(From Evan’s Perspective)

"What the fuck is she trying to do? What am I hearing?" the master of the magic tower yelled as soon as he entered my tent. His brown hair was as messy as ever and his silver eyes shone with pure anger. "First, we don’t know where Demetrius is and now I hear rumors that the Queen had literally summoned a freaking dragon that breaths dirt and that she has cut a woman in several pieces."

"The dragon breathes black smoke and the woman was an assassin," I corrected. "Blue is capable of doing both and the rumor is not wrong. She, in fact, just announced her power. I heard the knights under the duke has plead loyalty to the Queen’s command. She wants to lead in the war."

"She is pregnant and she has a fractured arm thanks to a certain someone," he grumbled, eyeing me.

"I heard her arm is perfectly fine now," I said. "I got the news that there was no sign of a fractured arm in the courtroom last night. And her pregnancy… People are just amused and… bewildered that she could pull it off in that state. She is quite heavily pregnant."

We heard the news this noon. The news came all of a sudden and it spread like fire among the knights. There were different versions of the story, but I got the right one thanks to my spy.

And Perita was a commander now. It was said she was the first knight to pledge loyalty to the Queen. As expected of her. She had always believed in her, as Blue said to me so one day, even before they got to know about her power. I had seen Perita’s loyalty more than once.

She would do anything for her, and even if Blue did not have the power and asked for loyalty, she would still be the first one to serve her without a question.

"The mistress of the magic tower was there," I said.

"She was? Why am I hearing about it now?"

"It got buried under the exclusive news," I said. "It looked like she knew nothing about it too, as she looked as shocked as most of them."

It was actually very normal to be shocked, as they knew about her power, but did not know exactly what that power could do. I would have been shocked too if I saw it, just less than them. I knew what black mana could do, as I had the same power, but her power was just excessive. It could do wonders.

"Demetrius will never agree to it. I think he is so sick that he could not even say anything."

"I suspect he is too ill to talk. He did not look well," I said. "Blue most probably did not tell him anything and just moved him somewhere safe."

"Move Demetrius somewhere safe?"

Lord Luc looked like he would rather die than think of the possibility. I found it odd too, however, after that incident, nothing seemed odd anymore.

"He is not dead, is he?" he muttered.

"Not dead. I think he is just unable to move too much," I said. "There is no way no one would know anything if the king literally died. He is not dead."

"Blue… I have noticed it before too," he said.

"Noticed what?"

I did not get the answer. He left quickly. But I got the answer and witnessed more than anything I had ever imagined possible.

The war was getting more difficult each day. I had the odd feeling that the number of soldiers were only increasing. And the air was also hard to breathe. Was it just me, or there was truly something in the air? Something that was similar to what weakened King Demetrius?

"I have never in my forty years of life thought I would have fight people with freaking wings?" Marcov yelled through the groaning, yelling, and screaming around us. That man had a bad temper. It got only worse in the following days, thanks to the war and our losing side.

"Well, in my thirty-nine wise years, I have never thought of it either," I said as I shot blazing fire through the sky. Apparently, they thought I was a mage. I could summon more fire, but that would give away my identity.

Mages could summon fire too, but as an Alpha, my choice of power was fire and I could summon it more than any other mage, possibly Blue and her father could do it more than me if their power included summoning fire as well.

A head fell right by my horse. It looked like it had fallen from the sky. Someone was faster at reacting than me, as a young knight, probably just nineteen gasped and pointed at the sky.

"Is that… a… flying snake?" she exclaimed in horror.

Everyone seemed to have stopped, just to look at the sky and see what was going on. I was no different.

"No, Tia, not one flying snake," I said as hundreds of birds raced in the sky, screeching loudly. "Just a few lovely birds."

All of them were black in color and were even bigger than a full-grown eagle. Their eyes were blue, shining brightly like jewels in black fur across the sky. They raced across the knights and only bit those wearing purple. Purple was the color of Mazazine.

"What in the name of your mother is going on?" Lord Luc’s croaky voice rang in the air. He was near me, his eyes were on the strange incident in front of us. Knights and mages tried to fight off those birds, instead of us.

"If you want to watch the show instead of fighting, might as well go to the nearby hill with a binocular," the voice was like lightning. This time, not a bird, but a huge black dragon, flew over our heads for a few seconds at lightning speed, before landing with a loud thud, as knights and mages moved away to make space, precisely saying, to save themselves from being crushed.

The woman who flew down, black smoke around her like a shield, could only be called a goddess. Her dark hair flew in the air, her blue eyes shone brighter than any jewel I had seen, and her pregnant stomach only made her look…

"Unbelievable…," the word was out of my mouth before I knew it.

The dragon roared as she made her way through the shocked eyes of the knights and mages. She looked like a true Queen. The black dress she was wearing was of low neckline and braced her body tightly. On her head was the royal tiara of the Queen.

"If I see another soul not fighting, my children will not just eat those filthy animals’ flesh, but yours as well," she said. Some started charging at the enemy, but most of them still could not believe what they were seeing. "Go!"

It was this command that made everyone turn their head and charge at the enemy. They did not know what was going on. But they knew one thing.

They had to follow her.

She met my eyes and nodded once. I nodded back. The master of the magic tower was going crazy and was actually walking towards her. He was angry.

But that was the least of my concerns. I would do what she wanted me to do. Fight. And I noticed something.

I was smiling.
