Chapter 74: Dagger

Sir Kit was silent. His eyes keep staring into princess Eleanor’s eyes.

"It is not that simple. The temple would not agree and now will be the Emperor. Maybe the Emperor might ask you to stay at the detached palace and get treated first before entering the Palace." Sir Kit tried to reason with her but Princess Eleanor’s eyes were sharp.

"I think I am clear." Princess Eleanor was behaving like a stubborn child but she was not ready to play innocent.

"What if I become impure?" Princess Eleanor’s eyes were sharped as she looked straight at Sir Kit. She bit her lips as she said in a dull tone, "Don’t make me push things, Sir Kit. I want to stay at Duke Beaumont’s palace and I want you near me. I do not mind going to any lengths to do so."

Sir Kit was silent. He was sure Princess Eleanor was bluffing as she would never cross a certain line. No matter how much hard she tried to portray that she might but Sir Kit knew as a Princess, that she had rules and etiquettes embedded in her soul from an early age. She will not do anything stupid. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

’So what is the point of threatening me?’ Sir Kit said as his eyes glowed darker.

"Will Princess Eleanor cross any distance for her means?" Sir Kit asked. His eyes were wide as he looked into her eyes as he moved forward, scaring the Princess in the princess.

Sir Kit’s arms moved around Princess Eleanor’s waist as he pulled her closer. They were leaning on one another. The distance between them was negligent as he smiled. His breathing entangled with the Princess, "Is the Princess ready to cross any lines?"

Sir Kit’s eyes lingered on Princess Eleanor’s lips, "Will you be comfortable with anything?"

Princess Eleanor swallowed hard. When she did the same thing to Sir Kit, Princess Eleanor felt confident. She knew then that she was in control and could move the situation in any direction that she wanted but now Princess Eleanor felt powerless.

Her eyes looked into Sir Kit’s and Princess Eleanor knew that she was keeping her legs in dangerous waters. But when you are in the water, there is no turning back. It either you survive or you don’t and Princess Eleanor wanted to survive.

Princess Eleanor tried to neglect Sir Kit’s presence. Her gaze stayed locked in his as she said, "You need the perfume. And I need protection. It’s your decision now."

As he saw her lips moving, Sir Kit was tempted to move forward and kiss her. He wanted to taste her lips. A part of him was curious to know how it might feel.

Sir Kit’s eyes stayed on Princess Eleanor’s lips for a brief second but he soon shook his head in annoyance. His gaze moved towards her eyes as he knew that the Princess was serious.

’Get a hold of yourself. This is not the right thing to do.’ Sir Kit said in his head as he loosen his grip on Princess Eleanor’s waist. He moved back as he took the vial of perfume from her hand.

"Duke Beaumont will have to talk with the Priest. He is the one who provided the knights for this. But it will be hard." Sir Kit said as he looked at the vial. "I am thankful for the Princess to give this to me and I will make sure to use it properly."

Princess Eleanor was in a daze. The sudden change in the situation made her confused. Princess Eleanor soon realized what was going on.

She took a deep breath as she said seriously, "I have not allowed you to take it yet. I need results."

"And you will get them Princess but you have to be patient. You need to agree to stay in the temple and get help and Duke Beaumont will take care of the rest. He will shift you to his home to get proper treatment but we need to make sure that the treatment here does not work for you."

Princess Eleanor giggled. It was evident that he was not happy with this. Her gaze told it all. None of her expressions were hidden and it was evident how she was feeling at this point.

"How should I trust you?" Princess Eleanor folded her hands as she said in a serious tone. "What will I have that you will help me with? What if you do not, then it will be your words against mine. You would be walking away with the vial and I would be left with nothing in hand. I didn’t think that was fair."

Sir Kit looked at Princess Eleanor. He realized that she was not in the mood of letting this go until he gave her something in return. "So what do people have in mind? What does the Princess want?"

Princess Eleanor smiled as her eyes looked at the man. He was fully suited as if he was going somewhere. Her eyes stayed at the place where Sir Kit wore the seal. Her eyes narrowed as she was about to demand it from him but then she remembered Lady Gisella’s words. It was something the Emperor had given them. What if they wanted to have it back?

"Give me the dagger," Princess Eleanor looked at the small dagger placed near Sir Kit’s waist. "I will keep it to myself till you reach the Duke’s mansion."

Sir Kit was silent as he looked at the dagger with narrowed eyes. It was a dagger belonging to House Beaumont. It had a small dragon carved on the handle with the name of the owner hidden in it.

Sir Kit took a deep breath. He knew that he had to give something in return to the Princess. He was never planning to go back on his words so he was confident that he would get the dagger back.

Sir Kit took the dagger as he gave it to the Princess, "You have to take care of it."
