Chapter 65: Troops

Princess Eleanor stood there in a daze. She held the jacket that was still on her body tightly.

Princess Eleanor was struggling. She wanted to tell Sir Kit that she was fine now. The cut was never too deep and now she was feeling much better. Her leg did not even hurt when she walked but the man did not give her any time to react.

’Am I the only one affected?’ Princess Eleanor thought. Her hands moved over her lips as she touched them softly. ’Is Sir Kit used to such things?’

It was not unnatural for knights to have a few affairs here and there. Princess Eleanor was aware of it but when she thought about the man who always wore a mask in front of her doing the things that they did with others, it left a bad taste in her mouth.

’What am I thinking?’ Princess Eleanor shook her head in annoyance, ’We did not even kiss. Our lips brushed against each other. Nothing more. Sir Kit might not even think about this any further.’

Although such thoughts were playing in the back of her mind, Princess Eleanor could not help but wish that it affected Sir Kit the same way it was affecting her.

"Princess,"

"Princess..."

Princess Eleanor came back to reality when she saw Nia standing there with a plate in her hand. "Where did you go?"

"Oh," Nia said as she placed the plate on the table before moving towards the Princess. She could see a new jacket in Princess Eleanor’s hand as she took it from her. But the Princess refused to let go.

Princess Eleanor’s hand on the jacket tightened as she looked at Nia, who understood and let go of the jacket.

"I went to get you breakfast and some hot water. We will be leaving soon so the knights informed us that we have to eat properly as the lunch might be late." Nia said as she moved towards the trunk and removed the new clothes. "The Princess should get ready soon. We have less preparation time, and I need to change the bandage around your injuries."

Princess Eleanor looked at her legs. Although she was not in pain she knew that she had to keep up the appearance. Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she walked towards the table to fill her stomach.

"Princess, this way." Princess Eleanor heard Nia’s voice as she walked towards the side where Nia was pointing.

Along the way, she could see many carriages, and she saw a few Princesses being escorted. Princess Eleanor’s eyes were observing the knights. All of them wore different seals on their shirts but none of them were made of gold. There were many similarities to that of Sir Kit with a flying dragon but many had different symbols too. There were a few that looked like lions and a few eagles, deers, and bulls.

Princess Eleanor’s eyes were narrowed but she did not voice her questions just yet. Nia held the Princesses hand as she supported her along the way.

At times Princess Eleanor would limp and at other times she would touch her leg with a painful expression. She did not know what others were thinking, but she knew that by now everyone might have known that she was injured when an enemy attacked.

"Nia," Princess Eleanor whispered as she looked around making sure that no one was near them, "Does anyone else wear a mask?"

Nia was silent as her face was filled with confusion but soon she realized the purpose of Princess Eleanor’s questions. Nia’s eyes moved around but she saw no one wearing a mask.

"I heard the escorts that are assigned to protect the Princesses till the time they reach the Royal palace, all wear masks. Their identities are kept hidden and they all belonged to the troops of House Beaumont." Nia said as she smiled.

Princess Eleanor was silent but she still managed to nod her head in acknowledgment. She knew that bringing Nia was the right decision. There is some news or information that only Nia could find out and she did not disappoint.

"How long?" Princess Eleanor asked when she realized that they walked a little away from all the other carriages.

"There." Nia pointed her finger at the carriage at the end. There was a smile on her face but when she turned around to look at Princess Eleanor’s reaction Nia was speechless.

"Why?" Princess Eleanor’s eyes widened. She did not know what to say anymore as she struggled to keep her face straight.

Nia knew what Princess Eleanor was afraid of as she explained in a hurry, "Lady Gisella was afraid that your injuries would be more painful if the Princess traveled in a small carriage so she decided that we could use her carriage for now. Isn’t that great, Princess?"

Nia’s eyes sparkled as she continued, "Our carriage was damaged in the attack and I was afraid that the other Princess would look down on us."

"Did Lady Gisella inform you of this?" Princess Eleanor asked as she looked at Nia.

"Yes, in the morning, before I left her tent, Lady Gisella said that Princess Eleanor is a Princess and a Crow Princess candidate. Someone that lady Gisella had brought in the Roulux Empire so she feels responsible for you."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head in understanding but she knew that something was wrong. Lady Gisella would never say such words unless and until they meant something.

"Who are they?" Princess Eleanor asked as she saw a few young ladies standing near the carriage.

"They are Lady Gisella’s lady in waiting," Nia said with a smile. "They were afraid of the Lady and came here."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head as a smile played on her face. She could imagine Lady Gisella sitting in the carriage waiting for her to arrive.

’She wants to know something from me.’ Princess Eleanor thought as her lips curled up in a smile. Her eyes were glowing as they reached the carriage. ’What a coincidence. I want to know things from her too.’
