The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 244 - 241
King Felix sat on the throne as he looked at his secretary with a narrowed gaze.
"Is this what Crown Prince Richard has said?" His tone was sceptical but there was a sparkle in his eyes. Listening to the official letter being read out, congratulating him on becoming the King was like honey to his ears. The happiness was overbearing and many things were still out of his control.
’Although I am the King, I cannot ignore a letter from the Empire. Especially one that was sent from the Crown Prince himself.’ King Felix was silent as he looked at the letter in the hands of the secretary.
"Yes, Your Highness. The Crown Prince of the Roulux Empire has especially asked for you to be a part of the coronation. The Temple will be hosting a grand event on the eve of identifying Princess Eleanor as the chosen one. And the Crown Prince has mentioned that she wants to see you. Especially when she does not have any family and the closest one to her is you."
King Felix nodded his head. He understood that Princess Eleanor was missing her family. ’I had not communicated with Nia even once after the marriage. I do not have any particular emotions for her, but it was better when I was getting to know what Princess Eleanor was thinking. It set my mind at ease.’
King Felix was feeling anxious. Something was bothering him but he could not quite put his finger on just what it was. It was an overbearing emotion that had no origins.
"Send word to them that I will be attending. Anyway, we do not have a choice in this." King Felix got up with a sigh as he shook his head in irritation. Things were really getting out of hand and he had started feeling the headache setting in.
’No, everything is under my control. Once Eleanor marries the Crown Prince, she will have no right to claim the throne again.’ King Felix sighed as he continued thinking, ’Yes, nothing will happen. She will get to be the Roulux Empire’s Empress and I will keep being the Angevin Kingdom’s king.’
There was a dark glint in his eyes as King Felix thought so. He believed strongly that Princess Eleanor would never know the truth of what he had done. And even if she knows, what would Princess Eleanor do? Nothing was in her control anyway.
’Eleanor was an innocent child. She would never be able to harm anyone or do any damage. So what if she knows what I have done. What can she do?’

"I want him to experience the same death that he made my parents and brother go through." A sharp and determined voice said.
They were seated in the room as Grand Duke Christopher looked at Princess Eleanor who had a dead face. "Can you make it happen?"
"Yes." Grand Duke Christopher responded confidently as he nodded his head, "Do you want him to enter the Roulux Empire or..."
"It would be better if I do not get to see his face."
"But the situation at the Angevin Kingdom will be chaotic." Grand Duke Christopher knew that it would still happen even if they wanted to block all the news. There was no way that they could ever hide such big happenings. Someone or others will eventually know about it.
"How long can it be suppressed before the news reaches the Kingdom?" Princess Eleanor asked as her eyes shook. She knew that things might go out of hand. "Can we hold it in until Prince Arlo reaches the Kingdom?"
"You want to send him back?" Grand Duke Christopher asked. His eyes were narrowed as he struggled to understand what was going on in Princess Eleanor’s mind.
"Yes, he should go back. He cannot stay here for a long time. Once Felix is killed, the Angevin Kingdom will need a new King. I cannot let other people with their greedy hearts claim the throne. It’s better if Arlo, the rightful heir, returns to claim the throne."
Grand Duke Christopher was silent. He could understand where Princess Eleanor was coming from but he felt that the risk was just too high.
"Nia will be coming here tomorrow. I will talk to her about it. It is better if she leaves with Arlo and takes care of him. I am sure that he is better now with the help of Doctor Raul." Princess Eleanor’s eyes softened.
"And what would you say? Why is your lady-in-waiting going back to the Angevin Kingdom?" Grand Duke Christopher asked.
"Do you think people will care? The temple will be so busy and the Emperor could not care less as long as it doesn’t affect him. The only person to ask would be Prince Richard, and I could always tell him that because Nia does not want to meet her former lover, she decided to go back to the Angevin Kingdom and avoid the man. I believe Prince Richard would know of the past relationship between Felix and Nia."
Grand Duke Christopher looked at Princess Eleanor with a strange expression. "Do you really want to do this?"
Princess Eleanor took a deep breath, "Yes." there were no emotions on her face as she blinked her eyes, "He did not think twice before he conspired to kill his King and his best friend. A friend that he called his brother. So why should I think twice about it? Sometimes people have to take what they have given to others in this life. This is Felix’s karma."
Princess Eleanor’s eyes were wild with different emotions, but she hid them adeptly as she smiled innocently, "There are times that I too think... do I want to go down this lane? Should I also go wild and kill people just because I want my revenge? But then I remembered my brother’s face. The fright in his eyes was real. I could see the care for myself in his eyes. My brother wanted me to survive and I plan to do the same."
Princess Eleanor’s voice choked as she swallowed hard, "I want to survive, but I do not know what will happen to me next. Maybe they are not killing me now. But who knows what will happen in the future? Anything can happen and I do not want to take the chance. I am done with living my life in anxiety and fear."
Grand Duke Christopher leaned forward as he touched Princess Eleanor’s hand. "I know where you are coming from. I will take care of everything so you do not have to worry."
Princess Eleanor’s eyes were filled with tears as she looked up at Grand Duke Christopher. She could see that the man sitting in front of her was someone she could trust. Someone who had been giving her strength all these time.
Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she took a deep breath, "I know."
Grand Duke Christopher brushed off the tears clinging onto Princess Eleanor’s eyes. "Are you planning to show this side of you to your lady-in-waiting?" Grand Duke Christopher was confident that by listening to this, Princess Eleanor would be silent. And soon Princess Eleanor’s breathing relaxed. She was in control of herself again.
"I know, I was filled with emotions but I know that I need to be confident in my decision." Princess Eleanor’s hold on Grand Duke Christopher’s hand tightened. "I will let Nia know that she has to take Prince Arlo and go back to the Angevin Kingdom. Seeing that the king is not there, Arlo can easily rest at the palace. And I am sure that until the time the people of the kingdom hear the news that Felix is dead, Arlo will be able to get the people to accept him as the ruler."
"Doctor Raul will follow him too." Grand Duke Christopher said as he smiled. His eyes were telling that he will not accept any other reasons, "And we can say that Raul fell in love with your lady-in-waiting and is chasing her. So he went to the Angevin Kingdom. No one will doubt my words and I will also let a group of the army follow along. Even if Prince Arlo finds himself in any problem, they will be able to help him."
Princess Eleanor was silent. She was happy to get this much support from Grand Duke Christopher but there was a slight fear in her eyes. How much can she take advantage of the man? Will it be okay to just get the benefits and not give anything in return?
Grand Duke Christopher could understand that something was bothering Princess Eleanor but he could not understand what was making her so confused. "What is wrong?’
"You are so kind and yet I..."
Grand Duke Christopher shook his head, "I am doing this because I want to. I am not expecting anything in return. I am happy to see that our feelings are mutual and we both want to live by one another’s side. So my dear Eleanor, stop overthinking. Get your revenge and leave your past behind. I am waiting for you to hold my hand and walk toward our future together."
Princess Eleanor was speechless. She had no way to express her emotions as she nodded her head readily. She was looking forward to their future too.
