The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 243 - 240
Princess Eleanor looked at Christopher walking towards her with small steps. Although he was confident in his walk, it was evident that Christopher was not very happy.
Grand Duke Christopher did not waste any time as he sat beside Princess Eleanor with a sad smile on his face. "Is something the matter?"
Grand Duke Christopher knew that Princess Eleanor would be worried if he did not come clean. "I do not think I will be able to get Felix to come here. He and the Crown Prince have a deep connection and it can make them doubt me if I take any actions on calling Felix here."
"I know that." Princess Eleanor said with a smile. When she had a chance and she kept silent and thought about things, she knew that it would create problems. "I will let Prince Richard invite him here, but can we delay my coronation until the time they arrive?"
Grand Duke Christopher nodded his head. "When do you want to take action against them?"
"A day before the coronation." Princess Eleanor’s voice was dull. She knew that it was something she truly wanted to do. "Can we still continue the coronation after carrying out the plan?"
Grand Duke Christopher smiled. "Prince Richard had to go to the Cenid Kingdom to ease the tension. Of course, he cannot go out before the coronation. But the Cenid Kingdom will not keep quiet and silent about this. After all, they have lost their Princess."
Princess Eleanor’s eyes widened. She knew that Christopher had taken revenge for her, but did he really kill the princess? Her body stiffened and Grand Duke Christopher could not help but keep looking at her with a soft gaze. "She tried to kill you. If it wasn’t for her frightened lady-in-waiting that missed the vital part, I don’t kno..."
Grand Duke Christopher did not continue as he was afraid that he might not be able to control his emotions. It was a difficult topic for him to speak of and now looking at the situation, he could not tell what steps he might take.
Princess Eleanor smiled as she looked up at the Grand Duke, "I understand." There was no sadness in her eyes. She knew that being a royal was not easy. Although the only thing that people saw was luxury, the reality was different. They were surrounded by constant fear and anxiety. Their own siblings try to kill one another. Survival is difficult and when one dies, then how hard will it be to rectify the situation?
"Does the Cenid Kingdom love their Princess that much?" Princess Eleanor asked as she blinked her eyes. "It only makes sense if the Princess was loved by all, otherwise I personally do not think that the Cenid Kingdom will go out of their way to take revenge."
"She was loved by her brother. But if the rumors are true, the Princess there can inherit the throne. If she dies, it’s a beneficial situation for her brother too." Grand Duke Christopher said, "And if my reports can be trusted, the person has sent many assassins to kill the Princess. Maybe her lady-in-waiting was also one of them."
"Kelly?" Princess Eleanor raised her eyebrows but soon she shook her head. Even if she was or not, it has nothing to do with her anymore. "I do not wish to talk about the dead."
Princess Eleanor’s eyes softened as a smile spread across her face. Thinking back on Lady Gisella’s words, she felt like her heart was about to melt.
"Christopher," Princess Eleanor’s tone was soft as she took a deep breath, "Kit..."
Listening to her calling him Kit, Grand Duke Christopher’s body stiffened. Even if he wanted to say something, he could not bring himself to say it. His throat tightened as he became nervous for no reason. He did not know what to expect when Princess Eleanor used this name to call him.
"What..." Grand Duke Christopher asked as he looked at Princess Eleanor but seeing the emotions flashing in her eyes, he noticed that it was filled with a soft glow as if she was looking at her lover.
Princess Eleanor did not waste any more time as she hooked her hand on his shoulders and pulled herself up, kissing the man’s lips. She could feel Christopher’s body stiffening as she closed her eyes and moved a little further up. She wanted to show the man that if he could love her that much, then she could love him as much too. The feelings that they shared were mutual and went both ways.
"Eleanor..." Grand Duke Christopher said in a soft tone. He reveled in the feeling of being loved, but he knew that he was a beast and his lover was injured. He could not risk her being hurt or in pain.
Princess Eleanor could feel the pain in his gaze as she touched his cheeks. "It’s okay." Her tone was in whispers as she continued, "We just need to be extra careful."
Grand Duke Christopher swallowed hard. "I love you." As soon as Princess Eleanor said those words, Grand Duke Christopher knew that it was too late to tell himself to stop. He swooped down and kissed Princess Eleanor as he tried to pull the pressure off her. He did not want the Princess to suffer.
Soon one thing led to another and the night became alive again.
—-
Princess Eleanor rubbed her eyes as she yawned. It was a new day and she could see the sun coming up. A smile played on her face as she turned around only to see the Grand Duke lying on the bed beside her.
Last night was filled with wonderful memories for them. She could feel the man’s love and care for her as he carefully handled her. He made sure that she was experiencing pleasure the entire time and that there was no force applied to her wound.
’I really love you.’ Princess Eleanor thought as she gently stroked Christopher’s hair. She smiled at him slowly and innocently. ’As much as you love me.’
Princess Eleanor remained silent as she drew in a deep breath. Getting up, she was careful to wrap herself with a thin blanket before walking towards the wardrobe. She knew that it was time for her to make a move. If Grand Duke Christopher could not bring Felix to her, then Princess Eleanor was confident that she could do it herself.
"Tell the Crown Prince that I want to meet him." Princess Eleanor gave an order as she walked out of the room. She was still a little weak, but she knew that some things cannot be pushed back any longer. She needed to strike when the iron was still hot. "I will be waiting for him in the rose garden."
The knight nodded as he walked away, but soon Princess Eleanor saw Commander Colt at a distance. He walked towards her and bowed when he was a few steps away. "I would like to escort the Princess."
Princess Eleanor took hold of his hand as she smiled at him in gratitude. Having a supporting hand was very much welcomed in her weakened state. As they were making their way to the garden, Princess Eleanor asked him in a small tone, "Is he your Lord?"
Commander Colt knew what Princess Eleanor was referring to. He nodded his head as he whispered back. "I was given a mission on the day that the Lord came back from the Angevin Kingdom."
"When he saved me?" Princess Eleanor asked as she bit her lips.
Commander Colt did not reply but simply nodded his head. The answer was quite clear. Princess Eleanor’s eyes softened as she smiled, "I understand."
Soon Princess Eleanor sat down on the chair in the garden. She could feel the cold wind blowing and lifting her hair off her back a little and she felt refreshed. "Don’t let him see you."
Commande Colt nodded his head as he took a step back, but soon Princess Eleanor’s words stopped him, "And tell him that I will come to him once I am done with my work here."
Commander Colt did not need to know who the man in Princess Eleanor’s words was. He nodded his head as he started walking towards Princess Eleanor’s room.
Princess Eleanor was silent as she bit on her lips. She knew that maybe Christopher would not be happy with her decision. After all, Christopher did not like Prince Richard and it was evident.
"Princess." A deep voice called out. Princess Eleanor looked up at the man with a polite smile.
"Crown Prince Richard, greetings." Princess Eleanor tried to get up but Crown Prince Richard stopped her. He did not say anything but sat beside her as he looked at her with concern.
"I heard that you were yet to open your eyes." There was a slight sadness in Prince Richard’s tone as he continued, "I did not know that the Princess would be awake and about so soon."
"I cannot be sleeping for long, can I?" Princess Eleanor asked as she blinked her eyes, "But we have made a deal and I think I should respect that. You made me the chosen one so I will make you the Emperor."
Crown Prince Richard’s lips curled up in a smile. He was happy that his hard work was about to be paid off.
"But I want Felix to be here at my coronation." Princess Eleanor said as she looked down. There was sadness in her tone, "He is my only friend that is still alive and well. At an important moment like this, I want to share it with him. It will make me feel like I have my family with me on such an important day."
Seeing Princess Eleanor’s choked up voice and tears rolling down from her eyes, Crown Prince Richard was silent. He knew that he had to keep the Princess happy. At least, until the time she announced that he was the one chosen by her to be the future Emperor.
"I will send an official invitation to him. Your best friend will be here on your big day, Princess. I can guarantee you that." Crown Prince Richard said confidently, unaware of the smirk that was playing on Princess Eleanor’s face that was facing downwards.
