Chapter 189: Chapter 189

Sir Kit looked at the sleeping figure of Princess Eleanor.

She was sleeping so soundly as if no nightmares were troubling her. But soon his perspective changed. He could see Princess Eleanor struggling in her sleep as her eyes fluttered. Although he could see that Princess Eleanor’s eyes were closed, she was still in the dream. But it was not a pleasant one but a nightmare.

Sir Kit could not understand how he should move forward with the thoughts that were making him struggle. It was an understatement if he said that he was not feeling bad. He really was, but there were times when he had to be silent and patient.

Sir Kit moved towards Princess Eleanor as he touched her forehead softly. He did not want to wake her up but he also wanted to make sure that she did not suffer anymore. The feeling of helplessness was huge and yet he tried to smile and forget everything else.

"I hope that you overcome this nightmare soon." Sir Kit’s voice was soft as he landed a soft kiss on her forehead.

His eyes turned soft as he said, "Sweet dreams, dear princess. I wish you would think more about our future together as a couple in those dreams. Maybe that will ease you of those pain rather than having nightmares of the past that could not be changed."

—----

As soon as the sun came up, Princess Eleanor’s eyes fluttered as she looked around. She could see Sir Kit talking to Nia as if he was instructing her on some things that needed to be done.

Hearing the slight movement, Sir Kit looked her way as he smiled welcomingly. Sir Kit walked toward Princess Eleanor with hope in his gaze. There was a smile on his face as he cupped Princess Eleanor’s cheek, "Good morning, Princess."

Sir Kit could see the confusion in Princess Eleanor’s eyes. "Doctor Raul will be here anytime now. He said he wants to learn about the plant and poison from you."

Princess Eleanor was still in a daze as she nodded her head subconsciously. She could hear laughter from Sir Kit whose eyes narrowed as he moved closer to her ears. "I think you should spend some time with your lady-in-waiting today. I heard that her lover’s marriage will be taking place today."

Princess Eleanor looked over at Nia who had been silent for so long. She nodded her head subconsciously as she looked back towards Nia who blinked at her, curiously observing what was going on between the two.

Princess Eleanor’s cheeks turned red as she bit her lips. She wanted to move back but could not as her gaze was locked with Sir Kit and her body subconsciously maintained her position.

"Princess, do not try to avoid me. You will be going to the Royal Palace soon. But do not worry, I will keep my promise. I will be there to make the nightmare disappear again."

Sir Kit moved towards Princess Eleanor as he whispered the promise softly into her ears. He could feel Princess Eleanor’s body stiffen. A smile played on his face as he blinked his eyes and took a step back. "I will see you around, Princess."

Sir Kit looked back as he walked towards the door, quickly disappearing from her sight.

"Princess?" Nia ran towards Princess Eleanor with a worried expression.

Princess Eleanor shook her head. She could feel the worry that was in Princess Eleanor’s eyes as she bit her lips. "Nothing is wrong." Princess Eleanor sighed as she got up from bed, "We should get ready. Doctor Raul will be here soon."

—---

The room was filled with gloominess as the man sat in the position of the head. The mask that was on his face a few minutes prior was now sitting on the table. "Any updates?"

"As we have thought, the Crown Prince had gifted the diamond mine to Duke Felix of Angevin Kingdom. If everything works fine, then the situation in the mine would deteriorate soon. The working environment is not ideal as of now and I have heard that the Duke will personally visit it with Princess Macy after their marriage."

Grand Duke Christopher nodded his head as he looked at Lady Gisella with a smile, "You have done the job beautifully. Is anything else on the front of Princess Eleanor’s image in society? I see that the situation is not that favourable yet."

Lady Gisella sighed, "The Princess is here at the Duke’s mansion whereas the other Princesses are making visits to the tea parties or meeting with other nobles in the market. Although people say that it is coincidental, it really is not. No one knows when the prophecy will come down, so every Princess is trying to make a stand for herself."

Sir Kit nodded his head. What Lady Gisella was saying was true. Because she was not out there, making herself known, Princess Eleanor’s popularity had dropped drastically.

"But there is something else. Marquess Gio’s family is making a move. I heard that they are taking a stand and making sure that Princess Vida becomes the future Crown Princess. And as per my sources, they are helping Princess Vida deal with other Princesses as well."

"Deal with other Princesses?" Grand Duke Christopher raised his eyebrows before narrowing his gaze. "What do you mean by that?"

Lady Gisella took a deep breath. She wanted to tell the truth but she could feel the uneasiness and worry it would put the man into. But Lady Gisella also knew that if she did not say anything now, it would be more difficult later on when he gets to know it from other sources.

"There were some accidents that have been happening in the Royal Palace. There were occurrences where some Princesses got hurt... apparently by accident." Lady Gisella looked at the Grand Duke. His eyes were narrowed dangerously as he tapped his fingers on the table with irritation. "There were also cases where the Princesses were mistreated in the market. Although the knights are always following after them, the ones quarrelling with the Princesses are the old lovers of the Crown Prince."

"So the knights cannot protect the Princesses?" Grand Duke Christopher raised his eyebrows as he swallowed hard. "I did not think that the people were so irresponsible."

"They are not and in usual cases, it will not happen as well. But the situation in the Royal Palace has become highly complicated lately. Because of Marquess Gio’s interference, all the people have the thoughts that Princess Vida would be the next Crown Princess. As for the Crown Prince’s lovers, the knights cannot offend them as well because all of them are from noble families. And with their past with the Crown Prince, it makes things complicated with the knights as well."

Grand Duke Christopher shook his head irritatedly. "So we have decided to not play by the rules? Have people really become so brave? I wonder if it is in their blood?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"We cannot ignore the fact that Marquess Gio is Crown Prince Richard’s brother. And it is a well known fact that Marquess Gio’s heir is in love with the Grand Duke." Lady Gisella sighed as she shook her head. "Anyways, the people have respect for Princess Eleanor and I have made sure to make them know that House Beaumont accepts the Princess and supports her. The only thing that will help the most is getting Princess Eleanor more acquainted with people."

"The identity of the Crown Princess had already been decided on." Grand Duke Christopher looked up as he shook his head in irritation. "We know it very well. Prince Richard has made sure that no one doubts her abilities as well. Why do you think he has personally come here and even stayed for a few days? It was all to make sure the temple gets the cure and to embed in the minds of others that he thinks positively about Princess Eleanor. It was a well devised plan."

Lady Gisella nodded her head as she looked at Grand Duke Christopher. "The Princess will soon enter the Royal Palace. I am afraid..."

"Nothing will happen to her," Grand Duke Christopher nodded his head as his eyes narrowed, "I will be there to protect her and keep her safe. And won’t you be there as well?"

"I will be there," Lady Gisella bit her lips as she rubbed her hands a little nervously. Looking up, she blinked her eyes.

"Princess Eleanor has requested for you to visit her at the Royal Palace." Grand Duke Christopher rested his head on his hand. Princess Eleanor had asked this of him with much hope. "I hope Lady Gisella will not disagree on this."

Lady Gisella nodded her head as she looked at Grand Duke Christopher, understanding what he meant. "I will."

"I hope Lady Gisella will stay with Princess Eleanor and protect her from the inner palace politics. I do not want her to suffer. At all." Grand Duke Christopher inclined his head. "I do not care if the nobles care about her or not. Their opinions are useless to me. But I want Princess Eleanor to be happy there and I hope you will take care of that."

Lady Gisella nodded her head. "Yes. I will protect Princess Eleanor. No matter what."
