Chapter 184: Chapter 184

Sir Kit walked into Princess Eleanor’s room as he looked towards where she was seated.

"Princess had called for me?" Sir Kit asked, but his eyes kept on looking at the Princess who held a crumpled letter in her fist.

"Yes. I did call for you," Princess Eleanor said with an annoyed tone. It had been a few hours since she had asked Commander Colt to call Sir Kit over, but the man had not come. Princess Eleanor had started thinking that maybe Sir Kit had been stuck somewhere and would not be able to make it.

The overthinking had gotten to a point where Princess Eleanor no longer knew what to think anymore. The things that she had to find out from Duke Beaumont were too specific. Princess Eleanor did not know how to get the information without getting caught and that was making her uncomfortable.

Princess Eleanor bit her lips as she looked up at Sir Kit. She knew from the body language of Sir Kit, that he had suffered a lot. Although the man wore a mask, it was evident that he was exhausted and tired.

"Crown Prince Richard has left the Beaumont house," Princess Eleanor smiled as she looked at the side, indicating Sir Kit to take a seat beside her.

"I am aware of it." Sir Kit sighed as he walked towards Princess Eleanor before taking a seat. "He is said to have returned to the Royal Palace."

"He has given something to me." Princess Eleanor said as she blinked her eyes. Her gaze looked down at the paper but soon her face was tinted red in embarrassment. "This..."

Princess Eleanor hurriedly placed the paper on the table in front of her as she started to smoothen it out. She did not want to show her childish behaviour to Sir Kit but Princess Eleanor could not help it.

Sir Kit’s lips curled up as he saw Princess Eleanor’s struggles. He placed his hand over her as he said in a soft tone, "Let me do it."

Sir Kit took the letter as he smoothed his hand over the paper, trying to straighten it. Soon the paper flattened out and Sir Kit wanted to return it to Princess Eleanor but she refused it as she looked at Sir Kit and said in a small tone, "You should read it. These are the papers that Crown Prince Richard wants from the Grand Duke."

Sir Kit looked down as he quickly scanned the contents of the letter. The first and the last paragraph were normal, telling Princess Eleanor that he will be leaving the Beaumont mansion soon and to take care of herself and get well soon. But the middle portion had a wrongly written list of pages that he wanted.

’So after getting the news that the First Prince had returned, you have decided to do anything it takes to remove me from the power struggle?’ Sir Kit thought as he curled his lips in disdain.

Sir Kit smiled as he looked at the Princess, "You want to have a false copy made of all these documents?"

Princess Eleanor did not respond to the question right away. She kept on staring at Sir Kit’s eyes that were visible through the mask. The dream and reality were overlapping as one and although Princess Eleanor wanted to smile happily, she could not make up her mind and come to a conclusion.

"Princess?" Sir Kit kept the paper away as he extended his hand, gently touching Princess Eleanor’s face. He could feel that something was bothering her but he could not figure out what the matter was. "What is it?"

With the sudden warm touch on her face, Princess Eleanor came back to reality as she looked to the side. "What were you saying?" Her voice was soft as if she was whispering, but there was still dizziness in her eyes which did not go unnoticed by Sir Kit.

"I will give you the fake documents." Sir Kit repeated as he put a little pressure on her hand, making the Princess look up at him from her daze. His eyes kept on staring at Princess Eleanor, captivating her and making sure that there was no chance of her hiding something from him.

Sir Kit did not understand why he was feeling such emotions, but there was a feeling of possessiveness where he wanted the Princess to only look at him and think about him. Was this not the reason why he had decided to take the extreme step?

Sir Kit sighed as he leaned a little towards Princess Eleanor. "Something is bothering you, Princess. Please let me know what it is? I might be able to help you."

Princess Eleanor was silent for some time. She nibbled on her lips as she thought deeply. She knew that maybe Sir Kit was right. He might be able to help her but she still fears knowing the truth. At this point, she could not figure out what to expect and from whom?

Princess Eleanor trusted Sir Kit and there was no other way around it. The trust was deep but there were also times when she felt that maybe she was giving him her blind trust. But Princess Eleanor was also well aware that she could not do anything else. She was alone in the Roulux Empire. Although Nia was with her, she was not from the Empire itself. The situation here was unknown to them and a little overwhelming too.

The worst part was that Princess Eleanor felt alone. She had no family and the few relatives she had were the killers who had taken everything from her. The man she used to call her best friend was no longer someone she knew. He might or might not be involved with the matter, but in Princess Eleanor’s heart, she knew that somewhere deep inside, he was an active partner. But the question still bothered her. Why would Felix do it? What was more important than a beautiful friendship of many years?

Princess Eleanor looked up at Sir Kit’s eyes as she tried her best to control her fluctuating emotions. But looking directly at the man made it far more difficult than what she had imagined it to be.

"I had a nightmare yesterday..." Princess Eleanor finally spoke as she looked straight into Sir Kit’s eyes. "And I saw something that I have never seen before."

Sir Kit had seen Princess Eleanor going into nightmares before. It was not a pleasant experience for him and that was more than annoying. "What did you see?"

Sir Kit’s tone was full of emotions. He knew that he was at a stage where he had to come clean at some point. But something was bothering the Princess, and he wanted to understand it more clearly.

"I saw someone saving me then. But could not see his face clearly," Princess Eleanor looked down at her hands that were resting on her legs. Her eyes were filled with uncertainty as if she was thinking whether she should ask further or not.

Princess Eleanor soon made up her mind as she looked up, "The man had your eyes, Sir Kit. Were you there that day? Or am I just thinking too much into it? I do not know what to think anymore."

Princess Eleanor’s voice was shivering. She tried to control her raging heart but she failed to do so. "I know that this might sound crazy to you but I don’t know anymore. I feel like the dividing line between reality and dream is getting thinner and thinner. Were you there? Or am I just imagining things?"

Sir Kit could feel the pain Princess Eleanor was feeling. There was no denying that the Princess was feeling unsure of the situation. "That.... Princess, please do not overthink...."

Sir Kit pulled Princess Eleanor near him as he rested his chin over her head. "Princess, do not overthink. Let things move naturally."

Princess Eleanor could hear the strong heartbeats of Sir Kit making her uneasy heart relax. Princess Eleanor smiled as she nodded her head. Even though she had said that she would not think too deeply about anything else and focus on things that were before her eyes, Princess Eleanor felt that it was the most difficult task to do.

"I am trying..." Princess Eleanor said as she took a deep breath, "I really am, but the nightmares keep on recurring. The curiosity that I am trying to bury deep is nowhere near being extinguished. I am getting irritated and unsure if the path I have taken is making me crazy. What if this continuous thought of revenge is making me hallucinate?"

Sir Kit could feel Princess Eleanor shivering in his arms. The feeling of uneasiness was overwhelming. No matter how much he tried to make his heart stronger, seeing Princess Eleanor in such a condition was breaking his heart.

"I will be there with you. If the Princess is afraid of the nightmare, then I will be there to accompany you during the nights. Princess should trust the path she has chosen for herself."

Princess Eleanor swallowed hard as she nodded her head. Her eyes were glinting with unshed tears as she swallowed hard. Princess Eleanor moved a couple steps back as she looked up at Sir Kit. "But where were you when they killed my family?"
