The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 178
Princess Eleanor walked into the library and she smiled. It was late at night as she made her way along the corridor, but there was a man walking beside her.
Princess Eleanor was not in a good mood but she still had to keep a smile on her face. After all, it was rude to be mean to the Royal family.
"Is the Crown Prince sure that you want to come with me to Doctor Raul’s laboratory?" Princess Eleanor asked as she looked up at the man. She could see the smile on his face as if he was enjoying their little walk but he did not say anything else.
"Did Princess Eleanor enjoy the company of the other Princesses?" Crown Prince Richard avoided her question naturally. After all, because of his position, he was not used to answering the questions of others. "It must be refreshing seeing so many people here. I could tell by the spark in your eyes that Princess must have really enjoyed herself."
"I was happy," Princess Eleanor said as she looked forward. She knew that even though the Crown Prince avoided her question, she was in no position to avoid his. It would be considered rude and she was not in a mood to draw a line between them.
Princess Eleanor knew that she had to maintain her waiting-for-revenge persona in front of the Crown Prince. Or at least, until the time she was crowned the future Crown Princess. This was the discussion and agreement she had come to with Sir Kit.
Princess Eleanor endured it as she blinked her eyes, trying to look normal. She knew that the Crown Prince would be observing her silently and she had to maintain her stand.
"Do you really need to go there?" Crown Prince Richard asked as he raised his eyebrows in irritation. There was a smile on his face but his gaze was dark as if he was trying hard to maintain his composure. "You could just call Doctor Raul to attend to you here. That would be easier, wouldn’t it?"
Princess Eleanor laughed as she shook her head. "Well, that can be easy but it can also be hard." Princess Eleanor saw that they were reaching the door. She knew that once she entered it, all she had to do was show her saddened face. "Doctor Raul is busy with the chief healer. I don’t know what they are doing behind closed doors, but I am guessing that it must be something important. Because he did not even come to give me my medicines."
The Crown Prince’s eyes narrowed, "He did not send you your medicines? Does he want you dead?"
Princess Eleanor wanted to laugh as she shook her head, "How is that possible? Doctor Raul will never do that. It is just that he was not able to come personally. One of the soilers brought it over to me."
"But then why are you here?"
"Because I am in a position where I cannot trust anyone. I do not know who has poisoned me, and I do not know who will try to harm me in the future. I do not want to take the risk, even if it is a small one. I just want things to quiet down a little." Princess Eleanor stood in front of the door as she smiled, "I trust that Doctor Raul will not do anything to harm me, but I have to be careful with every step I take. That is the reason why I am afraid."
"And why do you think Doctor Raul will not harm you? I can see that you trust him even more. To the point that you came all the way here just to drink the medicine prepared by him. You wanted him to serve you the bowl with his own hands, didn’t you?"
Princess Eleanor simply smiled but did not respond. Her meaning was self-evident that whatever the Crown Prince was saying was the truth. "Here we are." Princess Eleanor smiled as she opened the door after knocking on it twice.
As soon as Princess Eleanor and the Crown Prince entered the room, their smile slipped. There was an unspeakable expression on their faces as they shook their heads.
"Can I ask what is going on?" The Crown Prince asked as he looked at the purple faces of the people standing in front of them. One of the men had an angry expression while the other had helpless feelings painted on their faces.
Princess Eleanor who was standing beside the Crown Princess was trying extremely hard to bite back her laughter. She could tell that Doctor Raul was not happy. His eyes had turned red with annoyance as if he was ready to kill the chief healer. But with his purple face, it looked extremely funny.
Princess Eleanor was silent as she shook her head. It was understandable that Doctor Raul was angry, but it was a part of their plan. They have to make sure that the people of the temple are confident that they are able to come up with the cure. After all, they will be the ones providing the medicine in times of need.
Princess Eleanor took a step forward as she blinked her eyes innocently, "Whose idea was this? You both look so unique..."
Princess Eleanor’s words make the chief healer embarrassed as he looked down. Doctor Raul’s lips twitched as he shook his head. "I am happy that the Princess is enjoying herself at our expense."
Doctor Raul’s eyes turned towards the two who had just entered. "Princess Eleanor, why are you here? I heard that you refuse to drink the medicine I had sent you?"
Princess Eleanor walked toward a chair but she did not sit. She turned around as she said to the Crown Prince, "Prince..."
Crown Prince Richard smiled. He was happy that even though Princess Eleanor was not from the Empire, she knew that she should not sit down until he did. After all, he was of highest status among all who were currently in the room.
The Crown Prince walked over as he blinked his eyes before softly touching Princess Eleanor’s head and moved to sit down. Princess Eleanor’s lips twitched as she bit her lips. Her hands formed a fist but she discreetly hid it under her long dress. Princess Eleanor took a deep breath before she took a seat on the chair as well.
"You did not bring the medicine personally, so I thought to come here. But looking at your faces, it looks like I did not make a mistake." Princess Eleanor smiled as she leaned forward. "What were you doing?"
Doctor Raul ran his hand through his hair as he said in an annoyed tone, "The chief healer was trying to do some unnecessary experiment even though I told him specifically not to. Looks like old habits die hard. The people from the temple are as arrogant as ever, never listening to anyone."
Doctor Raul looked at the chief healer from the corner of his eyes who shook his head as if the words did not affect him at all. The chief healer walked toward the Crown Prince as he bowed down and said with a happy tone, "Long live the Crown Prince. I want to inform the Crown Prince that I have mastered the medicine."
The Crown Prince did not reply but there was a smile in his eyes. He nodded his head but Princess Eleanor’s words soon broke his train of thoughts.
"Really? That is such good news." Princess Eleanor clapped her hands in excitement as her eyes glowed, "So why don’t the chief healer prepare the medicine for me today? I would love to try it."
Looking at the expectant gaze of Princess Eleanor, the chief healer was silent as he swallowed hard. He looked at the Crown Prince as if to wait for his approval.
The Crown Prince looked at Princess Eleanor. He knew that he would need someone to test the medicine mixture. Someone who is affected would be a better choice.
"Is Princess Eleanor sure about her words? Will you be comfortable drinking the medicine made by the chief healer?" Crown Prince Richard asked as he looked at Princess Eleanor’s change in expression. He knew that the only person affected by the poison was Princess Eleanor and she would only be the one who will be able to judge if the cure really works. If Princess Eleanor survives, then the medicine works.
Princess Eleanor nodded her head. "I have tried many medicines made by the chief healer in the temple. I trust his medical skills a lot, and I think it will also make the chief healer feel better when he sees me getting better." Princess Eleanor looked at the chief healer with a smile on her face, "After all, he was the first one to treat me in the temple when nothing was known about the disease."
The chief healer nodded his head in a hurry. He could not miss out on such an opportunity. He knew the meaning of this opportunity. He will be able to prove his value not only in front of Crown Prince Richard but also in the eyes of Priest Erasmus.
"I will make the medicine right away!" the chief healer said with a smile. He walked in a hurry towards the ingredients. But as he started working, he was unaware of the sly smiles lingering on Doctor Raul and Princess Eleanor’s faces.
