The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 116
Nia looked around in the dark corridor as she could not understand where she needed to go.
She took a deep breath as she made up her mind. She knew that she needed to go and get the information but she could not understand where to.
’Things must have been so much easier if we were at the Angevin Kingdom,’ Nia thought as she bit her lips. She knew that if she was at the Angevin Kingdom the mood of collecting information would have been simpler and less hectic. She knew all the right places and all the right corners but she was like a lost rabbit who did not know the place.
"Are you sure that you heard the same?"
Nia could hear a whispering voice coming her way. Her gaze turned sharp as her steps became lighter. She did not know why but Nia felt that it was something important. Something that she wanted to discover. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Why would they ask him to do that? He is loyal to the Crown Prince."
"Do you think Duke Beaumont will allow him to stay at the castle to live?"
"I heard that maybe they wanted the Princess to be safe in the Grand Duke’s house. Isn’t it funny? I think the Princess will be safe there and yet..."
"Let’s not talk about it. We need to be careful. Even though Commander Colt is a powerful knight, he is not as powerful as the Grand Duke."
"Let’s not talk about him. We should leave.."
Nia’s breaths were hitched. She covered her mouth with both of her hands as she swallowed hard. She had heard their conversation clearly. There was a Commander Colt who was loyal to the Crown Prince.
But Nia was not satisfied with it. She wanted to know more about it. Nia felt like she needed to give the Princess some more information if she wanted to help her. Knowing only the name of the man was not enough.
Princess Eleanor walked towards the kitchen. She knew that it was the only secure place where she could get the information. People like to talk about things when they are preparing food or preparing for it. Nia’s constant visits to the kitchen to make Princess Eleanor something light to eat had helped her to gain friends.
"Nia," One of the cooks smiled as she saw Nia enter. "Does Princess Lenaor want something to eat?"
Nia nodded her head. Although she knew that it was not true Nia was well aware that it was only to get talking with someone and get to know more.
"Yes," Nia blinked her eyes as she moved towards the table as she started cutting some fruit, "Princess Eleanor cannot eat solid food. I am a little worried about her."
"Do not worry a lot," the cook said as she smiled, "I heard you will be going to Duke Beaumont’s mansion. Doctor Raul is really good. He will definitely make Princess Eleanor feel better.
Nia nodded her head as she knew that she had gotten the sympathy that she needed. "Yes, but the Princess is a little scared. She was meant to enter the Royal palace and now suddenly she is told to go to Duke Beaumont’s mansion."
The cook laughed, "Yes, but I think the Grand Duke’s house is the safest place. The Princess need not be worried at all."
"Hmm..." Nia nodded her head as her speed of making things increased. "Oh, we went to the banquet today. I think the Princess liked it. It was refreshing for her."
The cook smiled, "Yes, I heard the Princess was only staying in her room because of her legs. It is good to know that she was enjoying today’s outing."
Nia nodded her head, "Yes, I saw many knights there too. Is it common?" Nia blinked her eyes nervously. She wanted information but she did not want it to be too obvious.
"Oh, yes it is common here." the cook nodded her head. "The Royal knights usually state near such things. We do have some very famous ones in the Empire."
"I heard Commander Colt was very good looking," Nia asked in a low tone. Her voice was soft but when the cook looked at her, she moved her eyes down as if she was embarrassed.
"You have fallen into the trap," The cook sighed as she shook her head. "Well, you are not the only one who thinks so. So many people like him. I still do not understand why he is still single."
"Is Commander Colt so famous?" Nia blinked her eyes as if she was shocked by the news.
"He is," The cook nodded her head, "He is the most glorious one of the royal knights. He is tall and handsome. He holds the greatest power over all the knights and the rumors say he is really close to the Crown Prince. If I am not wrong I heard he was as powerful as the grand Duke but it is just the rumors. People had hardly seen them together."
"Huh?" Nia was confused as she tilted her head, "In our Kingdom, we have a competition. All the eligible warriors fight it out regardless of their status. Does something like this not happen here?"
The cook shook her head, "Well, not really. To be honest I feel like it should have been. People would die to see the knights fight it out but the Royal family does not encourage such things." The cook sighed as she helped Nia. "But Commander Colt is a reliable man. Nia, you are a good girl but do not fall in love with his charm. He is a dangerous man."
Nia nodded her head as she blinked, "I understand. I liked him but I am not sure how to put it.." Nia was not confident as her voice shook, "I just saw him and felt like he was a good man. I do not have any other thoughts about him though."
"That’s good. He is someone hard to control."
