Chapter 102: Chapter 102

Lady Gisella walked to the door. She was hesitant as she looked inside.

"Lady Gisella," One of the guards said as he bowed, "The Lord is not here."

"Where might he be?" She murmured as she narrowed her eyes in deep thought. Many things were going around in her mind and telling her Lord what she had found the most important one.

"He is in the garden, but he will be back soon." The guard heard the words as he decided to tell them. Usually, if it was anyone else he would not have bothered to reply but because it was Lady Gisella he could not help but say the words.

"Is he? I will wait," Lady Gisella said but she did not know where she could be waiting. This was not a known place to her. And she could enter the room at will.

As Lady Gisella was thinking about what needed to be done she heard the man’s voice. "Are you looking for me?"

Lady Gisella turned her head as she saw the man walking towards the room. She bowed her head as she said, "Yes, my Lord."

"Let’s go inside, after all, It is not good if we stay outside for a long time." The man’s tone was strict as if he was giving out an order. Lady Gisella nodded her head as she entered the room keeping her eyes down.

"Anything?" The man asked as he kept a Rose flower that was in his hand in his pot inside the water. "You were waiting for long,"

Lady Gisella looked down as she bit her lips. She did not know what she was about to think anymore. She wanted to talk to him. What she was trying to say was not something she was confident in saying. "I had asked around. Princess Eleanor wanted to know if she was the only one who was attacked."

"Princess Eleanor wanted to know?" The Lord asked as she looked around to look at the Lady. "And what did you find out?"

"No one else was attacked like the Princess was but their carriages were still attacked. But it looks like they did not want to kill any of them" Lady Gisella said as she looked around. "Someone wants to harm Princess Eleanor."

"I know," The man said as he sat on the chair.

"You know?" Lady Gisella’s eyes widened. "How did you know?"

"Do you think Princess Eleanor was the only one who had her doubts? I felt something was wrong from the start." The man tapped his finger on the table.

"But.... Did you know who it was?" Lady Gisella asked. Her eyes were shivering as she was afraid to know the answer herself.

"Yes," The man said with a smile on his face. "I know. Why do you think I agreed to send Princess Eleanor to Beaumont’s mansion?"

Lady Gisella bit her lips. She never understood why the Lord had agreed.

"Will you tell me?" Lady Gisella asked with a trembling tone. She wanted to know what the man was thinking but her eyes narrowed drastically. The fear of knowing what no one else knew was great. Sometimes the information may look trivial but its impact was great.

"Did the Princess tell you about her relationship with her family? Her current family." The man asked as he took the mask that was on the table. He wore it on his face as she looked at Lady Gisella. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Sharp dark eyes looked at her as she nodded her head, "When we were traveling towards the dessert, I and Princess Eleanor often to know each other better. It was then that she had said that the relationship with her Uncle is not very stable. I think she fears that she might lose her life if she gets to know something that she should not have.

"The enemy that we thought was from some kingdom was actually from the temple. Maybe they wanted to make the Princesses know that they should not trust anyone and keep an eye out for themselves. Or maybe they wanted to make them know that someone might be there to kill them if needed. In any of the cases, the knights were the holy knights of the temple. Whereas why Princess Eleanor was specifically targeted. I will tell you that too."

The man smiled as he looked at Lady Gisella as if he was confused why the Lady could not understand this simple thing. "Well, to tell you the truth, I think they were from her own Kingdom. The people who were specifically there to attack the Princess were from the Angevin Kingdom."

"But they were the same clothes," Lady Gisella’s eyes widened. Her tone was shivering as a thought flashed in her mind, "Do you think that they had conspired together?"

Lady Gisella wanted to push the thoughts away from her mind but no matter how hard she tried she could not do that.

"They have to be. Otherwise, it will not make any sense." The man said as he looked outside the window.

"But my Lord..." Lady Gisella had a lot of thoughts in her mind but she stopped as she saw the man looking at her as if warning her not to say anything else.

"The Holly knights do not go around by themselves, at least not in a camouflage, unless," The man said as his lips curled up. He was waiting for Lady Gisella to complete his words.

"Unless the Royal family agreed to it." Lady Gisella managed to say. She swallowed, "So you think the Royal Family knew that the Angevin Kingdom wanted to see Princess Eleanor dead?"

"I cannot be sure but there must be a possibility. Even if they did not know, the holy knights might have known that the Angevin Kingdom’s knights were among them. Do you think that they could forget such an important thing?"

Lady Gisella shook her head, "So that is the reason you decided to protect her?"

The man looked at the flower he had kept in a small vase. He took it out. "Do not worry about anything else." He gave the flower to the Lady as he said, "As Princess Eleanor to wear this at the dinner banquet tomorrow."
