The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 100
Nia walked towards the room.
When she was about to come she had seen Lady Gisella leaving the room. Nia knows that the two must have talked about something.
"Princess, I have delivered the soaps and said thank you," Nia said with a smile. "But while coming I heard something."
Princess Eleanor’s eyes narrowed as she looked at her lady in waiting. "Is it that there will be a dinner banquet with the Crown Prince soon?"
Nia’s eyes widened but she soon nodded her head. "Yes, how does Princess Eleanor know?"
"I cannot tell you my secret. Now let me hear anything else?" Princess Eleanor asked. She knew her lady in waiting very well. Nia would not have said anything if she didn’t have anything important in her mind.
"I heard what they were talking about inside Princess Vida’s room," Nia said as she bit her lips. "Some of her maids were asking her to act all nervously. Maybe tell the Crown Prince how difficult it was for her to come to the Empire. How afraid she was when she was attacked."
Princess Eleanor smiled as her eyes sharpened. "And what did the Princess say?"
"She said ’No’, The Princess said that she did not want to trouble the Crown Prince and she would rather be quiet and swallow her pain than disturb the Crown Prince," Nia said as she remembered what Princess Vida had said.
"And what was the expression of the people around her?" Princess Eleanor asked as she raised her eyebrows. She was interested in knowing what was happening. The interest she was feeling was high.
"Although I could hear them agree to Princess Vida’s words, but I still think that they were of the view that the princess should do it," Nia said as she remembered how everyone was sounding. Their voice was filled with agreement but their tone was filled with sadness.
"It’s okay," Princess Eleanor said as she smiled. "We will be leaving for House Beaumont soon."
Nia nodded her head as she continued to say, "But I met a messenger that said that all the Princesses have to be present there in proper attire."
Princess Eleanor laughed. Her voice filled the room as her lips were curled up. "Is it specifically for us? It looks like the Crown Prince did not like what I was wearing for brunch. It is a pity."
Nia did not know what to say. She knew that Princess Eleanor deliberately wore such a plain gown that day. She did not want to stand out.
"Do you know who else will be there?" Princess Eleanor asked as she blinked her eyes nervously. She wanted to know it to plan her personal view.
Nia shook her head but then she said in a soft voice. "Not really but it is said that all the top family heads will be there. It is just a rumor but the possibility of it is quite high."
Princess Eleanor nodded her head. "So we cannot disrespect the Crown Prince’s words." Princess Eleanor looked at Nia who was standing in front of her. "You know what to do right. We will dress in glory but the overall image should be ugly.
Nia nodded her head as she swallowed. "I understand Princess. I know what to do."
Princess Eleanor smiled, "I cannot stand out at any cost. And the best way to do that is being the person that the Crown Prince will hate to see."
Nia was silent. She knew what Princess Eleanor was saying was true.
The Crown Prince was rumored to like the female attention. He was a flirt who liked beautiful things. Nia knew that the Crown Prince looked to see beautiful things, but if Princess Eleanor wanted to avoid him she would want to be ignored. And the only way that the Crown Prince would ignore her was to not be able to come in his gaze.
"Princess, do not worry. I will make everything work." Nia’s voice was filled with determination. "The Crown Prince will not look at you."
Princess Eleanor was happy when she heard that. She nodded her head as she smiled, "Okay, I trust you on this."
Nia was happy as she went to see what type to gown the Princess could wear. Princess Eleanor could see Nia getting busy as a smile formed on her face. She sat on the bed and she looked outside through her window.
Lady Gisella’s words had helped her understand a lot of things. Princess Eleanor now knew that no matter what she did there was always a chance that the person she was talking to would not have a good feeling for her.
’When we were having brunch, Princess Vida was so sweet. I felt that I had found a good friend here,’ Princess Eleanor thought as she bit her lips in annoyance, ’and then I knew that the cream contained irritants and my doubts started to arise.’
Princess Eleanor’s eyes sharpened. She was good at judging people or that was what she thought especially after her parent’s death. But then she started to doubt her own judgment when she knew the truth about the cream. What if Princess Vida was not really her friend?
’No, I do not know anymore,’ Princess Eleanor was silent as she took a deep breath, ’Lady Gisella said that all the other Princesses were attacked too. At least, most of them were. So maybe ....’
Princess Eleanor shook her head in annoyance, ’Let’s wait and see how Princess Vida acts during the Dinner Banquet. I just hope that the Princess is not someone who I had misjudged.’
Princess Eleanor thought as she bit her lips. Her throat was dry as she closed her eyes a little. She opened her eyes slowly as she looked at the woman who was searching for the gown for her.
’I hope that what I am doing will have a good ending. All I want to do is get rid of people who destroyed my life.’ Princess Eleanor thought as she swallowed hard with a light of hope in her heart.
