The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 439: Something impossible
Chapter 439: Something impossible
Cedric would never suspect a day would come when he would say something like this, but here he was. Each passing day it felt like he was closer to death.
"That is really selfish of you to request now," Abrielle answered, her voice calm. She had a lot to say. The words were on the tip of her tongue.
He tells her that she is free to leave now after he held onto her for so long. It felt like he was letting go because she had no other use.
"Maybe I am selfish." Cedric’s hold tightened. She didn’t know how long they stayed like that. After having finished enjoying the soak they both dressed up in something more suitable for their status.
Felt like their previous status because Cedric was an exiled prince now. The Heliosian style was different from Dacronia, it was a bit more extravagant, still holding the same elegant touch.
"The crown prince has arrived." They were informed by a servant who left after delivering the message.
"I will have a word with him, take care," Cedric said, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. She looked beautiful in everything she wore. Her dress was yellow which was decorated with a few pieces of gold that gave it a more refined look.
"I understand, I will be waiting for the news," Abrielle replied. They had to know how much they could trust Aurelius and also seek an audience with the emperor of Heliosa
Cedric held her hand for a while, the awkward silence lingering between them. "You look beautiful. " He said in a final note before he left the room. The door closed behind him and she was the only one left here. Abrielle sighed, her feet slowly approached a window she stood against, staring into the distance.
Cedric’s words lingered in her mind. It made sense, they were in Heliosa and if she wanted to run and start a new life. It wasn’t difficult in any way. She could contact Adeline, her cousin, even if they didn’t share blood, Adeline could exercise her discretion to help her out.
It was the perfect time to remarry, Cedric was going to die soon. The news should make her excited. It was what she always wanted to be free from this accursed marriage. Why didn’t it seem that easy? Why did the thought of being separated from him now feel like the most dreadful thing?
She was grateful for what he had done for her in the past. They were even now and the debt should have already been paid. If he dies, everything would be solved, but now she is chasing after the impossible again. freewebnøvel_com
"Why am I like this?" She asked herself. Abrielle knew the reason why. Her fear won’t let her admit it despite how obvious it was.
Something popped into Abrielle’s mind, and she glanced at the small bag she had since they fled Draconia, which was placed on the bed. The past week she had been so busy she barely had time to read the letter Rebecca left for her..

"His highness is expecting you." The servant informed Cedric with a bow once they arrived at a door Cedric presumed was Aurelius’ study..
He could already hear the faint sound from the other side of the door. The servant walked away and Cedric proceeded to enter the study. The creaking sound of the door announced his presence. Cedric stepped into the study which seemed more like a Library
Several bookshelves made the room smell like old paper. Cedric’s eyes found Aurelius who was at the desk going through some paperwork. Aurelius didn’t bother to acknowledge his presence nor did Cedric bother with formalities.
He walked towards the desk and, without any invitation, he sat across Aurelius. A muffled laugh rang, Aurelius dropping his quill then glanced at Cedric.
"I can see you find it hard to part with your face being covered." He mentioned and Cedric shrugged. "I am more comfortable this way," Cedric replied.
Aurelius smiled, and he reached out for a nearby bottle. "Do you want a glass?" He offered Cedric, who refused. Aurelius went ahead to pour a glass for himself. He picked up the glass and then leaned against the table.
"I hear you wanted to speak to me." He mentioned playing mind games. Cedric was not new to this game. "Why are you preventing us from seeing the king? Wrong question: why are you interested in helping?" Cedric asked straightforwardly
Aurelius smiled then leisurely sipped his wine. "It is hard hiding things from you. Before I answer your questions I deserve answers to. Why did you flee to Heliosa? With the help of the holy knights I am certain you stood a chance at fighting against the royal family." ..
Aurelius didn’t have to spell out everything to Cedric. Just a few words were needed. Normally, Cedric didn’t need to come to Heliosa to fight back with the help of the holy knights and temple under the Nightshade Family; he would have been strong enough to stand against the opposition and gather more allies during the tension. He could deploy the shadow knights and go to war.
That didn’t happen; instead, he fled over the sea. Which meant one thing: the Nightshade family betrayed him. Aurelius just wanted to know the reason why the Nightshade family betrayed them.
Cedric smiled but his smile was hidden behind the scarf. He pulled down the scarf, feeling a bit suffocated. There was no need to hide his face when Aurelius already knew, and he felt Aurelius knew more than he imagined. More than even he knew of himself.
"Your guess is right. We were betrayed technically and had to flee." Cedric answered. Aurelius’s eyes narrowed with his growing suspicion.
"Why would they betray their only child?" Aurelius asked, finding it ridiculous. Cedric’s gaze darkened.
"Abrielle isn’t their daughter. The story behind it, is still unknown but the true Nightshade daughter is the priestess Callista."
Aurelius’s eyes went wide with shock. He was normally calm, but the news hit him more than he expected. Was his conjecture true about Abrielle? What were the chances?
