Chapter 67: Chapter 67: I’ll Protect You

He reached out his hand toward Seraphina Caldwell.

"Seraphina, your father Caden Cross personally chose me. I’m about to advance to Blue Rank, and none of them are even qualified to shield you from a blade. Come with me, I’ll protect you."

The extended hand was not an invitation, but a command.

Seraphina’s mind buzzed.

She clearly came to look for her father; why did a "Beast Husband" suddenly pop out?

She leaned against Isaac Vaughn’s chest, her mind in chaos.

Chosen by Father?

But he never mentioned it!

She had never heard Caden speak about marriage, let alone setting up a Beast Husband.

Everything happened too suddenly.

She instinctively burrowed further into Isaac’s embrace.

"My father picked you? How come he never mentioned it? Tell me, where exactly is my father first?"

Seraphina clutched Isaac’s collar tightly, tears welling in her eyes.

She looked up, her gaze fixed on Silas Shaw.

Where is Father?

That was her primary concern.

Silas slowly withdrew his hand.

"Want to see your father? You can. As long as you’re willing, I can take you to him right away. But first, you must bond with me. Only if you become mine will I take you to him."

Seraphina’s brow furrowed deeply, and she instinctively stepped back.

Chosen by Father?

But where is he?

Why can’t I see any sign of Father?

He suddenly appears as a witness; who knows if he’s spinning stories to deceive her.

"You say you’re chosen by my father, so why doesn’t he come to tell me himself? If he truly trusts you, why doesn’t he come to see me? You take me to see him, I’ll ask him face to face; wouldn’t that be clearer? Why must I bond with you now, here?"

Silas’s eyes flickered slightly.

"Caden has already left. He left in a hurry and did not leave much word. Where he went, only I, in the entire Eagle Clan, know. Want to see him? You can. But the premise is, you must bond with me first. That was his instruction before he left."

Seraphina’s heart skipped a beat.

Father is not in the clan, has truly left?

But to make her bond by blood with someone she barely knows?

That would be like handing the key to her fate over willingly.

She couldn’t do it.

Even if she had to sever ties with those villainous people in the future, she would never let herself be manipulated by someone, especially in a strange place.

She turned to look at the Eagle Clan’s Clan Leader.

"Clan Leader... could you let me see my father first? Even if it’s just to say a word, to confirm he’s okay, I’d be... I’d be relieved."

"Clan Leader Uncle, we’ve been traveling all day, it’s pitch-black outside, could we stay for a night? Once it’s daylight, we can discuss further, is that okay?"

The Eagle Clan’s Clan Leader always cared for females, especially one as polite as Seraphina.

Seeing her so obedient and considerate, traveling here with dust all over, his heart was already soft.

Without a second thought, he nodded in agreement.

"Sure, there are plenty of empty caves in our tribe, enough for you all to stay. Don’t worry, rest for a night, and we’ll talk tomorrow."

Actually, he had his own calculations in mind, thinking if Seraphina stayed, then having Silas as her Beast Husband would be ideal.

Not only would it stabilize the clan’s strongest warrior, but also tighten the bond with Caden’s descendants, achieving two outcomes at once.

Thinking of this, his lips curled subtly.

"I’ll take them to their lodgings!"

Silas immediately volunteered.

His eyes remained fixed on Seraphina.

"I know the quietest and safest place, ensuring she’ll rest well."

Seraphina’s brow furrowed lightly.

She intended to decline, but the Clan Leader already nodded, and refusing further would be too impolite.

"Thank you."

She didn’t look back, naturally missing the scene behind her.

Isaac’s face turned extremely dark.

And Wyatt Yardley stood a few steps away, his fists clenching tightly.

They didn’t understand why Seraphina didn’t say no.

Why did she choose silence over letting them protect her?

Unless she refused outright, they couldn’t act forcefully.

Only Seraphina knew she had no intention of agreeing to Silas.

She had already made up her mind; her apparent compliance was but a temporary strategy.

From start to finish, her only goal was to find her father’s whereabouts.

As for Silas’s intentions or kindness, she didn’t care, nor would she be swayed by them.

She only agreed to stay the night, hoping to gather some information upon hearing, "only he knows Father’s whereabouts."

She wasn’t without suspicion, but Silas’s confident words and gaze made it hard to completely ignore this lead.

No matter how slim the chance, she had to seize it.

And fighting here, no matter how powerful, she couldn’t withstand the entire Eagle Clan’s onslaught.

Moreover, with Isaac beside her and currently in a sensitive state due to his mating period, it was extremely sensitive and could easily lose control.

The situation was complex, advancing cautiously was the best approach.

She couldn’t let herself be trapped, nor let her father’s whereabouts sink into obscurity.

Silas led the group deeper until they stopped in front of a large cave.

He pulled aside the vines blocking the entrance, revealing the interior.

The cave was spacious, with smooth stone walls.

A trace of smoke lingered in the air, indicating someone had resided there not long ago.

Water filled the clay pots, and Beast Skins were neatly stacked.

Isaac stood at the entrance holding Seraphina, his brows furrowing.

"We don’t care for this place, we won’t stay where others have lived."

He glanced at Seraphina in his arms.

Isaac would rather Seraphina sleep on a cold pile of grass than let her step foot into a cave inhabited by another male.

In his sensitive state, his territorial and scent possession was at its peak.

He couldn’t tolerate Seraphina being tainted by other scents.

Silas didn’t even spare him a glance, his eyes fixed on Seraphina the whole time.

"Any available caves leak wind or rain. This one is comfortable. It’s mine, so you can rest easy while they... just lay some bedding anywhere."

His words burned as he spoke to Seraphina.

Seraphina’s heart skipped, her brows furrowing deeper.

This is Silas’s dwelling?

A single male leader inviting her to stay in his private residence.

Even for a night, this could lead to many speculations and trouble.

Isaac still in his mating period, outside certainly wouldn’t work.

But if she stays in Silas’s cave, it would imply acceptance of his advances, further complicating her situation.

"We’re only here for a night, no need for such fuss. Please just find us an empty, uninhabited cave."

Understanding her current predicament, she chose to retreat to move forward, trying to resolve the stalemate politely.

"What nonsense are you talking?"

Silas’s brow raised.

"How could such a delicate female sleep in a broken cave?"

In his view, Seraphina’s refusal seemed almost stubborn.

He couldn’t understand why an apparently smart female would reject such a safe and comfortable residence.

"You’ll stay here tonight, and as for the others? Just let them squat in any corner, they won’t starve."

"I don’t want to stay here, can’t you understand!"

Seraphina’s voice suddenly rose.

"Must you force me? Please find an unoccupied cave, thank you!"

She disliked being forced, even less being controlled under the guise of "for your own good."
