Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Bathe With Me?

Evan’s manner of eating was somewhat elegant, but he wasn’t much slower.

After traveling for half a day with an empty stomach, who wouldn’t be hungry?

But his speed wasn’t lacking, he continued to shove piece after piece into his mouth.

Kaelan grabbed a small handful of coarse salt, evenly sprinkled it over the surface of the meat, then leaned closer to smell the aroma, nodding contentedly.

Isaac huddled in a wooden barrel, taking small bites of the meat.

After adding salt, the originally dry and fishy taste became much more delicious.

His small body curled inside the barrel, almost only his head was showing.

He took a few bites, then suddenly lifted his gaze to look at Seraphina.

Seraphina saw them eating so heartily, wanted to suggest "it’d taste better if roasted." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

But the words were swallowed back at the edge of her tongue.

She stared at the meat sizzling with oil on the fire.

Though cooked food is better, it takes time and effort, and the day is still early, needing to travel a long way to find the next resting spot.

Moreover, these people, accustomed to being outdoors, were used to raw food and might not find raw meat hard to swallow.

Roasting meat takes time, what matters now is hitting the road, can’t be delayed over such a trifling matter.

Their journey today had already been delayed a bit.

If delayed further over a few pieces of meat, might not reach the planned camp before dark.

She looked up at the sky.

The sunlight started tilting west, the shadows of trees stretching longer.

If speed isn’t increased, traveling at night is not only dangerous but also easy to get lost.

Besides, these males already have the habit of eating raw meat.

She discreetly observed the way Evan and Kaelan were eating.

Both showed no aversion to raw meat, eating happily even.

Isaac was the same, showing no preference for cooked food.

Perhaps, in their view, raw meat was the most natural, primal taste?

She sighed softly, ceasing to insist on her notion.

The river water gently flowed in the wind, emitting a subtle murmur.

Ripples undulated, strands of sunlight scattered on the surface.

The river was remarkably clear, sunlight shining on it like a layer of scattered gold.

Stones and sand at the bottom could be seen clearly.

This place was truly clean.

No garbage, no murkiness, any river could be used for drinking water.

She had never seen such pure natural view in the original world.

The air was exceptionally fresh, mingling the moisture of the river and the aroma of the earth.

But looking at the water, Seraphina felt uncomfortable instead.

That clear water reflected her disheveled state.

Hair greasy and tangled, dust on her face.

She wasn’t someone naturally untidy, even before crossing she was particular about hygiene.

Such appearance made her feel bursts of unease from her soul.

The original self was already too lazy to wash, through the journey the wind and sun dried layers of sweat.

Her skirt clung to her skin, sticky, hot and itchy.

The fabric against her skin long soaked by sweat, and blown by wind, formed a thin crust.

She unconsciously reached to scratch her waist side.

But the more she scratched, the itchier it became, it was even worse.

Now seeing water, she was itching inside, wishing to immediately jump in for a soak.

She sneaked a glance at Evan.

He was lowering his head eating meat, sunlight scattered on his face.

Seraphina hesitated slightly, spoke softly: "Evan, may I go down for a bath?"

She dared not look into his eyes, just stared at her toes.

In the moment she spoke, she suddenly realized, in such a place, was proposing a bath too odd?

Would it make her seem spoiled?

As soon as the words left her mouth, the males gobbling their food suddenly stopped moving.

Their chewing stopped abruptly, even swallowing was stuck in their throats.

They all looked at her in unison, even stopped chewing the meat in their mouths.

Kaelan’s wooden skewer suspended in the air, the meat piece almost fell.

Isaac leaned out half of his body from the barrel, eyes wide.

While Evan, lifted his head slowly.

Seraphina was taken aback by their gaze.

What?

Did I say something wrong again?

She subconsciously touched her face, thinking she smeared oil.

But the surrounding was eerily quiet, no one answered, nor did anyone shift their gaze.

The collective stare made her feel like sitting on pins and needles.

How would she know, the Beast Husbands inside were already exploding.

Within their knowledge, females would hardly ever actively ask for a bath.

Seraphina never took the initiative to ask for a bath!

She was usually dragged to the river by force when her father was around.

Each time she cried and shouted, saying the water was too cold, rocks pricked her feet, refusing to go into the water at any cost.

Such resistance was almost instinctive, even persuasion was futile.

Yet now, she took the initiative to ask for a bath?

Such change was too abrupt, too abnormal.

They looked at each other, eyes filled with shock.

Could it be she was pretending?

Or had other intentions?

Or perhaps...

Had her mind really started to change?

After her father left, which of them dared to bring up her bathing?

They all knew in their hearts, the Female Master was short-tempered, slightest misstep would bring disaster upon oneself.

A single word out of line would result in a harsh scolding.

Severe cases would be met with cold eyes, even using contract power to make you suffer.

Therefore, even for daily trifles, no one dared to open their mouth recklessly.

Bathing, such private matter, was silently avoided by everyone.

Evan suddenly lifted his head, eyes wide open.

"What... what did you say? You want to... bathe?"

Seraphina’s expression remained calm, nodding, her tone indifferent: "Yes."

Then she raised her hand, pointed to the river not far away.

"My body is sticky, covered in sweat and dust, if not washed tonight won’t sleep well."

"Washing a bit, feel comfortable. Just a few minutes, won’t delay our journey."

Her tone was natural, devoid of emotional fluctuations.

Wyatt was originally taking small bites of his meat, hearing this immediately stopped.

"If you catch a cold, or get swept by underwater currents...I’ll accompany you, safer."

Seraphina shook her head slightly, waved her hand.

"No need, you all finish your meal first. Once done, I’ll bathe, not too late."

"I can handle it myself, no need to trouble anyone."

The males exchanged glances, eyes mixed with complexity.

Yet no one spoke any further, just tacitly accelerated their eating speed.

Soon enough, the originally full big bag of boar meat was consumed entirely.

The Beastfolk’s appetite was indeed astonishing.

After a while, by the campfire only bones gnawed white and a few sheets of grease paper were left.

Seraphina saw them finally stopped, made sure no one was moving chopsticks anymore, then slowly stood from the Beast Skin-covered stone.

She patted dust off the corner of her clothes, walked toward the riverbank.

The night river breeze brushed her face with a slight chill.

Water murmured, sounding like whispers.

Moonlight spilled over the river surface, shattered into countless silver points.

However, after taking two steps forward, she suddenly sensed those five eyes fixed on her back.

Hot, heavy, almost stalled her breath.

Though she clearly knew inside.

These Beast Husbands, none truly liked her genuinely.

Yet even so...

Being watched so openly, staring as she prepared to undress...

Anyone couldn’t bear it!
