The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 135: Do You Dare Swear a Blood Oath?
Isaac Vaughn’s hand suddenly tightened around her arm.
"Don’t trust him! He doesn’t know where Caden Cross is; this is all a lie! He just wants to deceive you into signing that contract, to control you forever and use you as he pleases!"
Seraphina Caldwell said nothing, just lowered her head, her long hair falling down and covering her eyes.
She just stood there quietly, motionless.
After a long time, she suddenly lifted her head, her eyes piercing straight into Silas Shaw’s.
"You say you know where my father is? Then do you dare swear by The Beast God? Take a blood oath in front of us. If you deceive me, you’ll lose all your Beast Power and forever be unable to return to your original form. Can you? Do you dare?"
Silas Shaw’s raised hand froze abruptly in mid-air.
The smile on his face disappeared in an instant.
Swearing by The Beast God was the oldest and most irreversible curse in the Beastkin world.
If one breaks the oath, the price is losing Beast Power for life, never being able to return to their original form, becoming a half-human, half-beast incomplete existence.
Such an oath, no one dares to take lightly, and no one would gamble their life on it.
And Silas Shaw...
How can he dare?
But merely half a second later, that trace of panic dissipated like smoke.
His face darkened, and immediately, dark brown feathers burst forth from beneath his skin.
In the blink of an eye, a shadow had already shot forth!
The figure of the Peregrine swooped in like a ghost.
Wyatt Yardley had just reacted, his pupils contracting suddenly.
The sharp claws were already less than a foot away from Seraphina Caldwell’s neck!
Isaac Vaughn fiercely bit the tip of his tongue, the intense pain of blood filling his mouth briefly restoring his clarity.
With the last ounce of his strength, he unhesitatingly pushed Seraphina Caldwell in Kaelan Hawthorne’s direction!
In that moment, a pale blue pattern suddenly burst from his palm.
The fragments of light carried a powerful protective force, quickly wrapping around both Kaelan Hawthorne and Seraphina Caldwell, forming a protective shield.
"Kaelan! Catch her! Protect her!"
His face was white, without a trace of blood, and his gaze lingered on Seraphina Caldwell’s face for a moment.
Then, his body fell heavily, his eyes slowly closing, never to open again.
When Seraphina Caldwell opened her eyes again, everything was a misty blur.
She felt weak, limp.
The wet, sticky metallic smell in her nose made her retch involuntarily.
She moved her fingers slightly, finally realizing she was trapped in a giant pit.
Kaelan Hawthorne was crouching nearby, holding a dried leaf, looking down at her.
"Where’s Isaac? Where’s Wyatt and the others?"
She abruptly propped herself up, her head spinning.
But she couldn’t care less about that.
She looked up, seeing towering ancient trees densely packed, completely covering the sky.
Aside from her and Kaelan Hawthorne, the forest was dead silent, not a soul in sight.
Kaelan Hawthorne held that dried leaf, his fingertips exerting slight pressure.
"Don’t look for them, it’s just us two."
He glanced at Seraphina Caldwell.
Her face was pale, her lips devoid of color.
"Isaac risked his life to open the Space Teleportation, exhausting the last of his spiritual power, barely managing to keep the passage open for a few seconds. Under such circumstances, only the two of us could be sent out. As for the others...who knows where they are."
Images of Isaac Vaughn’s final moments flashed in Seraphina Caldwell’s mind.
Blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, his hands pressing against the ground, his eyes fixated on her, shouting with all his might.
"Go! Survive!"
She tightly clenched the fallen leaf on the ground.
"Where are we? This...where is this place? Will they be okay? Are Isaac and the others still alive?"
"I don’t know where this place is either."
Kaelan Hawthorne stood up.
Then he looked down at Seraphina Caldwell, still sitting on the ground.
"First we need to get a sense of the surroundings, make sure there’s no threat, then consider what to do next."
"As for them..."
His voice paused slightly, his gaze suddenly shifted toward the dense forest far away.
"Maybe they’re still alive."
He spoke, raising his right hand to gently press against his chest.
"I can still feel their presence. It’s faint, intermittent, but not gone."
Seraphina Caldwell’s heart sank.
She instinctively glanced at her wrist, then pressed her hand against her chest.
But she didn’t have the Beast Seal, couldn’t sense the others’ states through the Contract like Kaelan.
But Kaelan was different.
He was one of the Beast Husbands who had signed the master-servant Contract with her.
He could sense the life force of the other four Beast Husbands through the contract mark within her.
No matter the distance, as long as they were alive, he could faintly feel them.
Isaac Vaughn sacrificed everything to prevent her from being taken by Silas Shaw, burning his Soul Power to forcefully open a short-distance Teleportation Gate.
Such Forbidden Technique was extremely dangerous; any mishap and the caster would be blown apart on the spot.
Yet he not only successfully opened the Teleportation Array, but also sent her and Kaelan Hawthorne out of the battlefield.
But the remaining four Beast Husbands stayed behind, facing the wrathful Silas Shaw.
Silas Shaw’s target had always been her.
As the Contract master, possessing five powerful Beast Husbands, she was coveted by all major forces.
Now, not only did he fail to capture her, but Kaelan Hawthorne also helped her escape; Silas Shaw would certainly be enraged.
His fury would definitely be vented on the four Beast Husbands who stayed to fight.
She closed her eyes, images of them shackled with chains, covered in wounds, flooded her mind.
Isaac Vaughn gave everything for her, even his last ounce of strength for the Teleportation Array.
She couldn’t repay this kindness in vain.
"Can we go back to save them?"
As soon as she spoke, Kaelan Hawthorne already turned and started walking toward the depths of the forest.
"Keep up. Many wild beasts here; I’ve heard there are black pythons that swallow elephants, and Shadow Wolves that hunt in packs. If we don’t find shelter before nightfall, you’ll end up as supper."
Seraphina Caldwell quickly scrambled to her feet, her knees still weak.
She gritted her teeth, holding onto a tree trunk to stabilize herself.
The roadside was filled with thorns, and sharp brambles scratched her ankle.
But she dared not stop.
Now, Kaelan Hawthorne was the only person she could rely on.
In this unfamiliar jungle, without him, she wouldn’t find her way out.
He was walking fast, and with large strides.
Seraphina Caldwell had to jog to barely keep up.
Before long, her breathing became unsteady.
She usually didn’t even like walking, having Isaac to carry her and Gideon Larkin to bear her up mountains.
Stamina?
Spoiled until none was left.
Suddenly, Kaelan Hawthorne stopped.
He slowly raised one hand, making a "silence" gesture.
She didn’t react in time, her body still had the momentum of running forward.
Her head thudded solidly against his broad back.
The impact was not light, causing a dull ache in her nose.
She hurriedly stepped back, raising a hand to cover her nose.
"Ah...why did you stop so suddenly? Couldn’t you give a heads-up!"
Kaelan Hawthorne slowly turned around, a slight smile on his lips.
"Was I walking too fast? Or was it that you couldn’t keep up?"
Seraphina Caldwell’s heart tightened under his cold gaze.
She instinctively lowered her gaze, not daring to meet his eyes.
"Not fast! Really not fast! I can keep up, I’ve been keeping...no problem at all."
She knew clearly, Kaelan Hawthorne didn’t bother to pretend anymore.
