Chapter 96: Find A Replacement!

Oh, my God!

Abigail’s eyes widened as she realized what just happened. Yet again, another event that happened against the flow of her novel.

"Since when....?" She finally asked as her head tilted. "But I don’t think the two of you were beneath the same roof for long, right? How come....?"

"Well..." Anne felt awkward while talking about this as she coughed and said, "We were classmates in high school."

"Since then?!" Abigail let out a shocked squeal and said, "How come I never knew?!"

"Because I clearly hide well." Anne also felt helpless in this regard.

Truthfully, it wasn’t that she was hiding deliberately, but Abigail before was so self-centered that even though Anne was obvious, the girl never noticed it before. Sure, they often talked about William, especially ever since Katherine became his girlfriend.

The latter would go on and on about how the man was the perfect boyfriend material. At that time, Anne would have no other choice than to swallow the bitterness into the depths of her stomach and endure.

Her face would turn white while they talked about him. So how come Abigail says that Anne never told her about her feelings? She had been so obvious all along. It was just that no one ever noticed her emotions.

But she wouldn’t be a villain here and speak those words. Abigail has recently improved and even noticed her emotions. It was a good thing, right?

Thus, she directly changed the topic since she didn’t want to talk about her one-sided love. "Do you have some issue with Nicholas?"

"Hmm? How did you know?" Abigail sounded surprised.

Bullseye!

Anne let out a breath of relief and said, "Well, you can tell me anything you want, you know?"

"Yes!" Thus, Abigail instantly threw that William thing to the back of her head and said, "How do I seduce Nicholas?"

"Huh?" Anne was shocked to hear those words coming out of her friend’s mouth. "Why do you want to seduce him? Isn’t it a contract marriage? Shouldn’t it be temporary?"

Abigail felt like she had become brainless all of a sudden. How come everyone other than her figured out that this marriage should have been temporary in the first place?

She felt so stupid at that moment.

"Yeah, but I still want to give this marriage a chance."

"Are you crazy?" Anne’s brows furrowed. "You still don’t like him. So you’d better stay away from him or else, I fear you’ll be stuck like me. Don’t make the same mistake. One sided-love isn’t a joke."

Abigail remained silent. It wasn’t that she didn’t like him... but the intensity of that ’liking’ wasn’t that much as to fall into depression the moment she was away from the man.

Sure, he acted like her walking pill who could change her mood in the blink of an eye. Maybe that’s the reason why she liked him a little bit.

Not hearing her response, Anne realized something was wrong. Thus, she asked worriedly, "You.... You don’t like him, do you?"

"Just a little bit..." Abigail finally admitted it to her friend as a trace of blush formed on her cheeks. "It would have been better if he had given me a little attention."

"Girl, you’re hopeless." Anne facepalmed herself.

She had thought her friend had finally improved and stopped licking her mom’s foot only to realize this young woman had changed her target from Chloe to Nicholas. Ah, this was such a depressing story.

"I know!" Abigail groaned. "What do I do now?"

Anne sighed and finally said, "Well you can slowly try to-"

"I have tried everything I could." Abigail pouted. "Starting from forcing him to stay in the same room to sending him texts almost every single day, even sending pics of lingerie. Nothing ever worked."

"You did what?" Anne was so shocked that her entire being froze. She thought she misheard something just now.

Sending pics of lingerie? Who does that?!

"You... You snapped yourself in-"

"No!" Abigail blushed at that thought and said, "Not mine. What the heck are you thinking?! I downloaded the pics from Amazon and sent them to him!"

"Oh." Anne relaxed slightly. "Cancel all those plans for now. Listen, you have two options here: either back out right now or suffer just like me. I’m warning you: what you’re doing is dangerous for your emotional health."

Abigail went silent once again. She knew it was dangerous, but what if Nicholas ended up having feelings for her? He was her most favorite character from the novel.

Honestly, even she didn’t know why she wanted to be with Nicholas so much. Was it because Owen had advised her like that?

Perhaps.

She pursed her lips and asked, "Then... What do you propose?"

"Okay, since you’ve asked for my help, I’ll guide you, but you’ve gotta do exactly what I’m saying, okay?"

"Yes!"

"Well, first things first, move out."

"What?!" Abigail felt like she heard wrong and instantly said, "Did you just ask me to move out?"

"Exactly."

"I can’t!" Not now when her life was in danger. Abigail felt like if she stayed away from the man, she would die instantly.

The killer behind the scenes was extremely dangerous, and she couldn’t move out until and unless he was the killer.

The reason why she was so hell-bent on depending on Nicholas was that he was the only person among others who managed to avoid a major plotline, while still staying alive. Thus, she believed in her heart that as long as she stayed with the man, she would live.

But she can’t possibly tell Anne about this, can she?

So, she lied, "It’s written in the contract that I can’t stay in another house."

Honestly, she hadn’t read the contract at all. So she didn’t know whether it was true or not. But how would Anne find out about it?

Thus, Abigail wasn’t worried about it, and the other girl also believed her friend’s words and said, "Alright. So let’s go with the second option. Stay in a different room. Don’t see him face-to-face and avoid him as much as you can."

Abigail nodded. This was what she could do. Nicholas wasn’t going to stay here for long anyway. So she was sure she wouldn’t have to see his face.

"Okay!"

"Third." Anne took a deep breath and said, "Don’t talk, don’t tease him, and don’t give him silent signals if you don’t want this marriage anymore."

Abigail tilted her head and asked, "I don’t give him signals.... But yeah, I do tease him."

"Don’t do that anymore." Anne then spoke up once again, "Lastly, find a replacement."
