Chapter 74: Teasing Husband~

"Why am I here?" asked Abigail, completely forgetting about her foot injury and that she fell unconscious at the sight of blood once again.

Nicholas started ignoring her once again, continuing his work as if he hadn’t been the one who had just forcibly brought her into his room and treated her foot injury.

As if realizing something, Abigail looked down at her legs and instantly threw off the blanket, wiggling her toes. Surprisingly, her feet were wrapped with bandages, and her pain was greatly reduced. Even the traces of blood disappeared from her feet, making it seem like someone had tenderly treated it with utmost care.

Her eyes widened as she looked at her husband and the first-aid kit on the side. Slowly, a smile formed on her lips as she giggled and said, "So, husband treated my feet?"

Nicholas continued to act as if he had suddenly turned deaf or something. He continued typing on his laptop with a serious expression on his face.

If not for his left foot tapping constantly on the ground as if impatient, it would clearly look like he wasn’t distracted by his wife’s teasing words. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Unfortunately for him, Abigail’s eyes were keen, and she noticed this small action. After seeing that, she giggled even more and crossed her legs on the bed, putting her hand on her chin as she said, "So you have finally accepted that I can stay in your room? Am I allowed?"

Nicholas didn’t refute, but the speed of his feet increased a little. There was a small trace of unnoticeable blush spreading on his cheeks. It almost looked like he didn’t want others to discover what he was feeling in his heart.

Sure, he didn’t love Abigail, nor did he have any desire to in the future. But she did look like a fit wife for him. If possible, he wouldn’t want to change his life partner in the future. But of course, he would also want her mood swings to reduce slightly.

Nicholas frowned.

Maybe he should talk to a psychiatrist about this. He was about to talk to the young woman about this when someone knocked on his door loudly as if they would break it the next second.

"Open up!" Rosa yelled anxiously from the outside, hitting the door surface with her fist. "If you don’t, I’m calling Asher and having him take Abigail away!"

Why hadn’t she given up yet?!

Nicholas’s impatience was rising a bit after seeing that. Maybe he should send his mom away. There was no point keeping her if she continued meddling with his life like this.

Suddenly, a new voice echoed from the outside, a familiar one at that.

"Brother, open up. Otherwise, I’m breaking the door." Chris yelled from beside Rosa, turning anxious himself while hitting the door. "For real bro, she needs medical attention. We get it, you don’t like her much, but at least have some decency to take her to the hospital!"

Abigail frowned as she glared at the door furiously.

Who were they to talk to her husband like that? Only she had the ability and authority to do that! Not even Rosa could meddle in between them!

Abigail was about to speak when she noticed Nicholas getting up from his seat and walking to the door. Since he was handling it himself, she wouldn’t speak anymore. Better yet, she should pretend to be asleep and see what they would talk about!

She was more curious to see her husband in a critical situation and unwilling to explain himself!

Being the author of this character, she knew what Nicholas was like inside out. She knew that he would never speak about her fear of blood against her wishes, and he would never clear his name because he would always think it was useless, a waste of time, honestly.

Of course, she could have helped the man, but why should she watch a good show from the sidelines when she could watch a good show?

She giggled, and before her husband could open the door, she laid back on the bed and covered herself with the blanket, pretending to be unconscious.

"What?" Nicholas asked in an irritated voice as he looked at his brother with a slight coldness dripping from his eyes. "I’m working."

Rosa pushed her eldest son aside and dashed inside the room with lightning speed, worried about her daughter-in-law. She got to the bed and shook the young woman’s shoulder hurriedly.

"Abigail! Wake up! Are you alright?"

"She is-" Nicholas was about to say the word ’fine’ as he turned around, but the moment he glanced at his wife lying on the bed, pretending to be asleep like a child doing a play, that word was swallowed into the pit of his stomach.

He was completely speechless as a trace of exhaustion appeared in his eyes.

Maybe he should get out of here instead of Rosa.

After thinking about it, he shut his laptop and left the room as if running away from something.

"Wait up!" Chris tried chasing his brother only to be told off.

"No need." Nicholas wanted peace and quiet and possibly a place away from all the mess happening around him these days.

Honestly, he missed those days when he would return home to the peace and quiet of the night. Now, he would have to face messy events one after another, both during work and at home. So troublesome! He shouldn’t have gotten married at all!

Chris stopped in his tracks and turned back, looking at his mom, caring about her daughter-in-law. A trace of irritation appeared in his heart.

Really, he felt like he was just thrown aside like a piece of useless wood!

Just then, the notification of his cell phone sounded from his phone as he picked it up and glanced there. Surprisingly, there was a message from the ’deskmate’ he had met that day in the bar.

He hadn’t gotten a chance to talk to the guy again despite finding that person attractive and basically his type. But last night, he finally picked up his courage and texted Arthur, hoping to get a reply soon.

He only asked whether they could meet in the same bar. Unfortunately, he didn’t receive a reply up until now.

His heart thumped in his chest as a hint of hope appeared in his heart. He read the text carefully.

Okay.

That was it, but that simple word cheered his heart as his eyes glistened. But he didn’t know that his sister-in-law and mother, who were supposed to be inside the room, were looking at his phone from the side.

That meant they also read everything.
